Marvel's "What If...?" animated series on Disney+ has allowed fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to see into parallel dimensions featuring alternate versions of their favorite superheroes and villains, from Black Panther to Thanos. Some of those characters, like Captain Carter, even made it into "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness" before being hilariously torn apart by Scarlet Witch.
Now, Marvel Studios is teaming up with Industrial Light & Magic's Ilm Immersive group to deliver a virtual reality experience that will take MCU fans into the animated world of "What If...?" in order to stop variants of the multiverse from harnessing the power of the Infinity Stones. This is the first-ever interactive Disney+ original story, and it will be available exclusively on the Apple Vision Pro as a free app for a limited time. When Marvel announced the return of the X-Men ’97 animated series, almost every single fan was skeptical about its success. The MCU had recently seen a slew of flops, and the 90s fans who grew up with the series were worried that their fond memories would be tainted by “wokeness” as well, but Beau DeMayo’s series proved everyone wrong.

And it seems like Marvel is trying to ride the high tide generated by the fan-favorite mutant mayhem, as the studio is once again betting its money on animation. This time, their focus is on the third season of What If…?, which has been quite popular in its own right.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
The fifth episode of X-Men ’97 presents a major change in the status quo for mutankind, climaxing with an attack on the nation of Genosha and the deaths of several major characters. But the most consequential event may be what happens just before the attack begins.
The first half of “Remember It” plays like a reprieve for the X-Men, as they visit a radically different Genosha from the one they previously saw on X-Men: The Animated Series. Once an apartheid nation built on mutant oppression, Genosha has become a haven for mutants, allowing them to celebrate their culture. The climax of the celebration occurs in the Hellfire Gala, a ball designed to inaugurate Magneto and Rogue as the new leaders.
The party ends on a horrible note when the Master Mold arrives to wreak havoc. But just before his arrival, obscured by the fireworks in the sky,...

The gifts don’t stop in December at Disney+! In addition to holiday festivities all month long like the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade and the CMA Country Christmas Special, the House of Mouse streamer will soon become the home for Whovians and Demigods.
Disney+ will deck the halls with a glut of Gallifreyan adventures and the premiere of the long-awaited “Doctor Who” anniversary specials. The first of the three debuted on BBC One and on the Disney streamer on Nov. 25, but the other two David Tennant and Catherine Tate-led serials will arrive on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Later in the month, ring in Christmas with the franchise’s holiday special with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson getting their full-episode debuts.
And the wait is over for “Percy Jackson” fans, who will see the beloved Rick Riordan book series get a (hopefully) respectful adaptation with the premiere of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Marvel’s What If? Is back for a second series on Disney+ this December – and here’s the trailer to prove it…
What If? was a surprising, fun addition to the Marvel canon when it first landed on Disney+, perhaps because the sheer scale of storytelling possibilities is so huge.
Series one featured scenarios as wide ranging as Peggy Carter becoming the First Avenger and T’Challa becoming a Star Lord, to examining what might have happened if artificially-intelligent supervillain Ultron hadn’t been defeated by those pesky Avengers. It doesn’t look like the next run of the show will be pulling its punches either.
Promotion is underway for it now, and we now have a synopsis for the second series. It doesn’t tell us much, but nevertheless reads as follows:

"Things have gotten a little twisted in the Multiverse…" Marvel has revealed the official trailer for Season 2 of the fun spin-off series What If...?, where they present short stories based on crazy "what if" scenarios in the MCU. The first season launched in 2021 to mixed reviews, and this second season will be out to watch in December. One new episode will introduce an original MCU character named Kahhori, a young Mohawk woman who seeks to discover her powers after the Tesseract crash-lands in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy in pre-colonial America. In another episode, Peggy Carter / Captain Carter believes that the love of her life, Steve Rogers, is long-dead until he is discovered alive as the villainous Hydra Stomper. That sounds wild! The voice cast set for Season 2 includes Hayley Atwell, Lake Bell, Josh Keaton, and Jeffrey Wright back as The Watcher, the main character in this taking viewers into the various stories.

Blink 182 musician Tom DeLonge is channeling his passion for UFOs and extraterrestrial activity into a feature film, titled Monsters of California and releasing this October.
Gizmodo shares the official trailer for Monsters of California this morning – you’ll have to hit up Gizmodo to watch it – and they’ve announced an October 6 release date as well.
On that date, the film releases in theaters as well as On Demand platforms at home.
This might surprise you given Tom DeLonge has never directed a feature film before but Monsters of California looks Excellent, and it’s clear from the trailer alone that DeLonge has a serious talent for filmmaking. It looks like he poured absolutely all of himself into this one, even using the classic Blink 182 song “Aliens Exist” to bring nostalgic gravitas to the trailer.
Honestly, as a massive fan of Blink 182 growing up, the song usage sent chills up and down my spine.

Disney+ is bringing back everyone's favorite talking tree as "I Am Groot" season 2 is on the way. And we've got a trailer today that teases the rambunctious little alien's next round of adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Groot may have grown up quite a bit in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" but when this short-form series returns next month, we're going to be catching up with Baby Groot once again. It's like it's 2017 all over again.
The first season of the series debuted last summer on Disney+ and contained a series of shorts almost purely focused on Groot, who gets into trouble in various situations around the galaxy. This latest season of shorts looks very much in line with what came before. Stunning animation, silly situations, lots of Groot. Check it out.

Since the MCU kicked off with Phase 4, we’ve finally gotten an expansion from movies only to TV shows that are a part of the MCU as well. One such show that is quite unique compared to the others, though, was ‘I Am Groot.’ The endearing five-episode first season of short animated films about Baby Groot captured our hearts – but will there be another season?
It is confirmed that ‘I Am Groot’ Season 2 will happen, but an official date hasn’t been set just yet. However, some sources suggest that we could see ‘I Am Groot’ Season 2 arrive on Disney+ as early as September 2023. Meaning – it would be the next MCU entry in line right after ‘Secret Invasion’ and before ‘Loki’ Season 2 in October.
Now that the industry-wide strikes are in full effect as we speak, everything could eventually be pushed back a bit, so take this information with a grain of salt.

Disney's never-ending line of live-action remakes continues in May — there's actually another one later this week, in "Peter Pan & Wendy" — with "The Little Mermaid." Featuring new songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Hamilton"), who's also among the producers alongside director Rob Marshall ("Chicago"), the underwater tale of Ariel the Mermaid is unfurling on the big screen next month. Halle Bailey ("Grown-ish") plays Ariel, with Jonah Hauer-King ("A Dog's Way Home") as Eric, the human prince she falls in love with.
Awkwafina ("The Farewell"), Daveed Diggs ("Hamilton"), and Jacob Tremblay ("Room") lend their voices to King Triton's trusted crab servant Sebastian, Ariel's dimwitted seabird friend Scuttle, and Ariel's tropical fish best friend Flounder, respectively. Javier Bardem is playing Ariel's father, King Triton, with Noma Dumezweni ("The Watcher") as Eric's mother Queen Selina, an original character. Lastly, Melissa McCarthy plays the conniving sea witch Ursula, who has ambitions to take over Triton's kingdom.

Ryan Murphy has another anthology after Netflix ordered two additional installments of his Monster franchise following the success of Dahmer.
The streamer has also ordered a second season of his drama series The Watcher.
Neither move is a surprise given the ratings success of both shows, particularly the outsized ratings of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which is on course to reach 1B hours viewed in the coming weeks.
Both Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher come from American Horror Story co-creator Murphy and Glee co-creator Ian Brennan.
Netflix didn’t disclose what the two additional installments of the Monster anthology franchise will cover but said that they will “tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society”.
Murphy is behind an incredible number of franchises including American Horror Story, American Horror Stories, American Crime Story, American Love Story, Feud and 9-1-1.

Netflix viewers have condemned the ending of the new No 1 series The Watcher.
Based on a true story, the seven-episode series follows a married couple who move into a house in Westfield, New Jersey, and find themselves being harassed by a sinister figure known as The Watcher.
Spoilers follow for the ending of The Watcher...
In the series, the couple (played by Naomie Watts and Bobby Cannavale) seem to have put the mystery to bed when Theodora (Noma Dumezweni), the private detective they had hired, confesses to being The Watcher.
Theodora claims that she was a previous occupant of the house who wanted to get them to move out so she could get back in. However, this is later debunked, as it is revealed that the terminally ill Theodora lied and simply wished to give the family some closure before she died.

Theodora claims that she was a previous occupant of the house who wanted to get them to move out so she could get back in. However, this is later debunked, as it is revealed that the terminally ill Theodora lied and simply wished to give the family some closure before she died.

“Would you buy a haunted house?” is always a fun hypothetical to consider.
There are plenty of reasonable, skeptical folks don’t who believe in such things as ghosts or hauntings. The question for them often translates to the largely rhetorical “would you like to live in a large historical mansion?” to which the answer is obviously “yep.” Even for the true paranormal believers, however, rising mortgage interest rates and a tight housing market has to have them considering “how haunted is too haunted?” A cheeky poltergeist or two is probably fine but blood running down the walls? Eh…probably also fine (again: housing is really a nightmare in the U.S. right now).
What that hypothetical fails to address though is the terrifying possibility that the house you buy might be haunted by the living, not the dead. Such is the situation explored in Netflix‘s true crime series The Watcher.

Netflix’s limited series The Watcher is introducing a global audience to a real-life stalking case out of New Jersey.
The TV show, created by prolific producers Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, dropped Oct. 13. The spooky psychological drama centers on a couple (Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale) whose dream home becomes a nightmare when they start receiving threatening anonymous letters. The starry ensemble also includes Mia Farrow, Terry Kinney, Richard Kind and Margo Martindale, playing their curious neighbors.
The series, in the opening title card, bills itself as being based on a true story. The real events were detailed in a 2018 article in New York Magazine’s The Cut, though most of the castmembers, when speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s premiere, said the show is heavily fictionalized. “I worked very closely with Ryan [Murphy] in coming up with this guy,...

Netflix's "The Watcher" is the kind of show that makes you want to talk to your TV screen. The endlessly twisty, perpetually borderline nonsensical series that's loosely based on a true story necessitates more than the occasional "What?!" response. It's a show that keeps viewers guessing right up until the moment it ends, and indeed, at some points seems designed more as a guessing game than an actual narrative.
The series is about the Brannock family: Bobby Cannavale's high-anxiety patriarch Dean, Naomi Watts as his artist wife Nora, and their two teen kids. But more aptly, it's about one family's experience with fear and paranoia in the form of anonymous threatening letters, and the way those feelings seem to spread like a virus to the people around them. Was "The Watcher" successful at everything it tried to do? Not quite. But was it entertaining to watch the show...

In a market saturated with true crime narratives, both real and fictional, it’s hard to know which TV series are worth your time and which are better left at the bottom of your queue. The Watcher is Netflix’s latest foray into the true crime world, and is absolutely the former.
After the critiques of distastefulness that Ryan Murphy’s other recent true crime series, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, has received, no one would be blamed for having low expectations for how The Watcher would handle its real life story. But it seems as though The Watcher has avoided the exploitative tilt of its predecessor and given us another compelling yet terrifying take on real events.
Whether you’re a true crime buff, looking for another mystery to binge, or need something to do while you’re googling whether or not the titular watcher was ever caught,...

This article contains spoilers for The Watcher.
Ryan Murphy’s latest show takes on a real case – that of the Broaddus family who bought a house in Westfield, New Jersey in 2014 and subsequently began receiving highly strange and threatening letters signed off by someone calling themself The Watcher. Murphy’s show explores various possibilities as to who might have sent the letters, some based more in fact than others. So which is the most plausible? To consider that, let’s first look at the evidence.
Three letters were sent in 2014 (another came later), suggesting that The Watcher and their family had been in the neighborhood for decades and felt some level of ownership over the property.
An extract from the first letter reads:
“657 Boulevard has been the subject of my family for decades now and as it approaches its 110th birthday, I have been put in charge of watching and waiting for its second coming.

The Watcher, Ryan Murphy’s latest true crime drama offering for Netflix, makes no secret of the fact that it’s based on a true story. The saga of the house at 657 Boulevard Avenue in Westfield, New Jersey, and “The Watcher” that haunted its residents is well-covered territory. The spooky tale has been the subject of many features, including the definitive interpretation in The Cut.
What viewers might not know about The Watcher, however, is that it’s actually based on two real life stories melded into one TV show! In episode 3, The Watcher introduces us to John Graff (Joe Montello) , a mild-mannered accountant who once lived at 657 Boulevard Ave. John Graff would go on to, uh…kill his whole family (we didn’t say it was a happy true story). There isn’t a real life figure named John Graff or anyone resembling him in the original Watcher story...

This article contains No spoilers for The Watcher.
The Watcher has just about everything Netflix is looking for in a buzzy drama series.
For starters, it hails from TV-producing mastermind Ryan Murphy, who was just responsible for one of the streamer’s biggest hits in the Jeffrey Dahmer biographic drama Dahmer. The story of The Watcher also comes from terrifying real life events as recounted in The Cut’s now-classic magazine feature. And not for nothing, but The Watcher also just happens to share six letters in common with another popular Netflix series. It’s certainly fun to imagine someone clicking into The Watcher hoping to see Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia and instead getting an emotionally searing saga of modern true crime instead.
More important than any of those blockbuster factors, however, is the cast of The Watcher. As befitting a Murphy-Netflix co-production, the roster of actors here is absolutely stacked.

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “The Watcher,” including the ending.]
If one looks at the Ryan Murphy/Netflix collaborations in total, you’d be safe saying the pair haven’t crafted a match made in heaven (massive viewing numbers for “Dahmer” notwithstanding). Which is a shame, as “The Watcher” is probably the best series Murphy’s worked on for the streaming giant. What makes “The Watcher” soar is Murphy going back to what worked for him with the first “American Horror Story”: a haunted house film with a cadre of characters you simultaneously liked yet were irritated by. But at the end of the day it’s still a Murphy show, meaning that for every good thing, like Jennifer Coolidge’s real-estate agent from hell, there’s an element that makes you roll your eyes and sigh in exasperation, like pigtail wearing becoming a major plot point.
Let’s back up: Dean and Nora...

Hot off the success of his Jeffrey Dahmer series Dahmer, Ryan Murphy is back with another Netflix show inspired by a true story. This time, though, there’s a bit of a twist. The Watcher, inspired by the true story of the Broaddus family who bought a very expensive house in Westfield, New Jersey and received a series of threatening letters from someone calling themself “The Watcher”, takes a slightly different approach to true crime. It’s a weird story. And it’s never been solved, though there are many theories kicking around. The show’s approach is to allow various theories to play out, leaving you with a story that, at first glance, seems quite outlandish but with a bit of further digging is often peripherally true, could have been true, or was inspired by something that really happened.
Let’s break it all down.

Potential spoilers for "The Watcher" follow.
Between "Dahmer" and "The Watcher," Netflix's recent wave of true crime shows are getting a lot of attention. After all, there's just something deeply chilling about watching real-life cases play out. As someone who has zero tolerance for horror and still remembers being terrified when a middle school teacher forced my class to watch Disney's "The Watcher in the Woods" (I probably spent half the movie hiding in the bathroom — so much for movies in class being fun), true crime brings its own unnerving addition: the knowledge that the events on-screen could happen to just about anyone.
But while the Jeffrey Dahmer murders have been recounted time and time again, "The Watcher" is based on a relatively unknown case: the stalking and harassment of the Broaddus family (renamed Brannock in the show). Not only does the unfamiliarity bring a new level of discomfort,...

Review: Ryan Murphy’s Netflix megadeal has churned out some interesting projects over the years with a focus on adapting well-known true-crime and biographical stories. Just three weeks after Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story dropped on Netflix and became a hit for the streamer, the duo have released their next true-crime take with The Watcher.
While the Jeffrey Dahmer limited series received backlash from the family members of the serial killer’s victims for their lack of involvement in the project, the cast of The Watcher said they’re not concerned with their limited series receiving the same criticism.
Based on a true story, the series follows married couple Dean (Bobby Cannavale) and Nora Brannock (Naomi Watts) after they purchase their dream home in Westfield, New Jersey.
