The series’ official logline reads, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”
Greenfield will play Lan Levy, whose official character description says he is “a good-natured pediatrician and Isla’s encouraging fiancé.

Madrid, Nov 12 (Ians) Spain coach Luis Enrique had few surprises when he named his 26-man squad for the World Cup on Friday from the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation just outside of Madrid.
The coach has picked a squad with an emphasis on youth, including players such as Fc Barcelona trio Ansu Fati, Gavi and Pedri, and other youngsters such as Yeremy Pino, Hugo Guillamon and Nico Williams, while again ignoring calls to include Paris Saint Germain’s veteran Sergio Ramos.
There is the experience in defense, with Jordi Alba, Dani Carvajal and Cesar Azpilicueta all included, although there was no place for Athletic Club Bilbao’s Inigo Martinez, with Valencia’s Hugo Guillamon, who can also play in midfield if needed, given the nod.

Liverpool, Oct 1 (Ians) Former champions Liverpool came back from two goals down to lead but were eventually held 3-3 by Brighton & Hove Albion propped up by Leo Trossard, who scored the club’s first Premier League hat-trick as they held the Reds 3-3 in a six-goal thriller at Anfield here on Saturday.
The Reds came from two down to lead 3-2 on Saturday afternoon as Roberto Firmino’s double was supplemented by an Adam Webster own goal, but Leandro Trossard completed his hat-trick with seven minutes left to secure a point for the visitors.
Trossard scored twice inside the opening 17 minutes to give Roberto De Z’rbi’s side a healthy early advantage, but Firmino made it 2-1 at the break.
Firmino’s second of the game restored parity quickly after half-time and it appeared that the hosts had managed a remarkable turnaround when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner bounced in off Webster.

Madrid (Spain), Sep 17 (Ians) Spain coach Luis Enrique brought in two new faces when he named his squad for the forthcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Switzerland and Portugal on Friday.
Betis striker Borja Iglesias and Athletic Club Bilbao winger Nico Williams were both included in the 25-man squad, which is also the last squad Enrique will give before naming his final group to the World Cup finals in Qatar.
“This would be the list if the World Cup was to start tomorrow, no doubt about it. I always take the players that I consider to be the best,” Enrique told a press conference.

Director Mike Ott wraps up his trilogy of films set in the Antelope Valley of Southern California with this, his beguiling fourth feature, Lake Los Angeles. Getting a lot of mileage out of a simple, near fairy tale like story, Ott and company have crafted a film that speaks to the sensitive, stubborn and inquisitive nature of childhood, as well as to identity and culture in the melting pot that is America. Francisco (Roberto Sanchez) is a forty-something Cuban exile living in a ramshackle house amidst a fruit tree grove in the otherwise barren desert town of Lake Los Angeles. Amidst day laborer gigs for near-by estates, Francisco uses his house as a holding point for illegal immigrants who have recently crossed the border. Acting...

Laff Review: 'Lake Los Angeles' Is a Dreamy, Mystical Portrait of a Place Steeped in Harsh Realities
Director Mike Ott returns to the Los Angeles Film Festival with “Lake Los Angeles,” the third film in what has become known as his Antelope Valley trilogy. Following the dovetailing paths of an older male Cuban immigrant, and a young female Mexican immigrant, “Lake Los Angeles” is a dreamy slice of desert sun-baked magical realism. With captivating performances by the two leads, Roberto Sanchez and Johanna Trujillo, a hypnotic sound design, and light-saturated cinematography, Ott’s film casts a spell while also remaining firmly rooted in the realities of that life. Francisco (Sanchez) is a Cuban immigrant who has found himself away from his wife and children on that tropical island, trapped in land locked inland California. He works some pick up yard work jobs here and there, but his main source of income comes from providing a temporary safe house to illegal immigrants transported by coyote Adria (Eloy Mendez). Francisco is thoughtful,...

One of the most beautifully shot films at the Los Angeles Film Festival will have to be Mike Ott’s “Lake Los Angeles.”
Ott returns to the film festival circuit after “Littlerock” and “Pearblossom Hwy” to complete his highly visual trilogy.
In this film, it portrays a couple of immigrants in the lonesome part of the United States in pursuit of the American dream. It follows two separate immigrants in the Lake Los Angeles area. One is the middle-aged Cuban exile who works at a holding house for illegal immigrants from Mexcio. And the other is a young ten-year-old Mexican girl who crossed the border without her family. They both cross path and realize the reality of the American dream.

Title: Littlerock Writer-director: Mike Ott Starring: Atsuko Okatsuka, Cory Zacharia, Rintaro Sawamoto, Roberto Sanchez, Brett L. Tinnes, Ryan Dillon A nicely photographed and initially intriguing character study of a road trip gone awry, and a sibling pair of foreign travelers waylaid in a land foreign to them, “Littlerock” quickly fumbles away any sense of delicate engagement, and ends up a collection of posed and meandering down-tempo moments in search of an inciting incident or clarifying signifier. Pleased with itself more than it ought to be, the movie seems to believe or feel that dawdling for dawdling’s sake is in the end its own kind of precious artistic statement, a fact only underscored...

After failing to convince Will Smith to star in his proposed adaptation of Fantastic Voyage and with very few A-listers deemed worthy enough to bring the adventure movie to life, director Shawn Levy could soon turn his attention to a new project at 20th Century Fox that will act as his next feature post-Real Steel.
Deadline reports that Levy is looking at re-telling the Frankenstein story with yet another adaptation of Mary Shelley’s famous Gothic novel that could go into production late this year or early 2012. This one has been scripted by Max Landis (son of John) and yes, it’s another Frankenstein and if I’m a little suspect as to whether this will actually happen…. take a look at this.
Since WhatCulture! (then Obsessed With Film) started in mid 2006, we’ve had no less than half a dozen Frankenstein movies threatened by Hollywood but none of them ever made.

Unlike 2009, there were no punches thrown between critics, at least that we know of, though it didn't make it any less strange a year for film writers. While there was no assault, that didn't rule out blackmail - as when FirstShowing.net's Alex Billington was accused by rival movie website writers of threatening to ruin Universal's secret screening of "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World" at Comic-Con by revealing the time and location in advance - or the far more serious allegations of sexual abuse against IESB.net founder Robert Sanchez, who fled the country only to turn up at the first press screening of "Tron: Legacy" in November.
In substantially better developments, "At the Movies" sadly came to an end with Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott at the helm, but will be born anew under original co-host Roger Ebert's watchful eye with Associated Press critic Christy Lemire in one...
