Cate Blanchett’s Lilith travels to a planet she hates to find a massive treasure hidden in a vault in the first trailer for Lionsgate’s Borderlands. Lilith can’t do the treasure hunt alone and is forced to team up with an odd assortment of people on a planet that has an actual gully made of piss.
The trailer gives off Guardians of the Galaxy vibes, and the film obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Eli Roth and Joe Crombie wrote the screenplay, based on the popular Borderlands video game franchise, with Roth directing. The action thriller stars Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jack Black as Claptrap, Ariana Gleenblatt as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, Edgar Ramirez as Atlas, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis.

Cate Blanchett is back in a wig and a franchise, following her iconic “Thor: Ragnarok” campiness. The Oscar winner and “Tár” lead actress transforms into vigilante Lilith for Eli Roth’s star-studded “Borderlands” video-game adaptation.
Blanchett’s character is an infamous outlaw who returns to her home planet of Pandora on a mission to track down the missing daughter of the universe’s top leader, Atlas (Edgar Ramírez). Lilith enlists former elite mercenary Roland (Kevin Hart), pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (“Barbie” breakout Ariana Greenblatt), her bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), mad scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and robot Claptrap (Jack Black) to help.
“These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power,” the synopsis reads. “The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.

The long-awaited reboot of the cult classic fantasy film ‘Highlander’ is finally moving forward, with Henry Cavill set to star as the immortal swordsman. The project, which has been in development for years, is helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski and produced by Lionsgate.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate launched sales at the American Film Market for the reboot, which is expected to have a budget of over $100 million and start production in 2024. The studio is targeting a 2026 release date, but no official date has been confirmed yet.
The original ‘Highlander’ film, released in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Scottish warrior who discovers he is one of a rare breed of immortals who can only be killed by decapitation. He must fight against other immortals in a centuries-long battle for “the Prize”, a mysterious power that grants the last survivor the ability to shape the world. The film...

In a thrilling announcement for film enthusiasts, Henry Cavill, previously acclaimed for his roles in ‘Superman’ and ‘The Witcher,’ is confirmed to lead the upcoming reboot of the iconic ’80s fantasy flick – ‘Highlander.’ Directed by Chad Stahelski, renowned for his work on the ‘John Wick’ series, this project promises to merge the grandeur of the original movie with a touch of modern cinematic brilliance.
The original ‘Highlander,’ which graced the silver screen back in 1986, featured the likes of Christopher Lambert, Clancy Brown, and Sean Connery. It painted a world where immortals roamed modern-day New York City, pursuing one another in a relentless quest for power. With the tagline “There can be only one,” it paved the way for a series of sequels and TV spin-offs. Queen’s unforgettable soundtrack only added to its legacy.

Seven years have gone by since John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski signed on to direct a reboot of the 1986 classic Highlander (watch it Here), and the filmmaker has been focused on making John Wick sequels while developing the new Highlander. But now John Wick seems to be taking a little break, so it looks like Stahelski might finally have some time to bring sword-wielding immortals back to the screen. Deadline reports that Lionsgate will be presenting Stahelski’s Highlander project to potential buyers at the upcoming American Film Market, looking for partners that will help them recoup the film’s budget, which is said to be over $100 million.
Two years have passed since Henry Cavill of Man of Steel and The Witcher signed on to star in the film, and Cavill remains attached to the project.

Exclusive: In the world of Highlander reboots, there can still only be one…and it’s a good one at that.
For the first time, Lionsgate will be launching sales at the AFM on their long-gestating fantasy reboot which has Henry Cavill aboard to star as the eponymous Scottish swordsman and John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski set to direct.
We hear this will be a big-budget proposition, north of $100M. Stahelski himself has previously talked about it as akin to John Wick with swords. The team is eyeing a 2024 start.
This will be welcome news for AFM buyers whose pool of pre-sale projects has been diminished by the ongoing strike.
The new movie will be based on the 1986 original, which starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown as immortal beings, hunting down one another and collecting more power. The time-jumping film — with its “There can be only one” tagline...

The final trailer for John Wick: Chapter 4 finds the titular character (Keanu Reeves) being advised the only way he’ll ever have freedom and peace is in death. In classic John Wick style, he replies, “Yeah, not really.” After action-packed clips of Wick knocking off dozens of adversaries, the trailer ends in the best way possible with a dog looking up at the canine-loving trained killer as if he’s asking what’s next.
The fourth film of the incredibly popular franchise also features Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Ian McShane also star.
Chad Stahelski, the director of the three previous John Wick films, directs this fourth film from a screenplay by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Stahelski, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee produced, with Keanu Reeves, Louise Rosner, David Leitch, and Michael Paseorn executive producing.

Beyond teasing new sword and guns fights, as well as horse and car chases, the minute-and-a-half teaser gives a special nod to the Baba Yaga and a brand new pup.
“The only way John Wick will ever have freedom and peace is in death,” a voiceover promises.

In franchise director Chad Stahelski’s latest outing, Reeves’ John Wick uncovers a path to defeating The High Table, where he must face off in single combat at sunrise against a new enemy, Bill Skarsgard’s Marquis de Gramont.
“A new day is dawning. New ideas, new rules, new management,” de Gramont tells Reeves at one point. In the image, which was shared on Twitter, our favorite assassin on the run is kneeling in apparent prayer, with his eyes closed, surrounded by dozens of lit candles. The caption reads, “And so it begins…”
We’re not sure what he’s praying for, but our prayer is that the film’s release date, March 24, 2023, gets here much faster.

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick is back for the fourth time, and he hasn’t slowed down a bit. Lionsgate teased “John Wick: Chapter 4” in an exclusive look at CinemaCon with the action film’s first full trailer, and it’s even more of the slick, stylish and hyper-violent action that fans of the franchise can never get enough of.
Lionsgate chair Joe Drake at CinemaCon compared the “John Wick” franchise to some of the subversive and unexpected ’70s movies of his childhood. He called the film a “modern myth,” “a singular experience” and “a cultural phenomenon” that is special because it started as an original story. And oh yeah, Keanu Reeves was on stage at Vegas to hype the movie too.
Reeves talked about first meeting director Chad Stahelski on “The Matrix” back in 1998, and Stahelski said that the latest chapter is an homage to all those classic action legends throughout the ages.

“If you’re going to run, do it now…” In the depths of a South American rainforest, an unusually frail-looking Jared Leto stands at the towering mouth of a sinister-looking cave, propped up by two walking sticks, his long, stringy hair draped over a green overcoat that swallows his frame. A small group of mercenaries look on nervously, edging back towards the helicopter behind them. He takes a large knife and draws it across his palm, before holding his hand up towards the hi-tech cage positioned in front of him. Something is stirring from within the darkness. But there’s a problem…
“The blood didn’t come out,” Leto says, looking off to the side. “Wanna go again?”
On any other production, that little practical-fx slip-up might have been ripe for the post-release blooper reel. But while Leto briefly breaks character to acknowledge the error, there’s no corpsing here – he remains focused,...

“It feels good to say, ‘Cinema is back!’” Vin Diesel told Variety on Saturday night.
It was reported the following morning that “F9: The Fast Saga” raked in $70 million from 4,179 North American theaters, marking the largest opening at the U.S. box office since 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” The previous holder of this feat was Paramount’s “A Quiet Place Part II” with $48.3 million.
While day-and-date hybrid releases have industry analysts uncertain about the longevity of this summer’s box office, studios are entering production on many major tentpole films. Four notable blockbusters commenced filming on Monday, signifying a long-awaited sign of confidence from Hollywood.
“Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom,” which is set to debut in theaters on Dec. 16, 2022, is entering production 18 months ahead of its release. James Wan, the horror filmmaker who helmed 2018’s “Aquaman,” posted a picture on Instagram in an icy cavern to show that filming is underway.

Amazon’s recent pickup of Sony’s Camila Cabello musical movie Cinderella will hit the streamer this fall in 240 countries.
As Deadline first told you last week, Sony decided to license worldwide (sans China) to Amazon instead of going with a summer theatrical release. Many reasons I heard for the sale, one being the continued closure of Latin American box office markets due the pandemic (except for Mexico), and I heard the streamer was mad for the movie which stars Idina Menzel, Billy Porter, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine and Pierce Brosnan and was directed by Kay Cannon.

Exclusive: In her feature debut, singer Camila Cabello will be seen fitted for the glass slipper on Amazon Prime. Amazon Studios is closing a deal to acquire worldwide rights to the Kay Cannon-directed musical Cinderella from Sony Pictures.
No premiere date yet, but the film will premiere later this year. Sony Pictures had once dated it for July, but the pandemic and theatrical windows are still uncertain, especially in Europe and Latin America. That triggered a deal that is similar in construct to previous ones the studio has made with streamers on films that include Fatherhood and Vivo. Sony retains China rights.
Cabello plays the title character and the supporting ensemble includes Idina Menzel, Billy Porter, Nick Galitzine, Minnie Driver and Pierce Brosnan. Cannon wrote the script, and the pic is produced by James Corden (who also plays a role in the film), Leo Pearlman, Jonathan Kadin, and Shannon McIntosh.

Out of all of the superheroes in the Marvel universe, Spider-Man's lineup of villains is perhaps the most eclectic, intriguing, and horrifying. Following the success of Sony's Venom, the studio is wasting no time developing other characters in Spider-Man's cinematic universe, and they've now officially unveiled the first teaser trailer for Morbius, including a look at the title character's vampiric transformation.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (based on the Marvel Comics character), Morbius stars Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. Executive produced by Louise Rosner and produced by Matt Tolmach, Avi Arad, and Lucas Foster, Morbius is slated for a July 31st theatrical release.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Morbius the Living Vampire, aka Dr. Michael Morbius, is a scientist who accidentally transformed himself into a bloodthirsty creature of the night.
