The end has come for Freeform series Cruel Summer and Good Trouble. The Disney-owned cable net has canceled Cruel Summer after two seasons and Good Trouble will end with the second half of its upcoming fifth season, Deadline has confirmed.
We hear Good Trouble will be given the opportunity to film some additional scenes for a supersized series finale episode to properly wrap up the series. Season 5B premieres on January 2.

Chrissy Teigen and David Chang’s new unscripted series “Chrissy & Dave Dine Out” has set a January series premiere date at Freeform, the network announced Monday.
The series, which also features Joel Kim Booster as the group explores Los Angeles’ vibrant restaurant scene and discover gems off the beaten path, will launch Jan. 24, at 10:00 p.m. Et.
The official logline is as follows: “While David gets his hands dirty in the back of house with the restaurant’s chef, Chrissy and Joel will hold court in the front of house, hosting an always loose, unexpected and entertaining dinner party with undeniably delicious food and great conversation.”

Hallmark Channel has an exciting new original series in the works.
The cabler on Monday announced a series order for Ride, an all-new, original primetime series set to begin production this summer in Calgary, Alberta in Canada.
The series will premiere on Hallmark Channel in 2023 and is co-produced by Endeavor Content-backed Blink49 Studios and Seven24 Films, in partnership with Bell Media for CTV Drama Channel in Canada.
The series is based on an original script by husband and wife writing team Rebecca Boss & Chris Masi, who along with Sherri Cooper-Landsman are showrunners and executive producers.
The series is described as "a multigenerational family ensemble following the lives of the Murrays, part of a rodeo dynasty going back a generation, as they struggle to keep their beloved ranch afloat."

Freeform said Friday that it is adding to its 25 Days of Christmas and 31 Nights of Halloween programming events with a Valentine’s Day-themed block, to be highlighted by its original film The Thing About Harry which premieres February 15 at 8 Pm.

Ben Kingsley has scored a key role in Spike TV’s upcoming six-hour event series "Tut".
The story explores the life of Tutankhamun in Egypt in 14th Century BC. Becoming pharoah at nine years old after his father's murder, King Tut was forced to marry his sister in order to maintain the dynasty. He was also controlled like a puppet by three men who plot against him, yet he ultimately grew into a hero in battle.

Spike TV announced this afternoon that the network has optioned a limited event series script that "takes an illuminating, new look" at the story of Tutankhamun (aka King Tut, 1333 to 1323 BC), the youngest Pharaoh to rule Ancient Egypt. You may know that I’m already something of a reluctant, if fairly enthusiastic, fan of ABC Family, and most of the shows they put out. If so, I don’t have to sell you on the two new series coming your way this summer (and only really want to sell you on one anyway).
Much as ABC Family may not quite be putting out the best shows on television, if you look at series that are predominantly geared toward a specific demographic… well, I think they might be actually. Younger audiences (and let’s face it, especially female audiences) are caught in a sort of black hole when it comes to television, and shows aimed at them today are either convinced that your brain doesn’t turn on until you’re 20 (actually, it switches off at about 11, and back on at some vague point), or have no real appeal...
