Billy Joel has shared the video for his comeback single, “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first music video in 17 years.
The video arrives after Joel debuted “Turn the Lights Back On” at the 2024 Grammys. Directed by Warren Fu and the song’s co-writer and producer, Freddy Wexler, the video uses deepfake technology from Deep Voodoo to show Joel singing the song in three different eras: His early career in the 1970s, his mid-career, and now. At the end, a brief montage of Joel’s career, life, and family plays as he sings to a fully empty-but-fully-lit theater. Watch the video below.
In celebration of “Turn the Lights Back On,” Joel’s first solo single since 2007’s “All My Life,” he also stopped by The Late Show with Steven Colbert on Thursday to discuss how the song came together, the Grammys performance, and why his seminal track “Piano Man” is actually a limerick.

Daft Punk have released Random Access Memories (Drumless Edition) via Columbia Records. The re-release, which has removed all drums and percussive elements from their final studio album, arrives at the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 Grammy-winning Album of the Year. Stream the album below.
According to the album’s press release, the drumless edition of hit album Random Access Memories aims to give listeners “the ability to dive deeper into the layers of each track.”
The record arrives shortly after the release of Random Access Memories (10th Anniversary Edition), which included nine unreleased tracks for a total of 35 minutes of all-new music. The release saw Random Access Memories return to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
Daft Punk have also commemorated this anniversary with an ongoing content series called Memory Tapes, which pulls back the curtain on the French house duo’s creation of Random Access Memories.

Ever see a pregnant robot? The video for “Infinity Repeating (2013 Demo) shows mankind’s Darwinian evolution from an amoeba to a primate to a man to a robot to an enceinte automaton (that looks a lot like a female version of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s stage costumes). The track is an outtake from Daft Punk’s blockbuster Random Access Memories album that paired them with Julian Casablancas. Three animation houses — London’s Picnic Studios and Paris’ H5 Studio and Light Studios — collaborated on the clip, which filmmaker...

Phoenix continued to preview their upcoming new album Alpha Zulu Thursday with the video for the LP’s icy latest single, “Winter Solstice.”
Unlike every other track on the French band’s first album since 2017’s Te Amo, “Winter Solstice” is the only song on Alpha Zulu that wasn’t composed by Phoenix together in the studio.
Recorded over separate continents, Phoenix’s Lauren Brancowitz, Christian Mazzalai, and Deck D’Arcy built the loop for the track, which they sent over to singer Thomas Mars to build out. “Winter Solstice” marks...

Hayley Williams is out with “Cinnamon,” “Sudden Desire” and “Creepin'” off her surprise Petals for Armor 1 Ep. The Paramore frontwoman also released the third Warren Fu-directed video for “Cinnamon.”
Not to be confused with Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s “Cinnamon Girl” (or Lana Del Rey’s, for that matter), “Cinnamon” opens with Williams waking up in her house and walking down the stairs to find a record playing and a piece of her hair on the ground. She then encounters bizarre intruders in her home that follow her around.

Clearly, the The Weeknd didn't feel a petrifying kiss coming. At midnight Friday, the 27-year-old singer released his new music video for "I Feel It Coming," the second of two Starboy collaborations with Daft Punk. Co-starring Japanese model Kiko Mizuhara, director Warren Fu stylized the clip to have the blurry picture quality of a VHS tape. The Weeknd spends most of the video dancing around a desrted planet, waiting for the brief moment in the day where Mizuhara, entombed in stone, returns to her human form so they can finally be together. After an eclipse, she returns to her stone state. To their surprise and horror, she crumbles. A black snake emerges from the rubble, and when The Weeknd reaches for it,...

Though it started as a very insider thing, The Black List has recently become more popular and mainstream. For those who may not know, it's an annual list of the year's best unproduced screenplays as voted on by about 300 Hollywood development executives and high-level assistants. We recently posted the 2010 list [1] and looking back at some previous years (2007 [2], 2008 [3], 2009 [4]), films such as Recount, The Beaver and The Social Network all sat near the top of the list. Skim over any of them and you'll see names of films that are out, are coming out and more. It's a big deal. This year, a new Black List of sorts has come out. Dubbed Viewfinder, it's supposed to do for directors what The Black List did for screenwriters. Viewfinder is a compilation of "the top commercials, shorts and/or music videos of 2010." Several of the directors on the list already have deals or are in production on films.

As you know, I'm a sucker for some cool lookin' concept art. And some of the stuff that has come out of McG's upcoming film Terminator Salvation has been particularly breathtaking. In addition to the awesome concept art that we posted, then removed back in November that showed off some of the new man-killing machines, we now have some very cool art -- drawn by Ilm artist Christian Alzmann and visual effects art director Warren Fu -- which shows off some of post-apocalyptic San Francisco. There is also a shot of a cool flying thingy known as the Transporter, a shot of a human trying to break into some sort of SkyNet facility and oh yeah, one of those kick-ass Harvester things that looks like an evil Transformer. It is all very cool, as you will see below. Terminator Salvation is due out in theaters on May 21, 2009. Photos courtesy of The Sarah Connor Society.

There's a new batch of concept art for Terminator Salvation, which comes our way from the Russian site Kinopoisk. Ilm's Christian Alzmann and Warren Fu are the artists responsible for these new images, and they reflect a whole new scope for the series.
In the past, Terminator has been a grounded sci-fi series, but now they're putting the sky in SkyNet with some new machines covering the skies in post-apocalyptic America. Of course, we've only seen that war-ravaged landscape in bits and pieces in the previous films, but now that the action has moved into the future, McG and the effects team needed to work with a whole new arsenal of visuals.
The result is new weapons and bigger machines.

How about a bit of post-apocalyptic concept art to kick off your Easter Sunday? A fresh new batch of concept art from Terminator Salvation was discovered on the Sarah Connor Society blog (via SlashFilm) this weekend. The paintings were done by Ilm artist Christian Alzmann and visual effects art director Warren Fu and look absolutely stunning, especially when viewed full-size. Given we've already seen plenty of imagery from McG's Terminator Salvation in the trailers that differs from most of this art, it's still pretty damn cool to get an idea of how it was all imagined in the first place.
