Shoreline Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and sales company, has picked up world sales rights to wine-country mystery-thriller, The Dark Place, from Blue Seraph Productions.
Jody Wheeler (Heat Wave, In the Closet) directed the story, with J.T. Tepnapa (Judas Kiss), from Wheeler’s own screenplay, with Carlos Pedraza producing.
The film focuses on Keegan Dark, a troubled young man cursed with the uncanny ability to remember his life in videographic detail. He returns to his family’s wine estate, boyfriend in tow, to make amends with his estranged mother, only to discover a conspiracy that frames him for murder and threatens his family’s lives and livelihood.
Pictured: After a near-fatal mishap, Keegan Dark (Blaise Embry) is examined by a doctor (Andy Copeland) who may not have Keegan’s best interests at heart.

Blue Seraph Productions announced that Travis Richey (Pretty Little Liars) will join the cast of The Dark Place, the mystery-thriller written by Jody Wheeler and to be helmed by Judas Kiss director J.T. Tepnapa.
Richey is famous for his brief turn as Inspector Spacetime -a running gag on the critically underrated NBC comedy series Community- that inspired (after NBC and Sony sort of said, “Yeah, no”) him and writing partner Eric Loya to create Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time. That web series was a huge success (hailed by USA Today as one of the Best TV on the Web in 2012) and the people that made it are now preparing to begin production on Season Two.
They’re also working on a “prequel” episode that will bridge the gap between season one and two, and you can visit their Kickstarter campaign to learn how you can help.

Blue Seraph Productions announced the casting of Blaise Embry and Eduardo Rioseco for director J.T. Tepnapa’s follow up film to the indie hit Judas Kiss, the mystery-thriller, The Dark Place. Embry and Rioseco join already announced actors Sean Paul Lockhart and Timo Descamps (both in Judas Kiss) as well as Going Down in La La Land’s Allison Lane.
Embry will play Keegan Dark, a troubled young man who returns home to reconcile with his estranged mother, who has been running the family winery estate all by herself. But all does not go as planned and Keegan and his boyfriend (Timo Descamps) are soon caught up in a web of deceit and violence as his return unleashes a dark conspiracy that could see him as the prime suspect in a murder plot and the destruction of everything he holds dear.

Director of Judas Kiss, Jt Tepnapa talks about his next two projects with writer Carlos Pedraza, writer Jody Wheeler and Cinematographer David Berry: The Dark Place & Something Like Summer here
Two and a half years ago, Kickstarter backers helped us make our first feature film, Judas Kiss, which went on to win many awards — and now it’s available all over the world! That critically acclaimed film about love, second chances and getting it right was a meaningful story, with relatable characters and top-notch production values.
We quickly raised enough funding to get two new feature films ready to shoot in 2013: The Dark Place and Something Like Summer, two very different stories. One is a mystery-thriller and the other an adaptation of a wonderful love story; both will be presented with all of the care and skill we brought to Judas Kiss.
This time out we want to do even better.

The festival hit Judas Kiss, with a screenplay by Carlos Pedraza and directed J.T. Tepnapa, won film distributor and online retailer Tla Video’s annual Gaybie Award in three categories, including for Best Drama, Best Actor for Charlie David and Best Supporting Actor Sean Paul Lockhart (also nominated in the supporting role was The Killing‘s Richard Harmon, who played Danny Reyes). The film was co-produced by our own DoorQus Maximus (also known as Jody), so we can all be safe and live another day as we bow before him (which he requires, and kinda likes).
“We are honored that the film has been nominated, and proud of our cast members for the recognition of their stellar performances,” said writer-producer Carlos Pedraza.
“We were up against some very fine films — including Oscar winners, big-budget mainstream studio films and network dramas,” said director J.T. Tepnapa. “The dedication and professionalism of our cast and crew,...

American Horror Story's Evan Peters was discussing the Rubber Man suit, but the quote is just amazing. And maybe a little familiar sounding. "I don’t know if you’ve ever put on lube before, but it’s not like there’s a layer of Vaseline on you; it’s just almost like your skin is super smooth and slick; it feels kind of gross, but at the same time, you feel really well moisturized. You’re not like, 'Ew, get it off of me.' You’re more like, 'This is kind of gross. I want to get this off as soon as possible. But maybe I can stop and get a sandwich first.'”
Contrary to reports from, well, everywhere, Newt Gingrich did not say that gays should vote for Obama.
Does anyone know if White Castle rents tables by the month? Because if this happens, I may want to live there.

Returning back to Keystone Summit University forces Zach to face his past head-on, especially when Zach has one-night stand with a budding young filmmaker whose film, Judas Kiss, is in the finals of the competition that Zach is judging. That student goes by the name Danny Reyes (Richard Harmon) -- by no coincidence, that is also Zach's birth name, the very same name that Zach used while he attended Keystone 15 years ago. Oh, and Zach's Keystone Film Festival winning film from 15 years ago was also titled Judas Kiss. So,...

‘Green Lantern’: A Superhero Movie™ that should have soared instead merely glides at low altitude.
By Carlos Pedraza
I think the best way to start this review is to confess my overweening mancrush on Greg Berlanti. Here he is, writing and producing a huge-budget superhero/scifi movie — the same guy behind one of my favorite TV family dramas (Everwood), the inestimable Dawson’s Creek (don’t be haters, people), the recently canceled No Ordinary Family and the brilliant WB classic, Jack & Bobby.
The guy’s résumé resists every effort at pigeon-holing. Clearly, he’s one of us — a doorq (dork, for you traditionalists).
And yet, here we have Green Lantern. Wracked by production challenges, possibly lamed by marketing missteps, this big-budget treatment of one of DC Comics’ most venerable characters suffers from what appears to be a kitchen-sink and formulaic approach to packaging a Summer Super-Hero Movie™.

Super 8 is a summer spectacular that proves you can have explosions, aliens and a good story alongside characters you care about.
By Carlos Pedraza
Set aside the comparisons to E.T. and The Iron Giant. J.J. Abrams’ and Steven Spielberg’s Big Summer Movie stands on its own — an explosive and compelling showcase of both filmmakers’ strengths that should shame lesser storytellers’ so-called summer blockbusters.
Yes, Brett Ratner (X-Men 3), Todd Phillips (Hangover 2) and Michael Bay (every Transformers film ever made and likely to be made), I’m talking to you. I’m talking about how you sacrifice real storytelling for cynical cash-generating clones of once-original concepts; about how you fool spectacle-loving audiences into parting with their hard-earned cash with mere gimmicks (CGI and 3D).
Thankfully, Super 8’s writer-director Abrams and producer Spielberg understand that their past successes give them a special responsibility to continue try to give us good stories.

Wolfe Video has acquired the domestic rights to distribute "Judas Kiss," the first full-length independent feature from two filmmakers best known for their work in fan Star Trek productions. Wolfe will handle both video-on-demand and DVD rights for "Judas Kiss" in the United States and Canada. Another distribution company, Pro-Fun Media, will release the film to audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. "Judas Kiss" stars Charlie David and one-time "Caprica" actor Richard Harmon. It centers around a washed up film producer who earns a chance to get things right in a way that would make "The Twilight Zone" proud. It was written by Carlos Pedraza (who worked with "Star Trek" Tribbles creator David Gerrold to adapt a failed "Star Trek: The Next Generation" script into a fan production) ...

As science-fiction fans, the concept is classic: What if you really did have a chance to fix the mistakes of your past. Would you do it? Could you do it? Hell, would you even recognize that you actually made mistakes in the first place? Pedraza, best known to genre fans for his work in online productions such as "Star Trek: New Voyages" and "Star Trek: Hidden Frontier," made a huge leap to the big screen ... and survived to tell about it. It's no secret that I have been showing a lot of support for the independent film "Judas Kiss." It premiered a few weeks ago in Phoenix, and its next stop is a film festival in Miami Easter weekend, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Two people I truly admire -- J.T. Tepnapa and Carlos Pedraza -- were involved in this film from start to finish. Joining them was a wonderful cast and crew that brought the words I enjoyed in the script to life on the silver screen. Because I have such a fond personal interest in "Judas Kiss," it's kind of hard for me to be entirely objective. But I make every effort to do so. When Jody Wheeler, a co-producer of the film and the site maestro for the gay-themed science-fiction site DoorQ asked me to take a look at the script more than a year ago,...

Wonderfully, Jt hasn't fallen behind on making the days' shots, always a concern on a low-budget film and an incredible testament to the entire, outstanding crew.

Brent Corrigan will star in the mainstream gay film "Judas Kiss", set to begin shooting in Seattle on August 13, 2010. Also starring is Charlie David of "Dante's Cove" and Richard Harmon of the Syfy Channel's hit show "Caprica." The film is scheduled to start the film festival circuit in January 2011.
"Judas Kiss" is about taking risks, seeking second chances, and finding the inspiration to succeed in an ever-evolving gay society. This is Brent's breakout role and he is already pouring himself into developing his character.
Four years in development, the screenplay is written by Carlos Pedraza and J.T. Tepnapa, already veteran filmmakers. The quality of their work is apparent on their You Tube Channel. Tepnapa, an award-winning director of short films, will direct Judas Kiss.
Principal funding by private investors to shoot the film on location in Seattle is nearly secured, though investment units for funding post-production costs are still available.

A wink and a nod: Is there a coded message behind actor Christopher Eccleston’s explanation why he quit Doctor Who after just one season? He says he “didn’t enjoy the environment and the culture” of the show. And the media is just leaving it at that.
It sort of came out of nowhere, years later, in an interview with the U.K. magazine Radio Times. After a successful reinvention of the Doctor Who franchise in 2005, star Christopher Eccleston rather mysteriously bowed out at the end of the first season.
The official announcement cited a grueling production schedule and Eccleston’s fear of being typecast. The BBC later retracted its statement and admitted it hadn’t spoken to Eccleston before it was issued.
And that’s where things remained until Eccleston’s Radio Times interview this week in the run-up to his role in the upcoming BBC biopic Lennon Naked.

It's almost impossible to dismiss online productions such as "Star Trek: Phase II" and "Star Trek: Hidden Frontiers" as simply fan productions, winning accolades for their work with minimal budgets and even some believe inspiring a reboot of the Star Trek franchise. You won't see J.T. Tepnapa nor Carlos Pedraza discounting those productions at all. In fact, the two -- who are set to begin filming on the indie feature "Judas Kiss" in August -- tell Alpha Waves Radio that there's no telling what the two would be doing right now if it weren't for Star Trek and the Internet. "It provided me free training," said Tepnapa, the director of "Judas Kiss." "I got to produce and got to direct on these projects for 10 years. I just love that, and I am very lucky. It has been a springboard to do ...

Vancouver, B.C. — If you watched the latest episode of Fringe you know that the Alternate Earth in J.J. Abrams’ hit show is supposed to be more advanced than “our” Earth, but in my visit to Vancouver, British Columbia, I stumbled through a wormhole into that parallel universe and discovered its denizens have had to suffer from some questionable taste in movie sequels.
Fringe is shot in Vancouver, of course, and that city’s downtown streets often double for Boston and New York. The Empire Theater on Howe Street has been re-dressed to portray the show’s Alternate Earth, where Motorola Razrs were invented 30 years before they were in our world and the world has had to endure more sequels than even we have.
Here are some iPhone photos of posters for the movies advertised on the theater’s marquee.
Okay, this last one wasn't from Fringe but this Canadian...

Joseph Adama's clumsiness got his character booted out of New Cap City on "Caprica," but Richard Harmon has no plans on leaving the genre anytime soon. Harmon, who played Heracles in a three-episode stint on Syfy's "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff last month, has been cast in the independent film "Judas Kiss," according to gay-themed science-fiction site DoorQ. Harmon, 18, will play Danny Reyes, a gay film student who attends a university "at the crossroads of parallel timelines." There he will be caught in a "tug of war between a tortured past and a troubling future." The film, which is scheduled to be shot in late summer in Seattle, is directed by J.T. Tepnapa and written by Carlos Pedraza. Tepnapa is an actor and a director, probably best known to genre fans in his stint playing Hikaru ...

The Hollywood Reporter noted today that Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica spinoff, the prequel drama Caprica, is rising in the ratings, but what does this portend given the show’s impending mid-season hiatus?
The Nielsen ratings for last Friday’s episode rose by 18 percent to 1.3 million viewers, THR reported. The show hasn’t seen numbers like that since its second week on the air a couple months ago.
It’s an impressive achievement for a serialized drama that typically loses viewers as it marches through its run, even if it is critically acclaimed.
Caprica has garnered that acclaim, and it features a fantastic cast. It has suffered from some uneven writing and pacing in its first several episodes but its fifth episode, “There is Another Sky,” (only viewable on Hulu for another four days!) introduced the rich virtual world of New Caprica City, which kicked the series into a higher creative gear.

Dragon*Con, North America’s largest fan-run Sf convention, has hired a pro — actor Garrett Wang of Star Trek: Voyager — to lead its popular Star Trek track at this year’s event.
The con recently dispatched longtime TrekTrak director Eric Watts “with thanks” for his 17 years of service and promised attendees that “nothing has prepared you for what we have in store for this year’s ‘Trek Track.’”
Wang, best known for his role as Ensign Harry Kim in Star Trek: Voyager, accepted the position of Trek Track director. In his seven seasons on the popular series, Wang became a fan favorite as the clarinet-playing operations officer of the USS Voyager.
The Dragon*Con announcement called Wang “a science fiction fan as well as a Star Trek insider [who] will bring a fresh perspective to this year’s programming.”

Los Angeles — Charlie David, star of the popular series Dante’s Cove and the recent feature Mulligans, is slated to star in the independent film Judas Kiss, the movie’s producers announced today.
David will play the role of Zachary Wells, a washed-up filmmaker who returns to his peculiar alma mater, where he meets his younger self and gets the chance to change his troubled past so he can avoid a disturbing future.
Judas Kiss is the first feature film from director J.T. Tepnapa, who has won many international

“Charlie’s experience in front of and behind the camera will add so much to Judas Kiss’ production values.

The most alien creature in the Star Trek universe? An openly gay person, none of whom have been seen in more than forty years of official Star Trek movies and TV spin-offs.
But the Uss Enterprise will be at least a little gayer this Saturday when Peter Kirk, the openly gay nephew of Captain James T. Kirk, and his boyfriend set foot on board the starship.
No, this isn’t a storyline in any upcoming series sanctioned by CBS, which currently own the rights to the Star Trek TV franchise, nor is it part of J.J.
