‘The Chapel’ Teaser Trailer – Preview Supernatural Horror Movie from ‘Piggy’ Director Carlota Pereda
The director of last year’s Piggy, Spanish filmmaker Carlota Pereda is back with new movie The Chapel, and Filmax has shared the supernatural horror film’s teaser trailer today.
Carlota Pereda describes The Chapel as “a very personal story” about “how hard being a mother and daughter can be, how, sometimes, we don’t understand each other until we reach adulthood and, like in all ghost stories, it’s too late…. Or maybe, just maybe, this time, it isn’t.”
In the film, “Emma wants to learn how to communicate with the spirit of a little girl who has spent centuries trapped inside a chapel and so she tries to convince Carol, a skeptical and fake medium, to help her. Contacting the spirit will help her to remain close to her sick mother once she dies. What Carol doesn’t suspect is that Emma really does have “the gift” and,...

This looks freaky cool. A full-length international trailer has debuted for a Spanish horror fantasy film titled Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil, which has been playing at a few of the big horror film festivals in Europe since premiering in Sitges late last year. From Spanish filmmaker Paul Urkijo Alijo, Errementari does tell the story of a blacksmith outside of a small town, who is perhaps possessed by the devil. It's actually about a government commissioner investigating the blacksmith, and a young orphan girl named Usue who manages to sneak inside the smithy's place and discover the truth. Errementari stars Kandido Uranga as the blacksmith Patxi, Uma Bracaglia as Usue, plus Eneko Sagardoy, Ramón Aguirre, José Ramón Argoitia, Gorka Aguinagalde, Josean Bengoetxea, and Iñigo de la Iglesia. I'm not sure what to make of this, could be good or could be bad. The shot of the devil at the end is wicked.

"Flowers," Spain's official selection for the 2016 Oscars, follows three women whose lives become unexpectedly linked when Ane (Nagore Aranburu) begins receiving mysterious—and, if the trailer is any indication, gorgeous—bouquets. The film, co-directed by Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga, is the first ever film is Euskara, the Basque language, to compete for the prize. Still, slightly chilling, and occasionally darkly comic, the trailer calls to mind the films of Pedro Almodóvar, though much more restrained in terms of color and tone. "Dead people are dead," one character avers. "End of story." In "Flowers," as Ane tries to figure out who's sending these anonymous gifts, the aging Tere (Itziar Aizpuru) hopes her only son, Beñat (Josean Bengoetxea), and his wife, Lourdes (Itziar Ituño), will give her a grandchild—only to be disappointed. When tragedy strikes suddenly, flowers start to appear again, only this...

We’re here to continue our little festival chat and represent another title In Competition for the Golden Lion statue, this year, at 67th Venice Film Festival.
Balada triste de trompeta or A Sad Trumpet Ballad is the movie that comes from Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia, and it’s already been described as the comedy that follows two circus clowns, but it’s definitely more than just a comedy….
Here’s the A Sad Trumpet Ballad synopsis: “…1937. The circus monkeys scream wildly inside their cage while, outside, men kill and die in another circus: the Spanish Civil War.
The Stupid Clown, recruited against his will by the Militia, ends up carrying out a bloodbath with a machete against the National soldiers while still wearing his costume.
And so starts this eventful adventure in which Javier and Sergio, two terrifyingly disfigured clowns, fight to the death for the ambiguous...

Oddly enough Dominic Murphy's White Lightnin' will be playing although it's having it's premier at Sundance. Another film we reported on, Uli Lommel's Absolute Evil starring David Carradine will also be playing, and I'm still wondering how the hell they got that in there.
You can check out the list of all 21 titles after the break.
