Supernatural is long gone — The CW’s horror hit ended with a tear-jerking finale in 2020 — but its spirit lives on in…Wordle? Yep, it’s true. Besides hanging out whenever they can at fan conventions, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Rob Benedict, Ruth Connell, Richard Speight Jr., and Misha Collins have found a way to carry on — and compete — through the online word-guessing game. “We text each other our Wordle results every day!” says Collins, who played trench coat-wearing angel Castiel on the show for 12 seasons. He’ll have a little less time for word games, though, now that he’s playing Two-Face, one of Batman’s most tragic villains, in the new DC Universe-set drama Gotham Knights. Ironically, the 48-year-old actor was of two minds about taking on the dual role of upstanding D.A. Harvey Dent and his turned-evil disfigured alter ego. Besides wondering if he was right for the job,...

This article contains spoilers for The Winchesters through episode 8.
Back when it first aired in November 2020, the ending of The CW’s beloved Supernatural was met with some criticism. Some viewers were miffed about a tacked-on “Destiel” fan service, while others were incredibly angry that Dean met his end in a seemingly run-of-the-mill hunt, and some more still were just bemoaning that the series had just been on for too long at that point. Supernatural ended in a big way, with God being replaced, Dean (Jensen Ackles) dying, and Sam (Jared Padalecki) getting a really bad wig and old age makeup before he reunites with his brother in Heaven. It was a tumultuous time.

When the past returns, it’s always hard to tell if it’s going to be good or bad, but in the case of The Winchesters, it’s both.
Following Samuel's surprise return in the previous episode, on The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 8, Mary, John, and Millie watch over him, but different feelings arise while doing so.
Meanwhile, as Carlos and Lata investigate the death of a musician, someone from Carlos' past makes an appearance and causes trouble, but some familiar faces come back in unique ways.
With Samuel finally back, deep-rooted feelings are brought up, and it doesn’t help that he’s still in recovery.
Even though Gil McKinney reprised his role as Henry from Supernatural on The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 7, that was not the case for Samuel. After seeing Tom Welling play him for an episode, I don’t really mind.
John: You did it, Mary. You found him.

It's the midseason finale of The Winchesters, directed by Supernatural alum Richard Speight Jr., and John and Mary are both in for a surprise.
On The Winchesters Season 1 Episode 7, as the gang closes in on the Akrida, Mary finds a clue that brings her closer to finding her dad, while John must decipher notes from his own father.
Meanwhile, Roxy may not be who John, Mary, and the others thought she was, and they may be up against something even bigger when it comes to the Akrida.
Fans can usually expect a midseason finale to go out with a bang, and The Winchesters did not disappoint.
From revelations to returns, this episode had just about everything.
It was only just a matter of time before we finally came across Samuel, and the way the series introduced him was emotional.

HBO's "Band of Brothers" remains one of the great TV shows and a devastatingly powerful recreation of World War II. Conceived by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks shortly after their Academy Award-winning World War II epic "Saving Private Ryan," "Band of Brothers," based on the book by Stephen E. Ambrose, chronicles "Easy" Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division's experiences in Europe. We follow this ragtag group of Americans through boot camp, D-Day, and Bastogne; witness their most ferocious battles; and watch as the war emotionally and physically impacts each of them.
As a bonus, preceding each episode is an introduction from various real-life members of Easy Company. They describe the action in their own words so that it resonates deeper. It's one thing to watch these events and another to hear a veteran recall the experience first-hand.

Richard Speight Jr. played the trickster Loki, or the angel Gabriel, or the angel Gabriel pretending to be Loki on twelve episodes of Supernatural over the course of that show’s fifteen seasons, and now it has been announced that he has reprised the role of Loki for episode 8 of the prequel series The Winchesters! The Winchesters airs on The CW at 8pm Est on Tuesday nights. It’s currently only three episodes into its debut season, so it will be a few more weeks before Speight shows up. Speight is also on board to direct a few episodes of the show. He previously directed eleven episodes of Supernatural.

It’s getting tricky over at The Winchesters! The CW has just confirmed that Supernatural alum Richard Speight Jr. is set to reprise his role as Loki on the eighth episode of the mothership’s prequel hit. As Spn fans know, Speight’s character is the Norse demigod and the original Trickster, described by the net’s release as being “as dangerous as he is wily.” Still sporting that “veneer of whimsy to mask his malevolence, Loki thrives on crooked games and sowing chaos — and Hunters are one of his favorite playthings.” Dean Buscher/The CW “Richard’s an old friend of mine, so it was a question of when, not if,” offers showrunner Robbie Thompson, who gives “total credit” to the show’s writers for finding a way to work Loki into the early Winchester lore. “I think it was in New Orleans actually when we were shooting Episode...

The angel Gabriel and God himself are entering the recording booth for a "Supernatural" rewatch and an accompanying podcast. Actors Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict, who played those selfsame roles of Gabriel and God on the long-running WB and CW series, are launching "Supernatural: Then and Now," a podcast where they will wind their way back through 15 seasons and 327 episodes of television.
"Supernatural" ran for a full decade and a half, from 2005 to 2020, but according to Collider, the podcast will be a weekly affair, so Speight and Benedict could conceivably get through the series in about 6 years. Mark your calendars, then, from now until 2028.

Tim Blake Nelson in the Western Old Henry. Courtesy of Shout! Studios and Hideout Pictures.
The classic Western rides again, with Tim Blake Nelson playing a quiet widowed farmer with teen-aged son on a hardscrabble Oklahoma farm, who takes in a wounded man found with a bag full of money and soon finds trouble follows. Writer/director Potsy Ponciroli’s low-budget indie Western action film Old Henry sports a much better than expected cast, and is elevated greatly by Tim Blake Nelson in a rare lead role.
Old Henry evokes classic Westerns, with its tale of an aging widowed farmer with a teen-aged son, defending his homestead when a group of armed men come looking for the wounded stranger they took in, and the bag of loot he had with him. Both the stranger and the men who have come looking for him claim to be lawmen, leaving the farmer to decide who to believe.

Henry’s (Tim Blake Nelson) been living and farming his Oklahoma land for almost two decades, if not more—the last ten as a single father to the now-teenage Wyatt (Gavin Lewis). Despite having help from his brother-in-law down the way (Trace Adkins’ Al), this life isn’t an easy one and the kid is desperate to escape it as much because of the work as the stone wall his dad has become. Wyatt feels he’s still being treated like a child when he knows he deserves more; Henry won’t let him hold a gun, let alone learn to shoot one. Tensions rise, Henry’s refusal to bend grows, and you can sense Wyatt is readying to leave the first chance he gets. Then everything changes.

After half a year of forced on-screen hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, “Supernatural” is wrapping up its 15-season run, beginning with a standalone episode entitled “Last Holiday” on Oct. 8.
“It’s like the last breath you take before you’re about to take your final sprint or something,” series star Jared Padalecki tells Variety. “Strangely, it’s a serendipitous welcome back to the final seven episodes because it’s sort of a chance to go, ‘All right, everybody take a deep breath, let’s laugh a little bit, let’s see the boys allow someone to give them some breaks.'”
The title of the episode may seem a bit ominous — as if it is implying that the holiday celebrations that the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Padalecki), celebrate within are their last ones (not just the last ones the audience will celebrate with them). “I think...

“Supernatural” fans, rejoice: co-showrunner Andrew Dabb is here to reassure you that despite having to make some tweaks to the final episodes due to the coronavirus-forced production shutdown, the ending of The CW’s beloved monster-hunting show has not been “fundamentally” changed.
“We’re still doing everything we wanted to do from a character, plot [and] mythology standpoint,” Dabb said in an interview with TVLine Thursday.
We learned back in August that the two final episodes underwent some changes when star Jensen Ackles opened up about it in a Zoom conversation, but Dabb says that the emotional core of the ending remains intact.
“In some cases, we had to simplify the [pathways] to get there,” Dabb said. “For example, for the finale, we had a big, super extravagant thing planned for that episode, and it wasn’t feasible. But we found an alternative to get to the same place, plot-wise and, more importantly,...

Richard Speight Jr.’s character on “Supernatural” was Loki, the Norse trickster god, before we found out that he was actually the archangel Gabriel in disguise — but no matter what you call him, there’s no doubt the man still has some trickster energy.
As the rollout of the last seven episodes of the beloved CW monster-hunting series approaches on October 8, followed by the series finale on November 19, we started to wonder whether some characters who left the series in the past might make a cameo in the show’s final episodes.
Even though we’re pretty sure that Gabriel was killed off in Season 13 we asked Speight, who directed four episodes in the 15th and final season, if ol’ Gabriel might make one last comeback before it’s all over.
Here’s his frustratingly puzzling answer. “Well, if I said it, it wouldn’t be a surprise,” he told TheWrap.

Netflix’s Lucifer may have recently premiered the first half of its split fifth season, but things have been stagnant behind-the-scenes ever since production was shut down due to the pandemic way back in March. That, however, is about to change, with the reveal of a solid date on which cameras will once again roll.
Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 is scheduled to resume production at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank on Thursday, September 24. While a release date for the eight-episode Season 5B portion has yet to manifest, the production date, as reported by TV Line, provides a North Star of sorts for an estimate. With safety measures likely nullifying any effort to rush things, a 2021 release date seems feasible at this point, seeing as the 5B finale will be immediately tackled. Additionally, as already known, production on Season 6 will quickly commence after said finale wraps.

Richard Speight Jr. is a man of many hats. The actor and director played the archangel Gabriel on The CW’s beloved monster-hunting series “Supernatural” and directed no less than four episodes of its 15th and final season this year. But while most people were hunkering down in quarantine, he was making a music video with his band, Dick Jr. & The Volunteers.
The song, called “Goin’ Straight” is off of the band’s debut 2019 album “The Dance and How to Do It.” You might have heard it in “Supernatural’s” midseason finale episode, “Our Father, Who Aren’t In Heaven,” back in December. Watch the music video, premiered exclusively by TheWrap, above.

Fifteen years. That’s how long Sam and Dean Winchester will have been a part of their fans’ lives by the time the final season of Supernatural ends. We’ll let that sink in for a moment…
At their final Hall H appearance at the Sdcc, all it took was one question to bring the duo to tears. Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict, who play Gabriel/Loki and God on the show, were the moderators and they asked the stars what they thought about the series ending. I mean, come on guys, what did you expect to happen? Jared Padalecki’s response: “Can we all just start crying so I don’t feel so weird?”
Laura Prudom tweeted it perfectly:
Welp, Jared and Jensen cried so now we’re all crying in the final #Supernatural panel. Love these dudes and this fandom so much. What an amazing ride. pic.

There are a lot of goodbyes this Comic-Con, and while Arrow took the stage yesterday, today the cast and crew of Supernatural took the stage one last time.
Series stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert and executive producers Robert Singer, Andrew Dabb, Eugenie Ross-Leming, Brad Buckner, and Robert Berens were all on hand to recall the years and tease the final season.
With a series that has been on the air as long as Supernatural, you get a lot of memories.
The sizzle reel to that effect clocks in at over ten minutes.
Veronica Mars Finale: Are You Cussing Kidding Me?!?
Seeing all 14 years flash before their eyes, guests got to enjoy Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” and “Bad Moon Rising” as well as Kansas’ iconic “Carry on Wayward Son”.

On Sunday morning, the cast and creators of Supernatural took the dais in Hall H during Comic-Con — for the last time. Series stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert and executive producers Robert Singer, Andrew Dabb, Eugenie Ross-Leming, Brad Buckner, and Robert Berens stepped on to the stage in what will be a long goodbye as they will end the CW series after the upcoming 15th season.
An extensive reel of Supernatural‘s greatest hits (it was over 10 minutes long!) that included footage from all 14 seasons set to the tunes of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” and “Bad Moon Rising” as well as Kansas’ iconic “Carry on Wayward Son”. There were lots of familiar faces and plenty of cheers in the video scrapbook celebrating the 14 seasons. It is a very sad day for fans of the hit CW series “Supernatural” as the news was revealed that the series will be coming to an end after its’ 15th season. The series follows brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester as they follow their father’s footsteps in the “family business” which happens to be hunting down supernatural monsters.
The news of the cancellation was heartbreaking to both the cast and fans, many who were shocked when the news broke as a Twitter posting via actor Jared Padalecki who along with his co-stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins shared a heartfelt video thanking fans for their unwavering support for all these years. “We wanted you to hear from us that although we’re excited about next year,” Padalecki said, “it will be the finale.”
Hey #SPNFamily here’s a little message from @JensenAckles @mishacollins and me.

Supernatural, the longest-running sci-fi series on primetime TV, took its traditional Sunday spot in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.
Moderated by Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict (both appear on the show), the panel included the Winchesters Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as well as Misha Collins and Comic-Con first-timer Alexander Calvert. Executive producers and co-showrunners Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb also took the dais alongside executive producing/writing team Eugenie Ross-Leming and Brad Buckner to talk about the upcoming 14th season without revealing any spoilers.
Season 14 also marks a huge milestone for the series. The Winchesters and company will hit the 300 mark when Episode 13 of the season hits. Singer and Dabb might not have everything planned out, but they did give fans some minor details.
“Andrew has a plan — he hasn’t let me in on it,” said Singer. “I am directing it … but I’d like to know what I am directing!

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Unfinished Business,” the 20th episode of the 13th season of “Supernatural.”
Richard Speight Jr. has directed episodes of “Supernatural” before — starting in season 11, through season 12 and now two more in season 13. And while he considers each one challenging in their own right, he admits he never could have taken on “Unfinished Business,” an episode in which he had to direct himself as an actor in two distinct roles, had he not already stepped behind the camera on the show.
“When you’re directing an episode that you’re not in, it’s a big challenge. You’re already looking at an enormous cruise ship you’ve got to move nimbly through the water,” Speight tells Variety. “When you put yourself in the scene, then it’s a different animal. Each [episode] is its own challenge with a steep learning curve,...

Fresh off a thrilling episode featuring Supernatural faves Rob Benedict and Richard Speight, Jr., we're getting our first taste of what hunky and talented Matt Cohen will do with his role as Jack's son, Ryan on Criminal Minds Season 2 Episode 7.
From what little information I have, it's going to be a stunner!!
On "La Huesuda," the International Response Team is called to Tijuana when a night of partying ends tragically for an 18-year-old American student.
Coincidentally, Jack also makes a discovery of his own while tooling around Mexico.
His son, Ryan, is working undercover with the Mexican drug cartels.
Is that a strange way for the worlds of father and son to meet up or what?
The two men are going to have to come to come to terms with what it means for both father and son to be in the business.
Even if it's being done as part of an operation,...

A prince of hell? The return of the Colt?
Supernatural Season 12 Episode 12 was a stylish hour that took a case of the week and spun in some lore as well.
So was this an episode that TV Fanatic staff writers Sean McKenna and Christine Laskodi andEdit The Winchester Family Business’ Alice and Nightsky all loved?

What was your favorite scene or quote?
Christine: It's so hard to choose just one! I loved that first diner scene. I actually hoped for some payoff with Cas and Mandy as a tag. He had just cheated death, that calls for some action, I'd say!
I also loved that burning circle standoff with the Winchesters - they were just bad-ass mofos there.
Dean's little bit about family got me all emotional.
But man, oh man,...

What a refreshing hour of Supernatural!
Right from the outset of Supernatural Season 12 Episode 12, there was something different. The camera shots, the pacing, the soundtrack.
It was during the slow motion scene with Sam, Dean, Mary and Wally that I had to check on the director.
Turns out, Richard Speight Jr., who played Gabriel on the show, was at the helm. Though, it wasn’t his first time directing Sam and Dean Winchester, as he also directed Supernatural Season 11 Episode 8, “Just My Imagination.”
Some of the episodes for Supernatural Season 12 have left me unimpressed, and I haven’t been wowed by the storylines so far, but something was reinvigorating about this particular hour.
There was some real excitement and tension. There was diving into the lore with the Prince of Hell and the return of the Colt. And though I’ve grown tired of Lucifer this season, there was something...

To Supernatural fans, Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict might be best known as Gabriel and God, respectively. In their new web series the Supernatural alums are hoping to get fans to know them by different names, their actual names ... well, kind of. In the vein of several other web series, most notably Con Man, Rich and Rob have created a web series inspired by their own lives and their interaction with the Supernatural fandom at fan conventions. Kathryn F. Taylor makes her writing, directing and producing debut with horror flick The Evil Gene.
