Itvx thriller “Platform 7,” produced by Fremantle’s Dancing Ledge, has debuted first-look images ahead of MipCom.
Adapted from Louise Doughty’s novel, it sees young teacher Lisa wandering around a small railway station. Lisa has a secret – she is a ghost and she died right there. But even though everyone ruled it a suicide, she doesn’t remember what happened to her.
“It’s tense, fresh and engaging, with supernatural elements that combine important modern issues, resulting in an exceptional lead performance from Jasmine Jobson, who breaks new ground in this limited series,” says Fremantle’s Jens Richter, calling Doughty’s writing “phenomenal.”
The show was adapted by Paula Milne, also behind “The Politician’s Husband” and Oliver Hirschbiegel’s “The Same Sky.” Toby Regbo, Reece Ritchie, Yaamin Chowdhury co-star.
“I feel very passionately that if ghosts would really exist, they wouldn’t be just floating around in white nighties...

‘My Elizabeth Barrett Browning film needs a woman’s touch – but where are all the female directors?’
Screenwriter of biopic about the radical poet says the industry must do more to get women behind the camera lens
A new film about a 19th-century poet and early feminist is crying out to be filmed through a woman’s lens, but it is likely to be directed by a man because there is such a shortage of female directors, according to one of Britain’s leading screenwriters.
Paula Milne has written a feature film inspired by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, who campaigned against social injustice, including slavery and child labour, while living in fear of her own father. Milne believes that such a story, with its many contemporary parallels, should be filmed by a woman, because of the natural empathy that women have for one another, but that is unlikely to happen.

After making two high profile movies set during the Hitler years, Downfall director Oliver Hirschbiegel is hatching plans for a new film that will unfold during the First World War.
The German filmmaker’s latest feature 13 Minutes dramatises the real-life story of small town carpenter Georg Elser who, in 1939, came close to assassinating Adolf Hitler with a homemade bomb.
The Oscar-nominated Downfall was set at the end of the Second World War, with the Nazi regime in its dying throes. Now, Hirschbiegel wants to turn his attention toward the ‘Great War’ of 1914-18.
“It is very much in the wake of Jean Renoir and of (Stanley) Kubrick,” the German director told ScreenDaily of the project, which is at a very early stage.
Two of its points of reference are Renoir’s La Grande Illusion (1937), the First World War classic about three French prisoners in German captivity, and Kubrick’s anti-war movie, Paths Of Glory (1957).

BBC Two has ordered Legacy, a one-off movie that will slot into its Cold War Moment block. Written by Paula Milne and directed by Pete Travis, the spy thriller reteams the duo whose 2009 apartheid drama Endgame won a Peabody Award. Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox, The Hour‘s Romola Garai, Sherlock‘s Andrew Scott and My Week With Marilyn‘s Simon Russell Beale are starring in the film that’s based on Alan Judd’s 2001 book. The story is set in 1970s London during the height of the Cold War when a young spy discovers the disturbing truth about his father’s complex past. Travis directed last year’s Dredd and scripted Sean Penn-starrer The Gunman. Crawford Collins, Milne and Judd are exec producing Legacy for Slim Film + Television; Lucy Richer is exec producer for the BBC and Rob Bullock is producer.

David Tennant will shock viewers as a sadist in 'The Politician's Husband'. The former 'Doctor Who' star has taken on an unlikely role as minister Aiden Hoynes, who is jealous of his Junior Education Minister wife Freya's soaring career in the Cabinet, so he lashes out at her in a violent and sexual manner. Speaking about one particular scene, writer Paula Milne told The Sun newspaper: ''It is unforgivable what he does. ''The first sex scene we see with them, it is not entirely comfortable. BBC and ITV enraged the government with early portrayals of the conflict but it is being supplanted by recent conflicts
British TV deployed rapidly – and with frequent controversy – to attack the Falklands war as a subject. The assiduous historical website British Television Drama records, in the decade after the war, 10 dramas based on the conflict.
The BBC screened five plays within five years of the events, which may surprise those who now associate the corporation with editorial caution and at the time clearly astonished the Ministry of Defence, which made numerous objections and obstructed access to actual locations and equipment.
The earliest pieces were oblique, with Don Shaw's The Falklands Factor dramatising an 18th-century dispute over the islands, and Maggie Wadey's The Waiting War focusing on military and naval families. ITV also enraged the MoD and the government with a children's series, Jan Needle's A Game of Soldiers,...

Emily Watson's raw performances have made her one of Britain's most spellbinding actors. Now she's playing a woman running for prime minister – against her husband. She talks to Carole Cadwalladr about marriage, sexuality and the joy of viscose blouses
The plots of TV dramas are often so preposterous and far-fetched. And then sometimes they're not. The latest three-parter from the BBC, The Politician's Husband, stars David Tennant and Emily Watson as two senior politicians who are married to one another and whose domestic life starts to unravel when the husband's career begins to be eclipsed by that of his more talented wife. If this is a fantasy (and none too flattering) version of Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper's lives, then at least they can be happy with the cast.
It's a mark of how much the star of TV drama has risen that an actor of Emily Watson's stature is involved.

An adaptation of the British crime drama fronted by Clive Owen, Second Sight stars Lee as Tanner, the lead detective with the New Orleans Police Department. Politics are in fashion on TV, with political series becoming as prevalent as medical dramas.
Former Doctor Who star David Tennant will co-star with Emily Watson as husband and wife on BBC Two’s upcoming political series, The Politician’s Husband.
Deadline reports that the new three-part series will explore the changing family dynamics when a wife becomes a greater success story than her husband.
The series comes from Paula Milne and serves as a follow up to the 1995 feature film of the same name.
Doctor Who fans will definitely want to check this one out. Tennant did a great job in last year’s Fright Night and we can’t wait to see him in this new political drama.
New political series to hit the air this TV season include HBO’s Veep, which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and USA Network’s Political Animals, which stars Sigourney Weaver.
