It’s impressive that despite the massive success of Jaws making its bite mark on pop culture back in 1975, many movies have unapologetically attempted to follow in its footsteps to this very day. One of those films is the 2017 movie 47 Meters Down, which spawned a sequel in 2019, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. A third movie in the series is now set to swim ashore as 47 Meters Down: The Wreck will be launching its sales campaign at the Cannes Market. Johannes Roberts and screenwriter Ernest Riera return to co-write this new installment, which will be directed by veteran horror director Patrick Lussier, whose credits include My Bloody Valentine.
The plot synopsis for the third entry, per Deadline, reads,
“The story will follow a father who is determined to rebuild his relationship with his daughter as they bond during a scuba dive in beautiful tropical waters while exploring a famous shipwreck. But soon after their descent,...

Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group expanded its board of directors from the original trio to a new total of nine board members, effective immediately.
The board of Allen Media (originally called Entertainment Studios when it was founded in 1993) has comprised founder, chairman and CEO Byron Allen, film producer Carolyn Folks (Allen’s mother) and chief operating officer Terence Hill.
Allen Media Group’s six newly added board of directors are each senior members of the company’s management team: Janice Arouh; Mark DeVitre; Eric Gould (EVP of finance and chief investment officer); Sydnie Karras; Chris Malone (CFO); and Andy Temple.
The announcement of Amg’s upsized board comes after Allen this week contacted Paramount Global’s senior management and board with a $3.5 billion offer to buy BET Media Group — which, if consummated, would significantly expand Allen’s media holdings.

Director Johannes Roberts’ shark thriller 47 Meters Down was almost a straight-to-video release, but when it went theatrical instead it turned out to be a surprise hit, pulling in over 62 million at the global box office. Johannes Roberts is heading back into shark-infested waters with The Red Triangle, a brand new movie announced by Deadline today.
Deadline details, “[The] big-budget theatrical feature is set in Northern California — famous for its gorgeous beaches, but also known for a particular stretch of ocean that has a bloody reputation — The Red Triangle. Stretching south from Bodega Bay toward San Francisco and jutting out beyond the Farallon Islands and down to Big Sur south of Monterey, the Triangle encompasses around 200 miles of coastline, and is the site of almost half of all recorded great white shark attacks in the United States.”
In the film, “When a cruise ship — a massive, floating, fully stocked resort with thousands of passengers — begins to sink in The Red Triangle, the feeding frenzy begins.”
For Allen Media Group Motion Pictures, Johannes Roberts will direct from his own script, with Tea Shop Productions’ James Harris and Mark Lane producing.

To truly understand how Byron Allen, the guy from “Real People,” became Byron Allen the media mogul that owns the Weather Channel, you have to hear his story about the courtroom set that needed a home.
The CEO and president of Entertainment Studios, one of the largest distributors and independent producers of first-run syndicated programming in the world, was in the process creating his JusticeCentral.tv network on Verizon Fios when he called his set designer, who informed Allen a big studio had canceled a court show and was going to throw away the program’s $500,000 set.

After buying MGM in 1986, legendary media mogul Ted Turner marveled that go-go media moguls are celebrated for being so rich, while their bankers constantly remind them that they owe a fortune.
“That’s exactly right,” chuckles Byron Allen of the parallels to his company Entertainment Studios, founded 25 years ago as Cf Entertainment. “And Ted’s one of my heroes.”
The standup comic-turned-Hollywood entrepreneur has built his privately owned company into a sizable entertainment enterprise with 650 employees. His burgeoning empire spans basic cable TV networks, over-the-top video streaming channels, motion pictures, TV production/syndication and digital media.
Two events in the past year provided transformative leaps: Allen acquired basic cable network the Weather Channel in March for a reported $300 million, and then lined up a $500 million credit line in September that can fuel more expansion. It is estimated that adding the Weather Channel lifted Entertainment Studios — solely owned by Allen — to about $600 million in annualized revenue.
