When interviewing Arnaud Desplechin last fall, I briefly got word of the film that will follow his recently released My Golden Days. As it went:
“I formed this character. It’s about this character, and I was thinking about Vertigo. It’s a melancholy… it’s not melancholy. It’s quite a tragic character… no, it’s not a tragic character. It’s a strange character. It’s a strange woman. She disappeared for 20 years, and she’s back, and I started to write some good scenes with this material, this woman who’s back from the dead. She was supposed to be dead and she’s back. The guy is surprised. I’m calling him Ismael right now. Just right now; I will change it later. Right now I’m calling him Ismael, and I realized that this woman is coming from Sabbath’s Theater.”
This is now coming to fruition.

One glance at Michael Fassbender’s decorated and ever-growing resume will tell you that the actor isn’t one to shy away from difficult roles. From his breakout as Bobby Sands in Hunger almost a decade ago to numerous turns as the mercurial Magneto, Fassbender continues to be a compelling screen presence, making him the perfect fit to play Jack Unterweger in true crime story, Entering Hades.
Setting up shop at Broad Green Pictures, with production help from Storyscape Entertainment and Fassbender’s own Dmc Film, the real-life drama will pull inspiration from John Leake’s novel recounting Unterweger’s remarkable and frankly harrowing story. In development for some time, the live-action adaptation of Ghost In The Shell is at long last accruing its cast. Alas, during pre-production the movie has received criticism for its lack of diversity – which is considerable as the source material is a much-revered piece of Japanese anime.
With that in mind, you might view this latest casting announcement as a way of rectifying that blunder as Variety reports that Beat Takeshi will take a supporting role in the film.
Kitano is set to appear as Daisuke Aramaki, chief of Public Security Section 9, and the boss of Scarlett Johansson’s cyborg cop. The decision to install such a high-profile Japanese filmmaker and actor in the key role of Aramaki is certainly a step in the right direction to diversifying the cast. TNT made a major play in acquiring Artificial Intelligence, a new show that will revolve around an “escaped” AI, and the efforts to monitor, stop, prevent, understand whatever it may be trying to do. The show is written by Luc Besson (who may direct the pilot) and Bill Wheeler, and marks a new step in TNT’s growing effort to include… “out of the ordinary” programming.
With Lucy 2 and the massive-budget Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets already on his plate, this shift in gears may make for one of television’s most interesting new shows. Considering the rather open description, which could lead us through a unique vision of what it means to live with an AI “out there,” there’s no telling exactly where this show could take audiences.

TNT has picked up EuropaCorp TV USA's original science fiction series "Artificial Intelligence" - the first time "The Fifth Element" and "Lucy" director Luc Besson has written a television series for the Us market.
The series essentially sounds like "Species" but with an A.I. rather than an alien. In it an artificial intelligence entity escapes its laboratory confinement and starts carrying out mysterious plans. The AI's creator assembles a team of specialists to discern its objective and warn the world of imminent dangers.
Besson and Bill Wheeler co-created and will write and executive produce the series. Besson is also reportedly considering directing the pilot, the first he has ever done.
Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros would also executive produce.

He’ll be the chief antagonist to Scarlett Johansson’s “augmented-cybernetic human” leader of the covert Section 9 team, Major Motoko Kusanagi. Danish actor Pilou Asbaek has also siged on as Kusanagi’s second in command, Batou.

While on the promotional tour for Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson lightly touched on the status of her next big-budge tentpole, Dreamworks' live-action Ghost in the Shell. “It’s happening. It will be shooting the beginning of next year, so I think we start production January or February and it’s me and Rupert [Sanders]; and that’s all I know.” Johansson somersaulted Suicide Squad's Margot Robbie for the lead role in the adaptation of Masamune Shirow's manga (It's still unconfirmed whether Johansson is playing The Major or someone new in Dreamworks' vision). Bill Wheeler penned the script. Avi Arad, Steven Spielberg and Steven Paul are overseeing the project. It's interesting that Johansson states that she only knows when filming begins and that's all. Does that mean she hasn't read the script yet? The film is currently slated for release on April 14, 2017.

Sources close to Variety have confirmed that Scarlett Johansson has finally agreed to take the lead role in Dreamworks' adaptation of the immensely popular Japanese manga/anime Ghost in the Shell. Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is still attached to direct a screenplay written by The Cape's Bill Wheeler. There is a lot to mull over here. Ghost in the Shell is pretty much an revered institution in the anime and manga world. I do not know if the Ghost in the Shell fans and the Marvel Universe fans inter-mingle at any point, other than conventions, and only then by proximity. But Johansson (and her Avengers stunt doubles: Heidi Monkeymaker, Casey Michaels and Helen Steinway Bailey respectively) has (have) proven herself (themselves) as Black Widow...

Scarlett Johansson is rapidly becoming Hollywood’s go-to actress for badass action roles. In addition to showing the boys how it’s done as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the McU, she made some waves in Luc Besson’s Lucy, and quietly destroyed men’s souls in Under the Skin. According to Variety, Johansson has now signed on to appear in DreamWorks’ adaptation of the anime film Ghost in the Shell.

Scarlett Johansson has reportedly been offered a whopping $10 million to star in the live-action adaptation of "Ghost in the Shell" at DreamWorks.
"The Wolf of Wall Street" actress Margot Robbie was reportedly in talks last month to star in the adaptation of Masamune Shirow's manga title which spawned numerous anime adaptations including the beloved 1995 "Ghost In The Shell" anime film.
Those talks have apparently fallen apart with Robbie now being lined up for David Ayer's adaptation of the DC Comics title "Suicide Squad". There's no word yet if Johansson has plans to accept.

The Wolf Of Wall Street‘s female lead, Margot Robbie, is in talks to star in in the live-action big screen adaptation of the Japanese anime Ghost In The Shell. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) is currently attached to direct the film for DreamWorks from a script written by Bill Wheeler. Snow White and the Huntsman looked great visually, and I'm sure he'll bring some visual awesomeness to Ghost in the Shell. But let's wait and see how he tells the story, because he failed in that aspect with Snow White.
The story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime. If you haven't seen the anime yet, you really need to watch it to really appreciate the greatness of the story.

Margot Robbie is looking to capture the fanboy demo. The "Wolf of Wall Street" star is in "early talks" for Dreamworks' brewing live-action "Ghost in the Shell" adaptation, according to Deadline. Director Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman") is already on board for the film, which was written by Bill Wheeler. Set in the mid-21st century, "Ghost in the Shell" centers on a counter-cyberterrorist organization known as Public Security Section 9 and its cyborg leader Major Motoko Kusanagi (a role that would presumably be played by Robbie, though that detail has not been confirmed). The Masamune Shirow-created comic book series began in 1989 and has since become a multi-media franchise, branching out into animated films and video games. Robbie's upcoming films include "Focus" opposite Will Smith, "Suite Francaise" co-starring Michelle Williams and Sam Riley, "Z for Zachariah" with Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor and the "Tarzan" reboot opposite Alexander Skarsgard.

Deadline is reporting that The Wolf Of Wall Street breakout star Margot Robbie is in early talks for a starring role in Rupert Sanders’ Ghost In The Shell, an adaptation of the Japanese comic book of the same name. The Bill Wheeler-scripted film follows a covert ops unit that’s part of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission and specializes in tech-related crime.
Presumably, Robbie will be playing the role of Motoko Kusanagi (who will no doubt be Americanized for the film), “an augmented-cybernetic human” who leads the unit. She’s described as “strong-willed, physically powerful, and highly intelligent. She also is well known for her skills in deduction and hacking.”
This project has been kicking around for a while now, ever since Steven Spielberg acquired the rights back in 2008. Since then, the script has gone through several iterations and various directors have flirted with it. Now, with Sanders and Robbie all set,...

The latest project on Tom Hiddleston's slate? A new sports drama by the name of Kyriakides
News
Tom Hiddleston may not have a major Marvel commitment right now - unless they're sneaking Loki into Avengers: Age Of Ultron - but he's no shortage of other projects he's working on. Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak is currently in post-production, whilst he's soon to shoot Ben Wheatley's next, High Rise, an adaptation of J G Ballard's book.
After that? He might just be committing to a new sports drama for Disney by the name of Kyriakides. This is the story of Greek marathon runner Stelios Kyriakides, who lived through and survived the Nazi occupation of Greece, and went on to win the Boston Marathon, raising lots of money as he did so.

Three women were arrested Wednesday on charges of violating the "adult cabaret law" of Everett, Was., according to local TV affiliate Komo. The women, employees of a Grab-n-Go coffee stand, serve as "bikini baristas." The job is exactly what it sounds like, they make and serve coffee to customers, while wearing revealing bikinis.
The baristas, one of which is only 16 years old, were arrested after a two-month investigation that found them exposing themselves to customers, in exchange for money, without actually serving coffee. Kassi Carlson, a barista at the stand who wasn't arrested, thinks police are specifically targeting their business, saying, "The cops are looking to try and shut down a lot of bikini stands because [of the] stigma behind them."
Everett police officer Aaron Snell says that is not the case, insisting, "They were uncovering themselves and exposing themselves, which is completely different than the outfits they were wearing."
