- Kirsten Heiberg was born on 25-4-1912. After a drama training, the young woman appeared in the Oslo and Bergen theaters, until in 1937 she came to Vienna where she encountered great success. There she got to know prolific film music composer Franz Grothe, fell in love with him and followed him to Berlin. Once in the German capital, she was given her first role by Curt Goetz in his movie Napoleon ist an allem schuld (1938). The film was still being shot when she married Grothe, her great love. Audiences liked the newly married Heiberg's first German movies as she could not only play but also sing (popular) songs. As a result, she found herself very much in demand. When the war came though, she did not feel at ease in Germany any longer but she hid her real feelings in appearing most often as the attractive foreigner in propaganda films. To add to her discomfort, her marriage to Franz Grothe went on the rocks and they ended up being divorced. Kirsten Heiberg decided to return to her native Norway but she discovered that she was not welcome there, being regarded as a traitress to her country. In 1948, she gave a single performance in a Hamburg theater and made three more films in Germany. She died on 3-3-1976. Among the few attending her funeral was Franz Grothe.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Guy Bellinger
