The most expensive film ever made at the time of its release, Waterworld has thrilled audiences through the years with its awe-inspiring action scenes, gargantuan maritime sets and ground-breaking special effects.
A definitive post-apocalypse blockbuster, Waterworld stars Kevin Costner (The Untouchables) as The Mariner – a mutant trader, adrift in a dystopian future where Earth is submerged under water and humankind struggles to survive on boats and in ramshackle floating cities. The Mariner becomes embroiled with the Smokers, a gang of pirates who, led by villainous leader Deacon, are seeking Enola, a girl with a map to the mythical realm of Dryland tattooed on her back.
Famous for both its epic scale and the controversy that swirled around its production, Waterworld is a key cult film of the 1990s, and an essential entry into the subgenre of ecologically-minded blockbusters. Presented here in an exclusive new restoration, in three different cuts, and...

Earlier this week we got a great piece of poster art for Ready Player One created by the talented Paul Shipper. Today we have a series of seven character motion posters to share with you for the upcoming Steven Spielberg-directed film. These posters consist of Parzival (Tye Sheridan), Art3mis (Olivia Cooke), and Aech (Lena Waithe). They also include our best look yet at Daito (Win Morisaki), and Shoto (Philip Zhao). Also featured are Anorak (Mark Rylance) and Sorrento (Ben Mendelsohn).
The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the Oasis, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the Oasis, sparking a contest that grips the entire world.

Now this is the poster we should have gotten for Ready Player One instead of the one featuring Tye Sheridan's stupendous elastic legs. Warners Bros. have released a new poster for the Steven Spielberg film, illustrated by Paul Shipper, and much like the rest of the marketing surrounding Ready Player One, this poster is full of easter eggs, ranging from the DeLorean from Back To The Future... We've got a radical new poster for Steven Spielberg's film adaptation of Ernest Cline's Ready Player One! The poster was created by artist Paul Shipper and as you can see it pays homage to the classic movie poster art of the 80s that were created by legendary illustrator Drew Struzan.
The cool thing about this poster is that it's loaded with Easter eggs! For those of you familiar with Ready Player One, then you know all the Easter eggs that have been loaded into the marketing of this film makes perfect sense.
This poster is definitely a lot better than the first poster that was released that featured Wade Watts with a freaky long leg. Shipper shared the poster on Twitter, and he did such a great job with it! The poster came with the following note:
"So proud to now be able to share this with you all!

Due to bowing out of this summer’s Ant-Man, it’ll be over a four-year gap between Edgar Wright‘s The World’s End and his follow-up, Baby Driver, so to help with the wait, the director is offering up his least-seen film. If you’re in London or Los Angeles later next month, one can celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut A Fistful of Fingers.
Before we dive further into that, we do have a promising update on his new film. With Ansel Elgort, Lily James, and Jamie Foxx part of the cast of Baby Driver, we have another addition. The Wrap reports Mad Men star Jon Hamm has joined the project as a bank robber in a villainous gang. The story centers on a getaway driver who works for a dangerous crime boss, and music is heavily figured in, thanks to his personal soundtrack. Baby Driver will...

First there's the newly-commissioned artwork which comes courtesy of artist Paul Shipper (Halloween: The Complete Collection). Purists can rejoice too as the iconic original poster art with the beheaded Statue of Liberty will be included on the reverse wrap.
In terms of extra features those will be announced in full detail sometime in Feb. But the company says this 2-disc blu-ray set will exceed the previous DVD special edition in terms of number of features.
Last and not least they have created a brand new 2K High Definition scan of the inter-positive, struck from the original negative so it's going to be the definitive presentation of John Carpenter's classic film [Continued ...]...

Artist Paul Shipper has delivered some incredibly cool movie poster art over the years, many of which you can check out right here. We've also seen a lot of fan art for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, some of which you can see here and here. This stunning illustration that Shipper has come up with, though, is by far one of the best pieces of fan art that I've seen for the film. It kind of sucks that it won't be an official poster. I seriously want a print of this. ...

The Poster Posse’s collaboration with Disney continues apace with six new posters for Big Hero 6, and frankly, I think these are the best ones yet. Although, looking back on Phase 1 (here) and the Nycc exclusive poster (here), it's really hard to choose a favorite. I do love Sharm Murugiah’s variant edition and Luke Butland’s San Fransokyo travel poster, though. Butland explained his inspiration,
I instantly loved the world that Disney had created for Big Hero 6 And wanted to do something that showed it off, it seemed to me that the city of Sanfransokyo was a character all unto itself so I chose that as the focal point of my print. Drawing inspiration from the classic City Travel posters of the 50’s and 60’s. With this print I went in a completely different direction from my normal style, hopefully its worked out and I...

We've got a great piece of poster art created for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which comes from artist Paul Shipper. The poster was created for the Austin Film Society Texas premiere event. There will be a limited edition of 200 prints that will be on sale at The Paramount Theatre at the premiere of the film, which takes place on Wednesday, August 20th, 2014, with directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, as well as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, in attendance. The posters will cost $45.
I've also included a new behind the scenes featurette for the movie that focuses on the 3D aspect of the film. The movie was specifically made to be shown in 3D, so maybe this will be worth checking out in 3D. Thanks to /Film for the video.

The prequel to co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s 2005 visually groundbreaking film Sin City stars Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin and Eva Green and is scheduled for theatrical release this August. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For weaves together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel with a screenplay by Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed), will not only bring fans back to the world that Miller and Rodriguez created, but also add a new dimension by bringing their unique visual style to life in 3D. Artist Paul Shipper's Sin City: A Dame To...

“They came from everywhere. Millions of writhing, seething creatures, oozing out of the mire to feed on human flesh.” Known as burrowers of the ground, the electrocuted worms in 1976′s Squirm decide instead to excavate living people. Scream Factory recently announced that Squirm will be getting a high-definition upgrade just in time for Halloween, and we now have a look at the Blu-ray’s cover art.

This incredibly cool Guardians of the Galaxy poster art was created by Paul Shipper. This is so good that it looks like it could be an actual poster for the film. The studio marketing teams really needs to start getting artists like this to create the posters for their films. There are so many talented artist out there that it's sad most studios resort to simple, badly photoshopped posters. ...

We've featured plenty of cool artwork from the people at Mondo lately, from their Disney gallery to a special show from artists Martin Ansin and Kevin Tong. Now it's Hero Complex who has put together an awesome artwork collection in Los Angeles called King for a Day. And if you can't discern what the show might be honoring from the teaser image above, it features nothing but artwork paying tribute to the work of Stephen King. And since the author has seen many of his books turned into feature films like The Shawshank Redemption and The Shining, there's plenty of great stuff that cinephiles will love. Look! It, Carrie, The Shining and Misery by Eugene Kaik: The Works of Stephen King by Florey: The Mist by Dan Mumford: The Shawshank Redemption by Tom Miatke: Stand by Me by Sam Gilbey: The Shawshank Redemption by Paul Shipper: Misery by...

The storytelling of Stephen King has inspired all of us in one way or another, and his classic tales have conjured unforgettable images in just about every artistic medium. Case in point: a new exhibit entitled “King for a Day,” coming this week to L.A.'s Hero Complex Gallery, will feature some gorgeous King-themed works by artists and designers around the world who have drawn creative inspiration from the author's writing. The exhibit includes multiple submissions from from the so-called “Poster Posse,” including Robert Bruno, Nick Comparone, Patrick Connan, Harlan Elam, Florey, Chris Garofalo, Peter Gutierrez, Tom Miatke, David Moscati, Kaz Oomori, Adam Rabalais, Paul Shipper and Chris Skinner. "It's Your Cat Now" (Artist: Chris Garafolo) Pop Culture blog Blurppy.com recently published an in-depth study of several entries from the exhibit, including works in progress and commentary by the artists involved. Everything in Hollywood has a story, but to pop culture nerds, perhaps no story is more interesting than the one surrounding the controversy behind acclaimed writer Harlan Ellison and his popular Star Trek tale, “The City on the Edge of Forever.”
Ellison wrote the original teleplay for the penultimate episode of the first season in early 1966, which he notes, “was changed vastly when the episode aired” on April 6, 1967. “The City on the Edge of Forever” focuses on the USS Enterprise discovering a portal through space and time, which ultimately leads to an accidental altering of history that Kirk and Spock,...

This is great news on all sorts of levels. Today Idw has announced that it will be releasing a new miniseries based on Harlan Ellison‘s screenplay of Star Trek original series episode “City on the Edge of Forever,” with cover art by Juan Ortiz.
So let’s break this down a little. First, new Star Trek comic miniseries, excellent. That it’s based on the screenplay for the episode where Kirk, Spock, and Bones end up in the U.S. in the 1930′s, excellent. That it’s based on the original screenplay that few have ever seen, which won Hugo and Writer’s Guild of America awards and which was written by Harlan Ellison (The Twilight Zone, Tales From the Darkside, Babylon 5, The Outer Limits, etc., etc.) and it is being developed with his approval and input, even more excellent.
And finally, that it will feature covers by Juan Ortiz,...

Keanu Reeves' 47 Ronin looks like it's going to be a very cool fantasy-martial-arts-action film. In anticipation of the film's release, Blurppy is back with an awesome new collection of fan-made poster art for it. The posters come from several different artists, including Linda Hordijk, , Chris Skinner, Salvador Anguiano, John Hughes, Berkay Daglar, Doaly, Samuel Ho, Matt Needle, Rich Davies, Paul Ainsworth, Matt Ferguson, Mat Weller, Juan Hugo Martinez, Joe Vetoe, Khoa Ho, Chris Garofalo, and Paul Shipper.
From ancient Japan’s most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure “47 Ronin” is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 Ronin. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors.

"We cross and re-cross our old paths like figure-skaters." Whoa! Even a year later, I am still preaching high praise for Tom Tykwer & The Wachowskis' Cloud Atlas, which I've watched multiple times on Blu-Ray since it was released. The film is slowly earning a cult following and the best part of that kind of following means that we're starting to see some incredible artwork for the film. Earlier this summer I bought a Cloud Atlas print by Alex Tuis from Bottleneck, one of the first prints I've ever seen for this movie. Now one of our favorite artists, Paul Shipper, has created a nice trilogy of posters for an upcoming Hero Complex Gallery show. Beyond the Marquee posted the gorgeous prints online for our viewing pleasure. See all three below. Check out this great Dredd 3D illustration created by Paul Shipper. Unfortunately, Dredd 3D isn't doing very well at the box office, which means we'll probably never get to see that sequel. It's a shame! The movie just didn't seem to interest the general audience, and all of us fanboys who were excited about it just weren't enough to give the movie what it needed to be successful. If you haven't seen the movie yet, please make sure to go and check it out! You won't be disappointed!
