Attendance was down by 30 percent at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Not surprising, considering the recession still biting and Euro exchange rates keeping prices along the Croisette at ridiculously expensive levels. Yet the number of high-profile genre films in the Official Competition was a bonus for those more used to finding the most controversial entries up for distributor grabs in the Market section. While Park Chan-wook’s Thirst and Gaspar Noe’s Enter The Void certainly had their followers, with Terry Gilliam’s out-of-competition The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus a similar hot ticket, the two biggest stories were Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist.

How disappointing! Don't you just hate when a movie is seemingly chock full of human prey, flesh eating predators, human evolution, and an unknowing research team lost in the Swiss Alps, but the title turns out to have an unimpressive poster? Such is the case with French film Humains from directors Jacques-Olivier Molon and Pierre-Olivier Thevenin. Over at 24FramesPerSecond.Net, they nabbed the final theatrical poster for the flick that is set to hit theaters in France April 22nd. But we ask you, North-American horror lovers: Is the poster less than stellar or is it just us and our inflated, sick, twisted and unreasonable expectations?...

Further to our earlier story the official teaser trailer for Pierre-Olivier Thévenin and Jacques-Olivier Molon's upcoming French horror Humains is now out. It's very obvious now the earlier one was a rough cut, as this new one though shorter, is a far more polished affair. A team of several researchers travel to the Swiss Alps to investigate a scientific discovery on human evolution. The trip, however, turns into a deadly fight for survival when the team crash into a gully and find themselves falling prey to someone...or something...

We've been reporting on this upcoming French horror movie, known as "Humans" and "Humains," for some time now. Here's the first look at the teaser trailer. In "Humains" (or "Humans"), a group of researchers is stalked by some kind of evil entity or creature during a travel to the Swiss Alps which goes disastoursly wrong. The film is being directed by Jacques-Olivier Molon and Pierre-Olivier Thevenin (both known primarily for special effects work), with an April 22 release date set for France. The tagline is "Are we the only humans on earth?" . .

Pierre-Olivier Thévenin and Jacques-Olivier Molon’s debut feature Humains - or simply Humans in English - is a film we’ve been tracking for a good while now, in now small part because the directing duo were also the effects team behind the stunning Inside. Of course it also didn’t hurt that Twitch faves Dominique Pinon and Philippe Nahon star in the thing.
A team of several researchers travel to the Swiss Alps to investigate a scientific discovery on human evolution. A family of tourists who have come to take part in the famous carnival. The trip, however, turns into a deadly fight for survival when everyone crashes into a gully and find themselves falling prey to someone…or something.
Sales outfit Overlook Entertainment have been spreading the word that this is more of an adventure film than it is a horror but until now we’ve had nothing...

This teaser for Pierre-Olivier Thévenin and Jacques-Olivier Molon's much anticipated thriller, Humains might just be one of the worst cut together pieces of promotion I've seen in a while. Not only does it feel like the shots are edited together completely randomly, but Gast Waltzing's frenetic score is so loud in the mix that it's almost distracting. Never mind though, we're just excited to see footage.

Unfortunately there are no creature(s) yet folks. Lots of shots of heroes running from unseen beasties but no sense of what it is. But if you're dying for a more peaceful look at some images check out our past gallery.

The teaser trail is out for Pierre-Olivier Thévenin and Jacques-Olivier Molon's upcoming French horror Humains (aka Humans). Much of the action involves the heroes running, screaming and yes you guessed it dieing in assorted manners. No shots of the creatures, but then perhaps that’s as it should be, its supposed to tease after all. The flick follows the story of: "A team of several researchers travel to the Swiss Alps to investigate a scientific discovery on human evolution. The trip, however, turns into a deadly fight for survival when the team crash into a gully and find themselves falling prey to someone...or something." Humains opens in France April 22nd.

A brand new group of images have come to light for Jacques-Oliver Molon Pierre-Olivier Thevenin's "Humains" ("Humans") which is looking for a release in 2009. The trip, however, turns into a deadly fight for survival when the team crash into a gully and find themselves falling prey to someone...or something. We just found ourselves in possession of a bevy of new images for Jacques-Oliver Molon's and Pierre-Olivier Thévenin's upcoming Frech thriller Humains (Humans) and figured we'd post 'em up in our brand new gallery system for y'all. We've been reporting on Humains for a while now, spurred on by the alarming tag-line; ""Are we the only human beings on Earth?" Word from a little birdy though is that Humains is actually becoming quite a Z movie. Take that as you will.
"A group of researchers travels to the Swiss Alps to investigate a scientific discovery that could bring the whole of human evolution into question. The trip turns into a nightmare when their minibus crashes to the bottom of a gully. Lost in the midst of the mountains, the group must organize itself to survive. Yet someone, or something, seems to be after them…"

New artwork came down today for two new French horror films that both seem more than worthy of us keeping an eye on.
First up is Mutants, a film by David Morley. Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Mutants follows a couple trying to escape a pack of bloodthirsty mutant types, but things go south very quickly when one of them is bitten. The new poster art (click to see it bigger) showed up on director Morley’s MySpace page recently, and while it’s about as low-tech as they come, it’s enough to pique my interest.
Then there’s Humains from Pierre-Olivier Thévenin and Jacques-Olivier Molon. Blair Witch got its hands on a ton of stills from the film, which is about researchers in the Swiss Alps who run afoul of something hideous. Unfortunately none of the pics show off what that something is, but I’m sure we’ll know soon enough!

Chalk this up as something we could be keeping an eye on. Attempts to contact the trio of production companies in Zurich, Luxembourg and France have proven to be fruitless in these last 24 hours so I’ll offer up what we know right now. French actors Lorànt Deutsch, Dominique Pinon [Dante 01, City of Lost Children and Delicatessen], Philippe Nahon [Haute Tension and Brotherhood of the Wolf] and Sara Forestier [Perfume: The Story of a Murderer] star in the film. This will be the debut film by Pierre-Olivier Thévenin and Jacques-Olivier Molon. Pierre-Olivier and Jacques-Olivier chiseled their jibs as makeup effects men on Twitch favorites like Inside and Blade II [well, Inside at least I can’t speak for everyone else about Blade II]. So we can be sure at least there will be very good effects in film. Just how bloody they will get with them we’ll have to see. What is it with French directing duos by the way? Its...

If there’s one country we should all be keeping our eyeballs on for hot new horror, it’s France. I never thought I would write those words, but I just can’t argue with the evidence; there’s a lot of good stuff coming from our French brothers & sisters these days. Could Humans be the next one?
The boys at B-d got a look at the new poster for Humans, and it’s one of those eye-trick art pieces. At first glance you see a woman walking into a cave (well, I did), but take a step back and it’s actually they eye socket of ... something. Ape? Alien? Monster?
How's about some Humans plot? A team of several researchers travel to the Swiss Alps to investigate a scientific discovery on human evolution. The trip, however, turns into a deadly fight for survival when the team crash into a...
