Purely Physical
The first film on this Chris Warfield (Up Yours, Teenage Seductress) double feature is Purely Physical which follows the story of Kathy, played by Laura Lazare (Suzie Superstar, Love Letters). Kathy is studying journalism at college and applies for the job as a hotel receptionist so she can write about the human condition. Luckily for her, this is one seedy establishment with a whole host of deviants looking for a place to get down and dirty. It all starts off innocent enough with Jade Wong (Prisoner of Paradise, Oriental Madam) and Albert Bernard (in his only role) as a young couple wanting to make love for the first time. It gets a tad humorous when a travelling salesman with a passion for movie trivia played by Michael Morrison (Meatballs II, Taboo) takes a prostitute up to his room for some relaxing. As the scenes go on, it gets...

Talk about having nine lives! After her home in Stratford, east London, caught fire, Gert, a 4-year-old pet cat, was found lying motionless by firefighters who responded to the blaze on Sept. 28. Her owner, Michael Morrison, begged responders to save his cat's life, and lucky for him, some quick thinking managed to do just that. "It was horrible. I collapsed on the floor crying," Morrison said. "They were all huddled around her and even took my oxygen mask off for her." The move restarted Gert's breathing, and she was taken to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust center to continue recuperating.

Katie Couric‘s syndicated daytime talk show will be entering its second season with an entirely new team of senior producers and a director. Two weeks after Rachel Miskowiec was brought in as new executive producer, she has made a staffing changes, with co-executive producers Kathy Samuels and Ethan Nelson as well as director Joseph Terry departing. Katie launched last fall with Jeff Zucker as executive producer and Samuels and Michael Bass as co-exec producers. Zucker and Bass have since left for CNN, with Michael Morrison and Nelson joining in January as executive producer and co-exec producer, respectively. (Matt Strauss also was bumped to co-ep then.) Morrison left late last month, replaced by Miskowiec, who is expected to install her own team. "Katie" is getting its third executive producer this season, as Rachel Miskowiec replaces Michael Morrison, who replaced Jeff Zucker. It's not unusual for a show to get a new executive producer after its first season, but it is unusual to go through three in so short a time. Then again, not every show's executive producer departs to lead CNN, as Zucker did earlier this year. Producer Michael Bass, who has worked with Zucker for years, went with him. Miskowiec (pictured) is taking over next week at "Katie," the top new syndicated show...

Michael Morrison, who joined the show last January after Jeff Zucker exited to run CNN, will depart when the show wraps its first season in July. His replacement will be Rachel Miskowiec, a veteran of daytime television who has produced The Tyra Banks Show as well as Dr. Drew's Lifechangers. The announcement was made Friday by Vicki Dummer, executive vp ABC Media Group. Morrison's exit was expected as the show has cycled through a number of producers since it launched in September 2012. Exclusive: The rumored post-season changeover at Katie Couric’s daytime syndicated talk show is a reality. I’ve learned that veteran daytime talk show producer Rachel Miskowiec will be joining Katie as executive producer for the upcoming second season. She will replace Michael Morrison, who came on board in January, succeeding original executive producer Jeff Zucker who left to take over CNN. The move comes a month after original Katie co-executive producer Michael Bass followed his former boss Zucker to CNN. (He was replaced by Ethan Nelson, with producer Matt Strauss also getting a bump to serve as co-exec producer alongside Kathy Samuels.) The shakeup also follows a rocky freshman season for Katie. After a strong opening, the show slipped in the ratings. Its numbers eventually leveled off and Katie remained No.1 in households among all freshmen for the entire season but it has been running neck and neck in...

Although it's far from a breakout hit, Katie Couric's syndicated daytime talk show, "Katie," has officially been renewed for Season 2 by Disney-abc Domestic Television.
The show is the top-rated of several middling new entries into the daytime scene this season including efforts from Ricki Lake and Jeff Probst. "Katie" joins "Steve Harvey," "Trisha Goddard" and "Dish Nation" as the only daytime freshmen series so far to get a second season renewal.
"Katie" ranks sixth out of the 18 syndicated talk shows currently on the air and has been averaging 2.497 million viewers season-to-date.
Couric recently saw a ratings bump for her Jan. 24 interview with Mati Te'o and his parents, but also lost her original executive producer Jeff Zucker to a high-profile gig at CNN. Couric executive produces "Katie" with Michael Morrison ("The Martha Stewart Show").
Among the names entering the daytime field next season are Queen Latifah and -- possibly -- Kris Jenner,...

Disney-abc Domestic Television has formally renewed Katie Couric‘s freshman syndicated talk show Katie for a second season. The show has been renewed on its existing stations in over 95% of the country, including the ABC Owned station group, which already had a two-year deal for Katie. For the 19th straight week since its premiere (through the week of January 14, 2013), Katie continues to rank as the top freshman syndicated talker in Households, total viewers and women 25-54. Among all 18 syndicated talkers, Katie is No. 6 in households (1.9 rating), Total Viewers (2.497 million) and Women 25-54 (1.0 rating). On January 24, Couric’s first on-camera interview with Manti Te’o and his parents (2.6/7) jumped 30% over the show’s prior 4-week average. Katie joins fellow freshmen Steve Harvey, Trisha Goddard and Dish Nation, which also have been renewed for a second season. The formal greenlight for Katie comes days after original executive producer Jeff Zucker left to...

Michael Morrison has been tapped to replace Jeff Zucker as executive producer of Katie Couric's daytime talk show on ABC. Morrison, who comes to Katie after one season as executive producer on Martha Stewart's Martha, will take the reins in early January when the show resumes production after the holiday hiatus. Sources say Couric introduced Morrison to the staff Thursday. Zucker launched the show with Couric, his longtime collaborator during their time together at NBC News and Today. But in mid-January, he'll take over as president of CNN Worldwide, where he'll continue to be based in New York. Morrison joins

I’ve learned that Disney-abc Domestic Television is finalizing a deal with Michael Morrison to join Katie Couric‘s freshman talk show Katie as executive producer. I hear the hire will be announced to the staff of the show on Thursday. Morrison will take over showrunner responsibilities from departing executive producer Jeff Zucker, who co-owns the show with Couric. Morrison’s appointment allows continuity as Zucker is slated to leave for his new job as president of CNN Worldwide at the beginning of next month. In anticipation of Zucker’s exit, Disney-abc began quietly meeting with potential candidates to succeed Zucker at the helm of the show in October. When Zucker’s appointment at CNN was announced at the end of last month, the search accelerated and was quickly narrowed to several candidates with the goal to have someone in place by the end of the year. On Katie, Morrison...

Many people will be surprised when they realise that Snow Patrol have been around since 1994 (although they were known previously as Shrug and Polar Bear, and changed their name to Snow Patrol in 1997) and have released six studio recordings. Some people don’t see past their breakthrough album, Final Straw (2003), and might think that the band has had it easy. But they couldn’t be further away from the truth.
The band was formed at the University of Dundee by the ever-present Gary Lightbody and previous members, Michael Morrison and Mark McClelland. They were then known as the Shrug, and released an Ep titled the ‘Yoghurt vs Yoghurt Debate’ after playing gigs at the university and surrounding pubs. The Ep was a stirring success and the band (who were now called Snow Patrol after a quick name-change from Polar Bear) signed to independent label Jeepster Records in 1997. It was on...

Additionally, Michael Morrison, who will report to Darby, has been named executive producer of The Martha Stewart Show, which launches its seventh season on Hallmark Channel on Sept. 26.
