It was all the way back in 2011 when Terrence Malick first got cameras rolling on his Austin music scene movie aka "Weightless." All we know so far about the movie is that it's a tale of sexual obsession and betrayal that involves two love triangles, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender, Holly Hunter, Val Kilmer, Haley Bennett, and many, many more are part of the cast (though who makes the final cut, remains to be seen), and Malick filmed concert scenes at Austin City Limits in 2011 and 2012 featuring Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, and Black Lips. And while there's still no whisper of when this movie might be completed, it seems there's another name that was part of the production. After last week’s action extravaganza, “Strangers” is unsurprisingly a much quieter episode of The Walking Dead. Written by comic creator Robert Kirkman, “Strangers” follows the entire group traveling side by side, and introduces us to a new character (the mysterious Father Gabriel played by Seth Gilliam). Joining us this week to discuss the second episode of season five is guest Randy Dankievitch.

Every year she seems to get hotter, and Kate Moss proves whey she’s on top of the model game with her May 2014 cover for Harper's Bazaar.
The seemingly ageless beauty worked with Terry Richardson for the shoot, showcasing some of her very own Kate Moss Topshop designs along the way.
And while Kate has plenty of highly-paid staffers to keep her looking amazing, she usually just relies on her built-in tastemaker, 11-year-old daughter Lila.
Moss notes, “My daughter, Lila, is my style critic. She’ll say, ‘No, Mummy, you can’t wear that.’ She’s very good. I do trust her instinct.”
Kate also mentions she’s glad she’s developed a strong sense of what she wants- “Having the confidence to say no to things that I don’t feel comfortable with. I definitely feel more comfortable in my own skin since turning 40.”

Starring Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton as two vampires, Jim Jarmusch's film arrives on Australian screens this week. Get your fangs into the Guardian's coverage so far
Almost a year after it debuted at the Cannes film festival, where Peter Bradshaw gave it a middling review, describing its romantic name-dropping it as "studenty", Jim Jarmusch's "crypto-vampire love story" Only Lovers Left Alive arrives on Australian screens. Starring Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton as two vampires engaged in a centuries-old love affair, it took Jarmusch seven years to make after his American backers dropped out. Ironically, his reason for making it in the first place was because he'd heard that vampire films equalled big box office.

Lorde doesn't want to be pigeonholed as your typical pop princess. "I'm drawn to women who aren't painted in history as sweet figures. Patti Smith was prickly. She was frustrated. She didn't take people's s--t," she shares in the May 2014 issue of Fashion magazine. "There's no better music idol for young women, because there is a lot of pressure for us to be really positive all the time. Every photo shoot I do, I get asked for big smiles, and I shouldn't have to be that way." In that vein, the 17-year-old singer also wants her fans to know she has flaws and isn't ashamed of them. Earlier this week, she shared a close up of her acne after seeing a similar image had been...

Even in a generic corporate office, in the middle of an exhausting multi-city promotional tour, Tilda Swinton couldn't help but be cheeky. The statuesque Scottish Oscar-winner gave an impromptu tour of her home for the day — an antiseptic room at Sony Pictures Classics, distributor of her slow-burn vampire film Only Lovers Left Alive. Nothing can prepare you for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. We saw the film a few weeks back and trust us when we say that this is not at all what you’re expecting. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, as what the director has accomplished here is actually quite impressive, it’s just very different than the version of the Biblical story that you’re used to. We should have a full review for you this Friday but until then, here’s some more marketing material to tide you over.
First up is a new clip. In it, we get a glimpse of the animals heading over to Noah’s ark right before the flood arrives. “It begins” says Russell Crowe, as Aronofsky shows us hundreds, if not thousands of animals, heading to the vessel that’s going to protect them from God’s wrath.

Nothing about the forthcoming "Noah" will remind you of Sunday School except that it rains and there's an ark. With Darren Aronofsky spinning an environmental tale with fantasy elements, he brings a new but still Biblically-sound take on the story, one that forgoes the sunnier version you might have heard. So when it was announced that rock icon Patti Smith was working on a song for the tune, it kind of made sense. "She wrote this incredible lullaby that Russell Crowe sings to Emma Watson in the movie. It's really touching and beautiful," the director told Rolling Stone last month. And well, you can hear it for yourself, as the track recently premiered on the BBC, and was promptly ripped by those eager to hear the collaboration between Smith, Clint Mansell and Kronos Quartet. Hot damn. Before that is a new clip from "Noah," with animals headed in pairs to Russell Crowe's waiting ark.

A 30 second snippet of Patti Smith's "Mercy Is", featuring the Kronos Quartet, from Darren Aronofsky's Noah has premiered online (via BBC) and can be listened to in the player below. Aronofsky first revealed Smith's involvement to Rolling Stone saying: I've been friends with Patti for a long time, and I needed a lullaby for the movie because it's a big part of the story. I was telling Patti about my struggles, and it turns out she's studied lullabies and writes a lot of them. She was like, "Can I please write it for youc" And I said, "You're asking me that questionc" Laughs I said "absolutely" with as much of a poker face as possible. The marketing campaign for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is continuing today with four new TV spots, an IMAX poster and full details on Mr. Clint Mansell’s soundtrack. It’s a lot, but Paramount wants to make sure that they get people into theatres for this one. The film isn’t an easy sell, and given that it’s sure to cause quite a bit of controversy, the studio is doing everything in their power to get people on board with Aronofsky’s latest before it arrives.
Having seen Noah, I can tell you two things. And that’s pretty much all I can tell you since I’m under embargo. One, is that Mansell delivers another excellent score here. Intense, powerful and moving, it fits the film beautifully and is absolutely a highlight.

Darren Aronofsky's Noah is one huge question mark for me. As much as I love Aronofsky's work I fear his first big budget studio feature may be one where he is overly constrained and may not reflect his original vision as we've already heard it has been edited into "a version that will lure the broadest possible audience". I remain excited to see what he has to offer and today we have two new character posters (see below) along with word Patti Smith has written a lullaby for the film titled "Mercy Is", which will be sung by Noah (Russell Crowe) to his daughter Ila (Emma Watson). As for the film itself, Aronofsky sticks to the "everyone" line telling Rolling Stone, "The hope is that the film is for everyone. Kill Your Darlings made a splash at Sundance for first-time director John Krokidas, and not just because it starred Daniel Radcliffe as a budding collegiate writer named Allen Ginsberg. It presented a stylish, yet un-romanticized vision of Columbia University in the ’40s, a handful of recognizable stars as young literary icons (including Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac and Ben Foster as William S. Burroughs), and a largely unknown story of the murder that brought the Beat Generation together. It’s also a distinctly gay narrative during an awards season that has left us largely bereft of Lgbt characters, with the exception of Dallas Buyers Club and Blue is the Warmest Color. Kill Your Darlings is historical in scope but modern in its depiction of intellectual gay men and their gorgeous muse Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan in a breakout role).

In 1972, a couple of years after the Velvet Underground imploded, Lou Reed, struggling to latch onto his identity as a solo artist, kicked off a period of rapid-fire image transformation roughly parallel to the more high-profile one that David Bowie was enacting. For three or four years, Reed tried on his outlaw personas like costumes from hell (Iggy-ish gutter hunk, kohl-eyed leather-bar rock & roll animal, cropped-blond ambisexual mannequin). It was his way of tapping into the liberating boundary-bashing of the post-’60s wasteland. During that period, Reed tried to live up to the ideal of being a “transformer” (the title of his second,...

Singer/songwriter Lou Reed.
I interviewed Lou Reed in spring of 2003 in conjunction with the release of his latest album, The Raven. A hero of mine since childhood, our chat did not start out well. As I entered his office in Soho, he greeted me with a look combining contempt and outright revulsion: "Oh you little yuppie punk, please say something stupid so I can throw your ass outta my office," it seemed to say. Happily, Reed warmed up over the next two hours and we had a terrific chat about many things, recorded below.
Several months later, I attended his sold-out concert at the Wiltern in L.A. Backstage, I shook his hand and told him how much I enjoyed the show.. He managed a smile, patted my shoulder, and said "Nice work."
Rip Lou, and thanks for it all.

With just a day before it hits theaters, Indiewire has obtained an exclusive new clip from "Cbgb." In the brief peek from the film, which details the history of the titular 1970's music club, Malin Akerman can be seen doing her best Debbie Harry impression as she belts out Blondie's classic song "Sunday Girl" amidst the cramped and sweaty musical establishment the group would go on to become synonymous with. Blondie is just one of the many bands portrayed in the film, as The Ramones, Talking Heads, Iggy Pop, and Patti Smith are also shown getting their start around the music establishment's heyday, considered by many to be one of the birthplaces of the punk movement. Watch the clip below. The film opens this Friday in select theaters.

Heebyjeeby: Miller Fails To Reclaim Glory Days of Punk
Perhaps it goes without saying that the more invested one is in the gloriously exciting New York City punk scene from the 1970s, the stronger disdain they’ll have towards Randall Miller’s latest film, Cbgb, so titled for the famed dive bar in the Bowery neighborhood which birthed the careers of numerous notable musical talents. While this is the director’s third effort in a row headlining Alan Rickman (following Nobel Son and Bottle Shock), their pairing has yet to yield a wholly satisfactory endeavor, even with the enjoyable thesp featured in juicy leading form. Miller’s latest is sure to suffer the greatest ire since it attempts to recreate a beloved golden age of musical genius with middling success. Moments of nostalgic emotion are ever so briefly reached, and evaporate so quickly that your only desire will be to...

Ever wonder how the legendary Cbgb came to be? In the new film, appropriately titled Cbgb, director Randall Miller and co-writer Jody Savin give audiences a glimpse into the world that Hilly Kristal built… a little bar that became the birthplace of American punk music.
Recently, Wamg attended a press day for the film at the famous Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA. Participating in the press conference were Johnny Galecki (Terry Ork), Freddy Rodriguez (Idaho), Joel David Moore (Joey Ramone), Director/Co-Writer Randy Miller, and Co-Writer Jody Savin. Check it out below. (Side note: Sorry if it is a bit shaky. I was trying out my new camera.)

Two years before Diane Keaton charmed audiences in Annie Hall, she posed for photographer Norman Seeff. But Seeff says Keaton's off-camera persona matched up with what she portrayed on-screen. "You know when you see Diane in a movie and there’s this kind of personality, this bright-eyed innocence? When I worked with her, there was this same feeling, but underneath the innocence was such a smart woman. She had the wonderful ability to just be herself. She flowed from one thing to the other, so I just kept pace with her. It was a jewel of a session," he told...

The album cover for NYC-based performance artist Marla Mase’s Speak Deluxe tells you everything you need to know about what’s in store for the listener.
What lies beneath that stoic, I-Am-Woman portrait is the type of primordial feminism we just don’t see a great deal in popular music anymore.
Sure, a lot of mainstream sensations talk about how they want to be role models for young women, but how many actually deliver beyond the requisite lip service? How many are willing to lunge themselves into the muck and write songs that are as polarizing as they are poetic?
Mase strives to do just that on her latest release, and, for the most part, fares well despite some tracks not striking me the way I initially thought they would.

New York was a darker place in the 1970s, when President Ford essentially told the bankrupt city to “Drop dead,” and Martin Scorsese’s Travis Bickle rhapsodized about “a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.” It was the perfect breeding ground for a generation of angry youth whose creative obsessions with rebellion and anarchy, both real and stylized, became legendary at a church of punk called Cbgb. The club was a dive when it opened in 1973 and it was exactly the same when it finally closed in 2006. But for 30-some years, bands like Talking Heads,...

While most of the planet on Sunday night was tuned into AMC to watch the finale of "Breaking Bad," music lovers in New York City set their DVRs and headed to The Town Hall for "Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating The Music Of 'Inside Llewyn Davis.' " And they got a big musical treat. Stars from the film including Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Adam Driver, were joined by an array of musical talent such as Marcus Mumford, Elvis Costello, The Avett Brothers, Joan Baez, Rhiannon Giddens of Carolina Chocolate Drops, Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, Patti Smith, Gillian Welch and Jack White to perform songs from the film, and Bleeding Cool has dug up some footage which has landed online. Now, a caveat: the performances are great, particularly Mumford and Isaac performing the film's theme "Fare Thee Well," but the real surprise song of the movie is "Please Mr.

A newly brunette Carey Mulligan had a big weekend while promoting her latest project, Inside Llewyn Davis, around NYC. On Saturday, Carey hit the red carpet for a screening of the movie during the New York Film Festival at Alice Tully Hall. She stepped out in a black Alexander McQueen dress and debuted her darker 'do while posing for photos. The following evening, Carey joined her Inside Llewyn Davis costars Oscar Isaac and John Goodman, the film's directors Joel and Ethan Coen, and a group of musicians including Patti Smith, Conor Oberst, and her husband, Marcus Mumford, at a one-night-only concert, "Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis," in Manhattan. Carey spoke on stage during the event before crooning alongside folk singers Gillian Welch and Rhiannon Giddens. Justin Timberlake, who also stars with Carey in the music drama, wasn't able to attend as he was busy...

Last night in New York City, A-listers, journalists, and a small group of fans who were lucky enough to snag tickets online, came out to celebrate the newest Coen brothers movie at the legendary Town Hall in Midtown Manhattan. Over the course of three hours, a rotating cast of artists performed a wide range of standard folk tunes, along with tracks from the "Inside Llewyn Davis" soundtrack.
