That surge of excitement has hit a fever pitch for fans as rumors swirl and fan-made trailers ignite our imaginations about Keanu Reeves playing John Constantine again. News of Constantine 2 has been much anticipated by fans, especially since it was earlier reported that the Canadian actor, 59, will play the title character again.
The first film narrated the tale of John Constantine, a cynical demon hunter who must navigate the murky alleys of a parallel, horrifying reality. Although Warner Bros. has not formally disclosed a release date, there is much conjecture that the follow-up film may arrive in theaters early in 2025.

Stephen King's books that have not yet been adapted fall into three groups: "no one tried to adapt it," "someone tried but couldn't adapt it," and "someone is trying to adapt it right now."
The Long Walk is just one of those books, and it belongs to both the second and third categories. Stephen King himself considers it to be one of his best novels. The author created it as a student, but could not publish it for a long time.
What is The Long Walk About?
The characters in The Long Walk live in an alternative future America. Once upon a time there was a global catastrophe, but the author deliberately hides the details from us. It is now a police state ruled by a dictator known as the Major.
On his initiative, a survival game is held every year – 100 young men, accompanied by military personnel, set out on a certain route.

A couple of years ago, it was announced that Warner Bros. and producer Akiva Goldsman‘s company Weed Road are working on a sequel to the 2007 Richard Matheson adaptation I Am Legend (watch it Here), which will see Will Smith reprising the role of Dr. Robert Neville, now joined in the cast by an unspecified character played by Michael B. Jordan. We haven’t heard much about I Am Legend 2 as time has gone by – but Entertainment Tonight caught up with Smith at a screening of the new Bad Boys sequel Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and he confirmed that it’s still in the works, adding that there are “really solid ideas” for this sequel.
Smith said that he and Jordan “had a couple weeks together about a month ago. I think it’s looking good. [We have some] really solid ideas… I think we’re going to make it on screen together.

Francis Lawrence's 2007 post-apocalyptic drama "I Am Legend" is based loosely on the celebrated 1954 novel by Richard Matheson. The original novel is set in the near future of 1976 when a destructive war has ravaged the Earth, and a horrible virus has infected the survivors. The virus transforms its victims into pale-skinned, nocturnal ghouls with an appetite for human blood, more or less making them vampires. The novel follows Robert Neville, seemingly the last human alive, as he tries to survive in a ravaged Los Angeles and study the virus during the daylight hours. The title comes from the novel's famous twist ending.
"I Am Legend" was adapted to film in 1964 as "The Last Man on Earth," and in 1971 as "The Omega Man," before Lawrence's 2007 version. Lawrence's version transposes the action to New York and makes Neville (Will Smith) into a surviving virologist attempting to come up with a cure for the vampire virus.

Keanu Reeves is making headlines again after joining the cast of Paramount‘s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog by engaging in talks to star in Triangle of Sadness director Ruben Östlund’s next feature, The Entertainment System Is Down.
Variety broke the news on Friday. Still, details about the plot remain a mystery. Östlund says The Entertainment System Is Down is a social satire set on a long-haul flight with a faulty entertainment system. As boredom spreads throughout the cabin, rage starts to overwhelm the passengers. Chaos ensues. The idea for Östlund’s next feature is something he’s been building for years. The filmmaker says he’s been collecting anecdotes to use as inspiration for The Entertainment System Is Down, with several years of material at his disposal. Though it likely involves dark comedy and sharp humor, Reeves’s role remains a mystery.

It’s been almost twenty years, but there’s a chance we might see Keanu Reeves reprising his role as John Constantine on the big screen! In November 2012, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro struck a deal to make a Justice League Dark movie featuring DC Comics’ supernatural characters, including John Constantine. In November 2020, actor Peter Stormare hinted at a sequel possibly being in progress through an Instagram post. However, neither Warner Bros. nor Reeves themselves confirmed this at the time.
Then, in 2023, Francis Lawrence mentioned that he and Keanu Reeves were brainstorming ideas for the sequel, but every time they came close to something solid, the management at DC studio would undergo changes.
“But luckily, we managed to wrangle some control and started working on some ideas for Constantine 2, which we’re really excited about. It’s still the very beginning, as the strike put it on hold for a little bit.

The two leads carry the film effortlessly, Tom Blyth in particular does a fantastic job of giving complexity to Snow, showcasing a flawed but ambitious character as we slowly see his loss of humanity grow on screen. The film, unlike its predecessors,...

The Berlin Film Festival has just three Indian narrative fiction features in the 2024 lineup, but all of them are sophomore efforts by filmmakers who have already won global acclaim for their debuts.
Raam Reddy burst onto the international scene with “Thithi” (“Funeral”), which won the Golden Leopard — Filmmakers of the Present and the First Feature awards at Locarno in 2015. Reddy’s ”The Fable,” which screens in Berlin’s Encounters strand, follows a happy family who live as owners of a vast Himalayan orchard, until a series of mysterious fires bring into question who they really are. The cast includes Manoj Bajpayee, Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Tillotama Shome and Hiral Sidhu.
P.S. Vinothraj won Rotterdam’s top award, the Tiger, for “Koozhangal” (“Pebbles”) in 2021. Vinothraj’s “Kottukkaali” (“The Adamant Girl”), screening in Berlin’s Forum strand, follows a young woman who is in love with a man from one of India...

What does it take for a movie adaptation to transcend its source material? Many a filmmaker uses a book as a blueprint (whether or not they read it in its entirety) but take creative license to put their own unique stylistic and/or thematic spin on what is necessarily a much more visual story than the original one on the page. Often that’s taking a key character—whether a comic book antihero or an unnamed book protagonist—and giving them an entirely new backstory or quest. Or choosing a different point of view that opens up new storytelling avenues. In some cases, book and movie follow the same premise but diverge wildly at the end… or they do reach the same narrative conclusion, but on radically different paths that will leave you with very different emotional reactions as a viewer.

"Hunger Games" fans returned to Panem in 2023 with the release of the prequel "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," about the teen years of future President Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) and his ill-fated romance with folk musician Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler). The movie did well enough at the box office and was mostly praised by critics (/Film's review was more mixed) — but is all that enough for a sequel?
Upon the release of "Ballad" in November 2023, several members of the cast and creative team sat down with People magazine to answer this question. The main takeaway from their answers? It depends on Suzanne Collins, author of "The Hunger Games." For reference, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" is adapted from Collins' eponymous novel (published in 2020), and she's given no indication that she's writing a sequel. Without literary source material, there won't be a film sequel either.

Sam Claflin Is ‘100%’ Open to Returning to ‘The Hunger Games’: ‘I Would Be All in for Finnick’s Dad’
Sam Claflin told Variety that he would be “100%” open to returning to “The Hunger Games” franchise.
Speaking with Marc Malkin during Variety On the Carpet, presented by Directv, Claflin opened up about his reaction to the prequel film “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and the potential for his widely beloved character Finnick to make an appearance in future “Hunger Games” projects.
Though he is willing to return to the dystopian world of Panem, Claflin fears his age might be a detriment: “I don’t know if there’s room for me to go back. I’m too old now.”
The actor did add, however, “I’ve heard rumors that people are asking for a Finnick prequel, and all I’m gonna say is that I would be all in for Finnick’s dad.”

Jennifer Lawrence may have lost the Golden Globe for female actor in a motion picture comedy or musical, but she provided some of the best moments of the 2024 ceremony. She went viral for mouthing “If I don’t win, I’m leaving!” at the camera when her nomination was announced, and then she generated more headlines for reuniting with her “Hunger Games” co-star Lenny Kravitz while inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The two actors starred as Katniss and Cinna, respectively, in “The Hunger Games” (2012) and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” (2013). As Cinna was Katniss’ stylist, the two actors shared many scenes together during production.

Viola Davis as Dr Volumnia Gaul in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Photo Credit: Murray Close Having directed all of the Hunger Games films since the second, Francis Lawrence had a pretty good idea of what he wanted when the prequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, was being cast. And one of those things he wanted was Oscar-winner Viola Davis in the role of Dr. Volumnia Gaul. The only thing standing in the way was a request from the author of the Hunger Games book series, Suzanne Collins, but Lawrence told explained they were able to find a creative way around that issue. Would it be a stretch to call "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" a surprise success? Between Hollywood's many (and sweaty) failed attempts to score a hit tentpole this year and eight years having passed since "Mockingjay -- Part 2" ended the original "Hunger Games" tetralogy on a box office low, there was fair reason to suspect "Songbirds and Snakes" would prove to be yet another financially disappointing return to the well. Yet, despite that, the "Hunger Games" prequel has done alright by itself since its opening last month, trucking along to a global box office haul in the vicinity of $300 million.
It absolutely helped that director Francis Lawrence (who's helmed every "Hunger Games" film to date after the first movie) kept his budget down to a relatively modest $100 million. "Songbirds and Snakes" itself was perhaps the most divisive entry in the series thus far, earning a mixed...

When it comes to costume changes in horror movies, the term is a little more elastic than merely an actor obtaining a different wardrobe. A "costume" in a horror movie might refer to full-body latex or an animatronic suit to completely transform an actor's physicality. It could mean a character goes from being an actor in an outfit to a CG creation. Or it may address the fact that, in adapting non-filmic source material, changes had to be made for the camera, or were made by editorial decision.
Whether it be between installments of a franchise, or from original to remake, or from costume to special effect and vice versa, audiences do not embrace every change. And in some cases, even if most people like a change, purists remain unconvinced. Horror movies, novels, and comics leave indelible images in our minds, so when a newer version "re-skins" them, so to speak,...

Shortly after Halle Bailey and Rachel Zegler were crowned real-life Disney princesses, they met for the first time at a ball — the 2021 Met Gala, to be exact. It was the beginning not only of a beautiful friendship, but of a new era for Disney. Bailey became the first Black Ariel in Rob Marshall’s live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” based on Disney’s beloved 1989 animated film. Zegler — who used to dress up as Snow White as a little girl — will embody a Latina fairy-tale heroine who befriends seven CGI-created dwarves in 2025’s “Snow White.”
The singer-actors are also showcasing their golden voices in literary adaptations: Bailey, as young Nettie in “The Color Purple”; Zegler, as Lucy Gray Baird in the “Hunger Games” prequel “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.” Here, Bailey, 23, and Zegler, 22, reflect on their princess experiences and strategies for silencing the social media haters.

Blyth will play Frederic Henry, a volunteer ambulance driver who is injured in Italy during the first World War and falls in love with his nurse.

Post strikes, Michael B Jordan is still set to feature alongside Will Smith in the sequel to the 2007 hit, I Am Legend.
Will Smith has appeared at the Red Sea International Film Festival over the weekend, where he confirmed that I Am Legend 2 is still happening.
What’s more, he also confirmed the name of his co-star for the project, and it’s still Michael B Jordan.
There was talk of Jordan – star of the Creed movies and plenty of other high-profile successes – doing the film back when it was first announced in early March of last year. Then the Oscars slap happened a couple of weeks later, Smith’s career took a nosedive, and lots of people assumed that I Am Legend 2 might not happen.
Jordan, meanwhile, has since made his directorial debut with Creed III, and is confirmed as the director (and star of course) of Creed IV as well.

With Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” looking to continue its reign at the top spot of the box office, it’s time to consider the most sonorous secret to its success: its original, bluegrass-tinted song selection, including a theme written and produced by Dave Cobb (with lyrics from “Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins), and sung soulfully by the film’s star, Rachel Zegler.
Reaching back to the 2020 prequel novel by Suzanne Collins that the movie is based on, Zegler points out how clearly Appalachian Lucy was, and how her accent exists in that vernacular throughout the duration of the novel, something that was destined to carry over into the music.

Young adult literary franchises have a rough track record on cinema screens. Sure, “Harry Potter” is a (now tarnished) cultural touchstone. But the “Twilight” books became famously bad (albeit iconic) films, and that’s to say nothing of the absolute graveyard of sputtered, failed, or forgotten YA adaptations that Hollywood populated during the late ’00s and early 2010s. Did you know that they made three “Maze Runner” films? That the “Divergent” films were supposed to end with a TV show that never happened? That two “Percy Jackson” movies were made before the upcoming TV show? That “Eragon” even exists? If you do remember, you’ve likely been trying hard to forget.
Which makes the general high quality of “The Hunger Games” films all the more impressive. It helps that the Lionsgate franchise has always had better material to mine than most of the other dystopian disasters that attempted to capitalize on its runaway success.

Earlier this week, we heard that Francis Lawrence, whose previous credits include Constantine, I Am Legend, Water for Elephants, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, Red Sparrow, Slumberland, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is the latest director to be attached to helm an adaptation of The Long Walk, a Stephen King novel that was published under the Richard Bachman pen name back in 1979. Now The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Long Walk is set up at Lionsgate, with Lawrence in “final talks” to direct. So this will be a continuation of the working relationship Lionsgate and Lawrence have had on the Hunger Game films.
Joe Drake of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group provided the following statement: “When you have enjoyed the strong creative collaboration and success that we have had working with Francis, you want to repeat that experience as much as possible.

There have been tons of film adaptations of Stephen King‘s work over the years, but there’s one early novel of the prolific writer that’s never made it to the big screen: 1979’s “The Long Walk.” Several filmmakers have eyed the book for a movie over the years, including George A. Romero and Frank Darabont. But according to THR, it looks like “The Hunger Games” helmer Francis Lawrence leads the charge on the project now.

The rights to Stephen King’s 1979 novel, The Long Walk, have been acquired by Lionsgate, and according to new reports, the project is set to be adapted into a film directed by Francis Lawrence.
Previously, a movie based on The Long Walk was in development by New Line Cinema with André Øvredal attached to direct, but after the rights lapsed in the summer of 2022, work on the project was abandoned. Now, Lionsgate has picked up the dystopian story, and will bring it to life, with Lawrence directing and producing a script by Jt Mollner (Outlaws and Angels). Roy Lee (2017’s It) will produce as well.
Lawrence is fresh on the heels of his latest release: the latest Hunger Games film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which debuted earlier this month and has grossed north of $200 million so far. In a statement, Joe Drake, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group,...

We just learned earlier this week that Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) is on board to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1979 novel The Long Walk, and The Hollywood Reporter brings us some more information tonight.
The project had previously been set up at New Line, but THR reports that Stephen King’s The Long Walk has a new home at Lionsgate, with Lawrence in “final talks” to direct.
Additionally, they report that Jt Mollner (Strange Darling) will write the script.
THR also notes that Roy Lee (It) is on board to produce the upcoming movie.
“When you have enjoyed the strong creative collaboration and success that we have had working with Francis, you want to repeat that experience as much as possible,” said Joe Drake, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “We couldn’t be more excited about reuniting with him on The Long Walk.
