Happy Family, Conditions Apply(Prime)
Directed by Aatish Kapadia, Jamnadas Majethia
Dysfunctional families are the new functional. Coincidentally the feature film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and the series Happy Family, Conditions Apply released this week, share an affinity for the joint family, creaky joints and all, not to mention their lengthy V. Shantaram styled titles.
Happy Family is a strange animal. It infuriates and amuses, exasperates and endears itself provided you stay non-judgemental about the borderline obsessive characters as well as about the content which gives them a freeflowing movement that frequently makes them look foolish.
Part of our mixed feelings come from the fact that the characters, each so sharply written you feel you know him or her (although you don’t really want to), are like that: highly annoying and fixated in their opinions. None more so than Hemlata Dholakia, played smirkingly by the magnificent Ratna Pathak Shah...

Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar, is always finding new ways to entertain his audiences, whether it be performing dangerous stunts or doing the unexpected that leaves the audience awestruck. Now Akshay has attempted a never-before-dreamt stunt for his upcoming film, The Shaukeens.
Along with his stunning leading lady in the film, Lisa Haydon, there is a scene where the two are sitting on a couch and hanging mid-air, which has left everybody speechless. This scene was shot with the help of a chopper, which flew the two stars on the red couch, high up in the air.
This decision was put forward by Akshay himself, who was inspired by a Tom and Jerry episode, and insisted that this scene has to be included in the film. The scene was shot on a stunning beach in Cape Town.

After many setbacks, the remake of the 80s Bollywood classic Shaukeen starring Akshay Kumar and Lisa Haydon, finally went on floor few weeks back and now the makers have decided to re-title the film. While initially they decided to retain the original title, now they believe that it should be titled as The Shaukeens.
Producer Murad Khetani stated that the title change adds the contemporary touch. Though it is an official remake, according to Murad, it is only the essence of the previous film that has been maintained. However, the story and the characters have undergone some changes in order to make it relevant to modern times. They are also planning to add some more humour, colour, more glamour and edginess in order to present it as a complete package. They feel that the current title adds to the coolness quotient and will be able to attract the youth audience too.

Remember the colossal triumvirate of Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A. K. Hangal lusting after the comely Rati Agnihotri in Basu Chatterjee's 1982 comedy Shaukeen? The remake, to be directed by Rumi Jaffery will star Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher in the three roles. A hunt is on for the sexy young girl's part. Confirming these developments, the neo-Shaukeen director Rumi Jaffery says, "Yes, we've finalized Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher to play the three roles in Shaukeen. All three actors are National award winners and I can assure you, they won't allow audiences to miss those wonderful actors in the old Shaukeen." Rishi Kapoor was expected to play one of the three leery old men in the new Shaukeen. But his dates could not be worked out. Anupam gladly stepped into the role. Veteran actor A.K. Hangal, remembered for some really memorable character roles in Hindi cinema of yore, is in bad shape. The actor, who is 95 years old, is apparently seriously ill, very weak and has to even deal memory that's fading with each passing day. What's more, he and his son Vijay are also in desperate need for financial help as they are grappling with the actor's rising medical expenses. In spite of being a well-known name in the Hindi film industry, it's sad that very few people from the film fraternity (such as Asha Parekh and Vipul Shah etc.) came to offer their help to A.K. Hangal. We at Bollywood Hungama wish him a speedy recovery.
