When Brandon Boyd thinks back on the spring of 2001, he’s amazed he wasn’t more stressed out. His band, Incubus, had just broken through with 1999’s Make Yourself, and their hit “Drive” was climbing the charts. “In retrospect, we probably should have felt more pressure to make a great follow-up record because we have this hit single right now,” Boyd, 47, tells Rolling Stone. “That didn’t even enter our minds. We were just like, ‘This is crazy! A lot of people are listening to our songs right now. Let’s make another one!

Sterlin Harjo is surprised that you’re surprised “Reservation Dogs” is ending. The critically acclaimed FX series, which returns to Hulu on Wednesday with its third and final season, is a dramatic comedy about a group of Indigenous teens finding their place among family and friends as they grow up in Oklahoma. But the thing about coming-of-age tales, Harjo notes, is that eventually the characters come of age.
“It’s a story that had an ending,” Harjo tells Variety. “It’s a story about people going through transition, and specifically kids going through a very transitional moment and grief. I just don’t think that lasts forever. I think that we’re meant to be with them during this transitional time. To me, the show’s too important to drag out.”
From the beginning, “Reservation Dogs” was about Elora (Devery Jacobs), Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai), Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) and Cheese...

After traveling to Los Angeles to live out their late friend Daniel’s dream, Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai), Elora (Devery Jacobs), Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis), and Cheese (Lane Factor) begin the season stranded until Aunt Teenie (Tamara Podemski) comes to escort them back home to Oklahoma. Before she arrives though, Bear takes an important step in leaving the negative relationship he has with his father behind, and White Jesus (Brandon Boyd from Incubus) bids them adieu after watching over the group following their harrowing L.A. adventure which included being carjacked and robbed. “Bussin'” saw the friends hit the road and Spirit, William Knifeman (Dallas Goldtooth...

“Reservation Dogs” started with a farewell.
The revelatory FX comedy from Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi picked up in Season 1 with Elora Danan (Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs), Bear (D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai), Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) and Cheese (Lane Factor) mourning their friend Daniel (Dalton Cramer), processing his suicide with petty theft and rebellion and a plan to run away from home. The show’s third and final season, premiering today, finds the res dogs cautiously forging their own paths — no longer afraid of losing each other and Daniel’s memory the way they were before visiting California. The four episodes screened for critics honor the show’s off-kilter humor and striking poignance, setting up a final farewell that will be equally bittersweet and triumphant.

Writer and creator Sterlin Harjo promised that the Season 3 finale of “Reservation Dogs” would serve as the perfect ending to the FX series on Hulu. It’s a bold claim in a culture that often sees fans ripping finales and their writers apart. But if the first few episodes of Season 3 are any indication, it’s more than likely our beloved Rez Dogs will get as close to perfect as possible.
From the first four episodes of the final season available for review, it’s clear the writers know exactly what the viewers want: Surreal spirits and quirky side characters guiding and challenging the young crew. Storytelling that manages to weave together the silly and absurd with some of the harsh realities Native populations have had to face over generations (the atrocities and aftermath of Indian boarding schools get called out on more than one occasion this season). And of course,...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 8 continued on June 23 with the eighth episode streaming on Paramount+. Airing concurrently with the main show is its Werk Room-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 5th season for the “All Stars” franchise. This season, the eliminated queens have the opportunity to compete in the “Fame Games,” an online and social media component to the competition where fans will vote for a queen to win the $50,000 cash prize up for grabs.
In episode 8 of “Untucked,” the six remaining queens reflected on the latest challenge and discussed the upcoming elimination. That decision could be in the hands of the group vote among the safe queens or solely in the hands of the week’s top performer, Alexis Michelle, if she won the lip sync against the secret assassin Nicky Doll. “American Idol” top four finalist Casey Bishop made a bold move Sunday night, sitting down with mentor Finneas to take on Billie Eilish’s “Wish You Were Gay.” She rocked the song’s co-writer/producer, and the judges, too — yet, despite all that love, apparently not everyone wished she would stay.
“So, you’re singing my sister’s song,” Finneas said to the 16-year-old Estero, Florida native about the track. “The greatest honor as a songwriter is hearing the song covered, and Casey has got an incredible instrument,” he continued, advising the teen to sing the song as if “these are lyrics you just thought up before you started singing.”

Did you know Solange had a mega crush on the lead singer of Incubus? In the late '90s, while big sister Beyoncé and her group Destiny's Child were sweeping the charts with hits such as "Bug a Boo" and "Bills, Bills, Bills," Solange, now 30, was a teenager with her own fledgling music career whose musical tastes included rapper Nas and the alternative rock band, led by her crush, Brandon Boyd. The singer reflects on her past phases in a letter she wrote to her teenage self, published in Teen Vogue Wednesday. "You will dive head first without looking into phases that you are certain of who you are," she wrote. "Some of these stages include: the...

“From Everything I’ve seen and learned, prison is not about helping people reform or rehabilitate, or learn to read, or get a job. It’s not about reconciliation or healing the victims of crime. It’s not about public safety, and it’s not about the wellbeing of our communities. It’s about two things: our worst instinct to revenge and the worship of money.”
Award winning Producer, Director & Human Rights Activist Matthew Cooke is using the power of crowd funding via Indiegogo to finish his film Survivor’S Guide To Prison, an exposé on the barbaric acts of the Us Prison system that holds 25% of the world’s prison population.

His chilling exploration dives deep into the criminally abusive & socially unjust realities of incarceration through the perspectives of two prisoners who were convicted of crimes they did not commit. This is an all too common story in the Us where the Innocence Project estimates there could easily be anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 people in Us prisons that haven’t committed a crime.
Your support of the film’s Indiegogo campaign will help to do more than just finish a film. It will help to give a loud roar to a nearly silent movement to end human rights abuses of an unfathomable scale.
Watch Cooke’s gripping and poignant call to action, and learn more about the chilling facts below:
The Us has the largest prison population on the planet, larger than China.
1/3 of all women prisoners in the world are in Us prisons.
If you’re an American, you’re more likely to go to prison here than anyone else in the entire world.
More Black men are in prison now, than the total enslaved in 1850.
The USA Has More Prisons Than Colleges And Universities.
More About Matthew Cooke:
In 2013 Cooke released his directorial debut How To Make Money Selling Drugs which he also wrote, narrated, shot, edited and art directed. Drugs was produced by Bert Marcus Productions and Adrian Grenier featuring Eminem, 50 Cent, Susan Sarandon, Woody Harrelson and others. Drugs was bought and distributed by Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film where it debuted at #1 on iTunes and Amazon. Drugs won the audience award at the Champs-Elysees and Newport Film Festivals and the Best Writing Award from the International Documentary Association.
In 2007 Cooke produced and edited his first feature film. Deliver Us From Evil, written + directed by Amy Berg, was honored with the Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary film, made over 100 critics "best of" lists and Rotten Tomatoes top 100 best reviewed films of all time.

Being a frontman is no easy task. Sure, it’s easy to scoff at the fool prancing around the stage and condemn them as egocentric or uninteresting, but to be able to stand in front of an audience and project the sound, image and concept of yourself and your bandmates whilst simultaneously connecting with the world at large takes guts.
The job of the frontman is to get the crowd into the right mood – to make them think, essentially to convey the message of the music without getting in its way. The position does not necessarily fall to a vocalist, lead guitarist, songwriter or sometimes even a musician, but it does require personality, self-belief and to do it really well; charisma. They are the mouthpieces of generations, the idols of millions and the cornerstone of rock and roll.
On the following pages we’ll take a look at some illuminating frontmen,...

The third album has long been seen as a difficult hurdle for a band/artist to successfully clear. Usually having been together for years before recording a debut and therefore have enough material to fill the first couple with tried and tested, great songs. When it comes to record number three, the well is often dry. The following is ten examples of a big middle finger to the dreaded, “third album curse”.
There already exists a million articles in cyberspace on such wonderful third albums like ‘III’ by Led Zeppelin, ‘Master Of Puppets’ by Metallica, ‘Reign In Blood’ by Slayer, ‘Ok Computer’ by Radiohead etc, so please appreciate my slight deviation from the usual suspects. Maybe you will discover something new with the selections I have made. Also, please feel free to comment and leave suggestions of your own, I welcome your opinions and, I will maybe gain some musical education too.
