Law & Order Svu‘s Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler have been shipped together for years, now. Mariska Hargitay has been fielding questions about the two characters coming together almost since the show’s inception. But lately, she’s grown more fascinated with another kind of shipping.
Mariska Hargitay reveals the kind of ‘shipping’ she wants ‘Law & Order Svu’ fans to really focus on Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay | Eric Liebowitz/Getty Images
Hargitay and Meloni’s characters have been involved in a sort of ‘will they, won’t they’ sub-plot for decades. At one point, this pairing seemed unlikely. Meloni’s Stabler was married with kids, then Meloni would leave the show entirely. This allowed Hargitay’s Benson to explore other romantic interests in the show, which had been rarely touched on before.
Benson’s love interests seldom worked out, however, and the character is still single and married to her work in Svu.

NBC is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary.
Ahead of its upfront presentation next week to Madison Avenue ad buyers, the network on Friday announced that it has scheduled a three-hour primetime special to honor the anniversary. The special, which will also be live, is set to air Sunday, Feb. 16, from 8-11 p.m. Et.
That will cap what NBC says will be a “celebratory weekend” honoring the Lorne Michaels-created sketch show.
Additional details have not yet been announced as Michaels and company are in the home stretch of closing out SNL’s 49th season with alum Maya Rudolph set to host this weekend and Jake Gyllenhaal on deck for the May 18 season finale.
News that NBC would formally celebrate SNL’s 50th anniversary comes as no surprise as Michaels said last January that he was already planning for the February event.

Indigo Girls paid a visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday (May 8th) to play their new song, “What We Wanna Be,” from the soundtrack to the musical film Glitter & Doom.
The duo delivered a moving performance of their first new song in four years while standing against a simple backdrop of purple lighting. Watch a replay below.

“What We Wanna Be” was written for the Glitter & Doom end credits and was inspired by Indigo Girls member Amy Ray’s “own experience of peeling off the layers of things I have built over the years to shield me from pain or even my own truth,” as she explained in a previous statement. “It is a conversation between Glitter and Doom and their endeavor to find healing through the love they have kindled together. The official trailer for Apple TV+’s Fancy Dance sees Lily Gladstone’s Jax on a mission to find her missing sister, as the risk of losing custody of her niece, Roki (Isabel Deroy-Olson), looms.
Following her sister’s disappearance, Jax and Roki have been scraping by on the Seneca-Cayuga reservation in Oklahoma, according to the film’s description. As Roki prepares for the upcoming powwow, the women hit the road to try to find Roki’s mother in time for the event.
“What begins as a search gradually turns into a far deeper investigation into the complexities and contradictions of Indigenous women moving through a colonized world while at the mercy of a failed justice system,” the logline reads.
Gladstone and Deroy-Olson star alongside Ryan Begay, Crystle Lightning, Audrey Wasilewski and Shea Whigham.
Fancy Dance premiered to critical acclaim at 2023’s Sundance Film Festival but didn’t receive distribution until over a year later.

Jimmy Kimmel had Seth Meyers on his show last month, and now Meyers is repaying the favor.
For the first time ever, Jimmy Kimmel will appear as a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers next Monday, May 13th.
Kimmel has plenty of projects to promote. In addition to Jimmy Kimmel Live, he’s an executive producer on the Hulu reality series High Times, and he’ll host the newly revived celebrity primetime edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire this summer.
Plus, with Kimmel’s recent mention in former President Donald Trump’s ongoing criminal trial, one imagines the two will have a lot to talk about.
The pair appearing on each other’s shows comes after last year’s Strike Force Five podcast solidified bonds between each of the five major late-night hosts: Kimmel, Meyers, John Oliver, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert.

Saturday Night Live‘s Mikey Day understands why Heidi Gardner couldn’t get through last month’s now infamous Beavis and Butt-Head sketch: His Butt-Head face was just too much to take in all at once.
On Late Night With Seth Meyers this week, Day recalled the sketch, which co-starred Ryan Gosling as the Beavis look-alike, and how the dress rehearsal, though the two were in full costume, didn’t have quite the oomph as the on-air version. Gardner, as millions of viewers have seen, was playing a NewsNation host moderating a town hall who doesn’t realize that two men with uncanny resemblances to the cartoon duo are in the audience.
When Gardner turned around to look at Day, she lost her composure and couldn’t stop laughing.
Day told Meyers, “At dress, the wig was a little far forward so on air there was just more head, and...

In the world of late night, there are sore losers and then there are whatever you’d call Seth Meyers’ response to losing the 2024 WGA Award for Best Comedy/Variety Talk Series to good friend/fellow host/frequent stand-up partner John Oliver.
Oliver played guest to Meyers on Late Night Monday, where the two talked about their ongoing residency at New York City’s Beacon Theatre—and the awkward things that can happen when the show has ended and they turn the stage into a space for a no-holds-barred Q&a with the audience.
While Oliver noted that “we do tell people that they can, and possibly should, leave” before the interactive portion begins, Meyers said that he really enjoys this part of the show. He then explained how “a very funny thing happened [during] the last Q&a. Both of our shows had been nominated for the Writers Guild Award,...

Steve Martin’s 2006 Saturday Night Live hosting assignment still stands out for Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. But not for the right reasons.
On Monday’s April 29 episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, the team talked about the surfer sketch they worked on for Martin.
Meyers said he thinks about it “all the time, mostly because every time I see Steve Martin, he brings it up.”
He asked his co-hosts to explain the sketch, “Surf meeting,” noting, “You guys wrote it.”
“‘Surf meeting’ was a classic format for us, which was one person sucking and not being able to take a hit over and over and over again, like way too many times,” said Samberg. In the sketch, Samberg asks Martin’s character, who’s “in an old-timey bathing suit looking super dorkish,” to leave.

With Billy Joel set to play the last show of his ten-year monthly residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden in July, two Late Nighters are poised to fill the void.
After selling out six shows so far this year, Seth Meyers and John Oliver are extending their monthly residency at The Beacon Theatre through the end of 2024.
The new dates are August 18, September 22, October 20, November 24 and December 15. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 3rd.
One imagines their extended dual residency will come up next Monday when Oliver is set to be a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
While their Beacon residency began this past January, Oliver and Meyers first performed together at the storied venue over three nights last August during the writers’ strike.
The shows see each comic perform a 45-50 minute standup set, and then return to the stage...

Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be back with new episodes as well. Kimmel has pumped out new episodes all April long, but was off Thursday night for the NFL draft.
Saturday Night Live is also back later this week with host and musical guest Dua Lipa, after taking two weeks off.

Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins’ The Shawshank Redemption is undoubtedly one of the best films released in 1994, the same year when Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump were released. While the latter two managed to nab some Oscars, The Shawshank Redemption shockingly went empty-handed, but, it hasn’t undermined its reputation of being one of the best films of that decade.
Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman in The Shawshank Redemption
The inspiring and heartwarming prison drama told the story of one man’s resilience and eventual freedom from being put into prison despite claims of innocence. The ending of the film saw the emotional reunion of Freeman and Robbins’ characters. It seems the original treatment of the film was slightly different, one which Freeman was vehemently against.

Next week is shaping up to be particularly quiet one in late night, with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and Saturday Night Live still on an extended Spring break, and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert set to join them.
That will leave just three shows producing new episodes: Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Daily Show, and After Midnight.
That’s not to say that the others will be out on the beach drinking Mai Tais. Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers were both in Los Angeles this past week participating in promotional events for their shows, and Colbert will be following in their footsteps Sunday, as he and The Late Show team are scheduled to talk up their show at LA’s Dolby Theater as part of this year’s PaleyFest.
Meanwhile, at least a half dozen SNL cast members are out on the road.

When A Drunk Jennifer lawrence Puked At Madonna’s Party & Got A reaction From Miley Cyrus. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Jennifer Lawrence has quite a few fun stories in her collection, and in one of them, she did something gross at the Oscars after the party of the legendary music artist Madonna. But the cherry on the cake was that it allegedly happened in front of Miley Cyrus. Needless to say, there is a controversy between Miley and Jennifer surrounding the former’s ex Liam Hemsworth.
Lawrence once implied that she and Hemsworth had locked lips with behind the scenes. People soon started speculating that their kiss coincided with Liam’s on-again-off-again relationship with Miley, making them believe he might have cheated on the Flowers songstress. But the Hunger Games actress clarified it and said it was years after the couple broke up. People’s assumption became stronger when Miley donned...

For almost as long as there has been a Late Night With Seth Meyers there has been “A Closer Look,” which is essentially Meyers’ version of a monologue.
Except instead of a traditional monologue, where the topic changes almost as quickly as the jokes fly, “A Closer Look” allows Meyers to sometimes spend 10-plus minutes engaging in a deeper conversation about the biggest news story of the day, which could be about anything from Donald Trump’s legal woes to Rudy Giuliani’s repulsive bathroom habits (note: there’s usually at least one Giuliani joke—even if the former NYC Mayor is not in the news).
With hundreds of “A Closer Look” segments in the can, you might think that asking Meyers to choose a favorite might be a lot like asking a parent to choose their favorite child.

With hundreds of “A Closer Look” segments in the can, you might think that asking Meyers to choose a favorite might be a lot like asking a parent to choose their favorite child.

The 41st annual PaleyFest LA celebrated the 10-year anniversary of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Monday, April 15 at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. A panel discussion moderated by Andy Samberg honored the accomplishments of his longtime friend Seth Meyers. Watch Gold Derby associate editor Latasha Ford interview both of them above or read the full transcript below.
See John Larroquette (‘Night Court’) on being an Emmy legend with 4 consecutive wins before dropping out of the race
Latasha Ford:
So first and foremost, congratulations on making it to the 10 year mark.
Seth Meyers:
Thank you.
Latasha Ford:
What does this moment feel like for you? I’ll definitely start with you, Seth.
Seth Meyers:
I will only say that it feels like any other show week. You just do the show and then the great thing about doing a show for 10 years is you get to start on your 11th year.

Hitting 10 years as host of NBC’s Late Night, Seth Meyers has learned many lessons along the way. The biggest among them? The ability to be “as nimble as possible,” according to the late night host.
He has learned not to “marry yourself to an idea before the show actually tapes,” Meyers told The Hollywood Reporter during a special PaleyFest event Monday night. The host joined pal and the evening’s moderator Andy Samberg at the Dolby Theatre for a conversation looking back at the beginning of his Late Night journey and the highlights along the way.
After a video introduction of the popular Late Night segment “Day Drinking With Seth,” Meyers and Samberg took the stage, jumping right into conversation. Samberg asked Meyers to look back at the beginning of the show in 2014 and the process he went through to land the gig.

Late night’s current era of good feelings was on full display last night as Seth Meyers (taking advantage of a two-week break from his own show) sat down with Jimmy Kimmel for his first-ever appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Meyers—who Kimmel introduced as a “hardworking American treasure” whose own show “airs the minute ours ends over on NBC”—surprised the crowd as well as Kimmel by wearing a suit for the occasion, which is something you’d never see on Late Night.
“I feel like you’re at my funeral or something,” Kimmel joked of Meyers’ formalwear. “It’s very kind.”
In an attempt to clarify his decision to rock a more casual look on his own show, Meyers explained that “the reason I don’t dress up for my show is it is on later. It’s on at 12:30 at night and I realize no one...

She was scheduled to sit down with Jimmy Kimmel Tuesday night, but with official business cutting her trip to Los Angeles short, Kamala Harris is giving the ABC late-night host a rain check instead
It wasn’t immediately clear why is Harris headed back to Washington ahead of schedule, but insiders say her interview with Kimmel will be rescheduled for a later date.
Announced just last Thursday, Tuesday’s visit with Kimmel would have been Harris’ first as vice president. She previously appeared on the show twice during her 2020 presidential run.
With the situation in the Middle East escalating over the weekend after Iran carried out its first-ever strikes against Israel, it’s possible The White House and/or the Biden campaign simply decided now isn’t the right time for the VP to appear on a late-night show.

(Updated with more details) The Vice President is no longer heading to late-night.
VP Kamala Harris was set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tomorrow night (Tuesday April 16).
However, her appearance has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. Though the VP did end up flying back into LA from her quick trip to Las Vegas today, and not going to DC, no reason for Harris’ absence from the ABC late nighter was given.
However, the White House has announced that the Vice President “will participate in a campaign event” later in the day on Tuesday. Kimmel usually films that night’s show in the late afternoon — which is around the same time the Veep’s campaign event appears to be occurring.
If Harris had appeared on Kimmel on Tuesday, it would have been her second appearance on the ABC show. The past California Senator previously sat...

In case we needed yet one more reminder that the late-night wars of old have long since passed the Armistice stage, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel is set to welcome NBC’s Seth Meyers to his late-night program tonight.
While it’ll be Meyers’ first visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, by now the two late-night hosts are well-acquainted. Together they were two-fifths of last year’s Strike Force Five podcast, where they helped raise funds for their staff during the WGA strike.
Separately, the two hosts have also both released children’s books in recent years, memorably joining forces to help promote each others books.
Meyers, who’s on a two week break from Late Night, has plenty of projects to promote beyond his own show.
He recently produced the Peacock documentary Good One: A Show About Jokes, which follows follows comedian Mike Birbiglia on the road as he builds a new comedy set.

Hollywood star Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell starred in the Monsterverse TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The father-son duo portrayed different phases of the character Lee Shaw, a former U.S. Army colonel entangled in monster investigations. While the 73-year-old actor portrayed the elder Lee Shaw, the Overlord actor embodied the character in his younger years.

ABC announced Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this coming Tuesday, April 16.
VP Harris and Kimmel are not strangers, this will be her third appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The previous two occurred during her 2020 Presidential run, in March and July 2019, respectively.
Harris’ sit-down with Kimmel will represent her first appearance on a late-night show since March 16, 2023, when she appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
It’s become clear that late night is now a preferred destination for top government officials in 2024. The VP’s upcoming appearance on Kimmel comes several weeks after Seth Meyers hosted President Biden for Late Night’s’ 10th anniversary show. Stephen Colbert sat down with Presidents Biden, Obama and Clinton last month at a New York fundraiser which ended up hauling in a reported $26 million for the Biden reelection campaign.

Exclusive: Vice President Kamala Harris is heading back to late-night.
Deadline understands that Harris will appear as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday April 16.
It is her latest appearance on the ABC show; Harris previously appeared on Kimmel’s show in March 2019, when she was running for top office.
During that appearance, she talked about the campaign trail, said “age is more than a chronological fact” when asked whether Biden or Senator Bernie Sanders were too old to run for President, and noted that she was “open to the discussion” of getting rid of the Electoral college.
Kimmel has previously defended Vice President Harris’ low approval ratings, blaming “sexism and racism”.
Last year, Harris appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and in 2022 made her first late-night appearance since becoming VP on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she talked up her administration’s plans to fight climate change,...

In a statement shared by the Simpson family on Thursday morning, it was announced that on Wednesday, the former football player, who became better known for being accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman amid an infamous televised car chase and trial, “succumbed to his battle with cancer” while surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

As Alex Horne tells it, Taskmaster was born out of professional jealousy. In 2009, he became a parent and so broke with almost a decade of tradition by not taking a show to the Edinburgh Fringe. That same year, his friend and former flatmate Tim Key won the festival’s top comedy award, for which Horne had been nominated in 2003.
At home and envious, Horne sent out emails inviting 20 comedians – including Key – to take part in a new competition in which he would set them a different task each month for a year. The results would be shared in a live performance at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe called The Taskmaster.
The result was organised chaos. An overdraft of comedians (a Fringe-specific collective noun) plus a pianist joined Horne on stage to reveal the results, set tie-break tasks, and eventually crown a winner.

Tuesday night saw something that, fourteen years ago, might have seemed impossible: Conan O’Brien returned to “The Tonight Show.” And he was greeted with a standing ovation.
He was there, ostensibly, to promote a forthcoming Max series in which he travels the world meeting fans. But he’d come a long way just to get to 30 Rockefeller Center in 2024, and the interview with current “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon functioned as a peace offering, or a marker of how much time has passed.
O’Brien, after all, exited the program under a cloud in 2010, after a much-followed period of corporate intrigue. Inheriting the show from Jay Leno, O’Brien was set up to fail when NBC programmed a prime-time Leno series, which bombed, as his lead-in five nights a week; O’Brien departed the show after only seven months, at which point Leno replaced him. “Unshackled from the confines of network censors and what Seth thinks is ‘appropriate’ for his show,” the event description teases, “they are finally free to let loose!”

Although their digital shorts are now the stuff of Saturday Night Live legend, The Lonely Island’s early days at the show were not without struggle.
The comedy trio is sitting down with Seth Meyers in a new podcast series where they’re diving deep into the backstories of each of their SNL Digital Shorts. But in the show’s just-released premiere episode, The Lonely Island—Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who formed the comedy group before getting hired on SNL—recall the early months of the group’s time on the show, before Digital Shorts came to fruition.
Meyers brings up a commercial parody, “J.J. Casuals,” which served as something of a precursor to what would become The Lonely Island’s signature musical bits on the show. In it, Samberg plays musician Jack Johnson advertising a line of shoes that look like bare feet, complete with a Jack Johnson-esque acoustic jingle.

The list of people that bug Larry David could fill a phone book, but one target of his general disdain for humanity isn’t one we would have expected: Elmo – and he’s not even human! The same week that Elmo began trending for doing a wellness check on his followers, Larry David did what so many wanted to do when Tickle Me Elmo came out. Yes, Larry David assaulted Elmo…and he’d do it again if he had the chance.
When asked about the incident not too long ago on Today – in which Larry David grabbed Elmo’s face and swatted at his father, Louie – David told Seth Meyers, “Elmo was talking. I was waiting to be interviewed, and Elmo was going on about mental health and I had to listen to every word. And I was going, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, I don’t think...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains minor spoilers of Tim Robinson’s “I Think You Should Leave” live show, including general descriptions of unaired sketches.
“I Think You Should Leave” went live Tuesday, April 2, when creators Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin brought their beloved Netflix sketch comedy series to the stage at New York’s Beacon Theatre.
Nearly 3,000 fans showed up for the mysterious, sold-out show, many of them revealing their allegiance to the comedy cult with Dan Flashes button-downs and Corncob TV tees — if you know, you know — and yelling out lines from “I Think You Should Leave” that have been immortalized in gifs and memes.
It was a scene inside the Upper West Side venue, as the line to buy new merchandise snaked through the foyer of the Beacon and created a traffic jam that delayed the start of the program. Among the merchandise on sale were a white...

Lorne Michaels is an expert at celebrating the legacy of “Saturday Night Live.” The show’s creator has produced variety specials for the NBC program’s 15th anniversary, 25th anniversary and 40th anniversary, so the upcoming 50th season should have a highly entertaining spectacle. Nothing less than a three-hour event would be expected, but how else should “SNL” celebrate the golden anniversary season, which would begin in the autumn of 2024 and continue through May, 2025?
Here is our exciting, fun suggestion for a way to go above and beyond for the live special. Over the course of a 20-22 episode season, NBC would certainly have almost every episode featuring the current cast along with hot guest hosts and musical guests. However, for the other five episodes spread out over several months, devote an entire 90 minutes to each previous decade. Invite back the biggest cast members from a decade along with well-known guest hosts and music stars.

Drew Barrymore had Maya Rudolph as a guest on The Drew Barrymore Show and recalled she had to beg to do the Saturday Night Live digital short “Body Fuzion.”
The daytime show host recalled that back in 2007, she had to plead to do the skit that parodied ’80s workout videos. Lonely Island, consisting of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer, produced the skit that almost didn’t happen.
“I remember that week that Akiva, Jorma, and Andy were like, ‘You know what? We aren’t going to do a short this week,'” Barrymore recalled. “And I was like, no, no, no, no.”
Rudolph noted that “those were early days before they had to do one every single week because they were so good.”
“I kept begging,” Barrymore added. “I would go into their office every single day and I was like, I know it’s me again.”

Hillary Clinton will appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this coming Monday, April 1.
The former Secretary of State, First Lady, and 2016 Presidential nominee is no stranger to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show: She has appeared on the program six times since 2015.
This will be former Sec. Clinton’s first appearance on a late night talk show since September 2022, when she appeared alongside daughter Chelsea Clinton on Late Night with Seth Meyers, a week after her most recent visit to Fallon.
Clinton and Fallon have a lot to talk about as the 2024 presidential race continues to heat up, with Democratic incumbent Joe Biden facing off against Donald Trump, who defeated Clinton in 2016.
Last night, her husband, former President Bill Clinton was interviewed alongside President Biden and former President Barack Obama by Late Show host Stephen Colbert in a live event at Radio City Music Hall — part of a...
