Although she was one of the most famous women in the world in the mid-’60s, today Sharon Tate is best remembered for her murder—and that of her unborn child—at the hands of the Manson Family on August 9, 1969. But there’s more to Tate’s life than her death, a point that Kate Bosworth is hoping to make in an upcoming biopic about the fallen star.
The as-yet0untitled film, described as a “look at Tate’s career, marriage and other relationships she had in Hollywood,” was announced earlier this afternoon. It’s based on a book called Sharon Tate And The Manson Murders, although producer Nick Phillips, who worked with Bosworth on the 2011 remake of Straw Dogs, says that the murders won’t be the main focus of the film. “There has been so much said and written about all of the other players in ...

In a land overrun by ruthless creatures that hunt by sound, even the faintest whimper can lead to your death in Tim Lebbon's The Silence, a new horror novel hitting shelves later this month. Titan Books has provided us with an exclusive excerpt from Lebbon's latest to share with Daily Dead readers, and we also have a look at two recent 31 images revealed by Rob Zombie, as well as details on the zombie series, Fight of the Living Dead, which is now available to watch in its entirety on BlackBoxTV.
Tim Lebbon's The Silence: "In the darkness of a underground cave system, blind creatures hunt by sound. Then there is light, there are voices, and they feed... Swarming from their prison, the creatures thrive and destroy. To scream, even to whisper, is to summon death. As the hordes lay waste to Europe, a girl watches to see if they will cross the sea.

The supernatural horror film Haunt, starring Jacki Weaver, has been picked up by IFC Midnight. Details on Haunt have been few and far between, but that will all change soon. The movie will be given a theatrical run and, looking at other recent IFC releases, we believe it will be a limited theatrical engagement, followed by a VOD and Blu-ray/DVD release.

The son is played by Harrison Gilbertson and Liana Liberato’s character is the love interest next door. Jacki Weaver is starring as the former resident of the haunted house. The film is written by Andrew Barrer and directed by Mac Carter...

Andrew Barrer wrote the screenplay to the Qed International, Rivergate Entertainment and Revolver Picture Company production.
At time of writing IFC Midnight had not set a theatrical release date for Haunt, which centres on a boy who gets involved with a mysterious neighbour when his family moves into a new home and unwittingly summons a demon. Harrison Gilbertson and Liana Liberato also star.
“We are all thrilled that IFC Midnight has acquired Us rights — they’re experts in the genre and really know how to build excitement for a terrifying supernatural thriller like Haunt,” said John Hegeman of Qed and Nick Phillips of Revolver.

Just in time for Cannes we've dug our claws into the first casting news and one-sheet for Ben Katai's (30 Days of Night: Dark Days) new flick, Beneath, and we've gotta say... Harry Warden would be proud. Check it out!
The film, which is currently shooting, stars Jeff Fahey, Kelly Noonan and Joey Kern, as well as Brent Briscoe, Rene Rivera, Mark L. Young, Kurt Caseres, David Shackelford, Ashway Lawver and Jason Masek.
Patrick J. Doody and Chris Valenziano wrote the screenplay on spec, and former Dimension Films and Screen Gems executive Nick Phillips and veteran casting director Kelly Wagner’s recently formed Revolver Picture Company picked it up late last year.
Synopsis
A team of coal miners and a headstrong female lawyer are trapped underground when the mine collapses. Turns out they are not the only ones who want to get to the surface.
More on this one as it comes.

Screen Gems has acquired the drug-trafficking thriller The Crossing, penned by writing team Byron Willinger and Phillip De Blasi.
The film revolves around a couple on a weekend vacation in Mexico. When the husband is kidnapped by drug traffickers, his wife agrees to drive their SUV filled with heroin across the border into Texas. Once there, however, she turns the tables on the kidnappers to get her husband back.
The long-gestating project originally was set up at New Line Cinema.
Nick Phillips brought the screenplay into Screen Gems and will oversee the film for studio topper Clint Culpepper. Screen Gems is fast-tracking the project, which is out to directors.
Jeff Okin, Max Wong and Karen Firestone are producing the thriller.
Willinger and De Blasi, who penned Legendary Pictures' biblical drama Paradise Lost, are repped by Paradigm and manager Okin at Anonymous Content.
