Robert California was one of the few characters on "The Office" that fans seem to either love or hate. The workplace sitcom is filled with "people we know," and several of us have dealt with prickly co-workers similar to Angela (Angela Martin) or people like Stanley (Leslie David Baker), who hate their jobs and live for pretzel day. Many of us have also rooted for obvious workplace romances like Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer).
But Robert California? One of these things is not like the other, as few of us have likely crossed paths with anyone like him. And for that, we can blame Michael Scott (of course we can). When Steve Carell left "The Office" after seven seasons, it left a gaping hole in the cast, and the show would eventually turn to James Spader as the new boss to fill the tremendous void Michael left. Exclusive: Actor and producer Karrie Martin Lachney signed with Paradigm for representation in all areas.
Lachney made a splash with her portrayal of Ana Morales in the Netflix dramedy Gentefied, created by Linda Yvette Chávez and Marvin Lemus. The series followed a multigenerational, Mexican American family living and loving in Los Angeles, co-starring Joaquin Cosio, J.J. Soria, and Carlos Santos. It ran for two seasons before it was canceled in January.
Lachney’s portrayal of Ana represented experiences that mirror that of many second-generation Latinos whose parents sacrificed everything in search of the American dream— a point of view rarely shown on television.
Ana had to prioritize her familial responsibilities while still a young woman herself over her own dreams and desires. She was challenged at every corner with having to choose between an upcoming art show opportunity, spending time with her girlfriend, and being a support to her...

Exclusive: Netflix has opted not to renew half-hour Latinx dramedy Gentefied for a third season. The decision comes two months after the release of show’s second season on November 10.
The show never appeared in the Netflix Top 10 with the new season, which likely played a part in Netflix’s cancellation decision, which typically factors in cost, viewership and critical acclaim.
Gentefied, from creators Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, follows East Los Angeles Latinos on their respective and collective search for the American Dream. Season 2 tackles Erik Morales (JJ Soria) and his cousin Chris’s (Carlos Santos) struggle to keep Pops (Joaquin Cosio) in the country while dealing with new love, new babies, estranged fathers and tracking down Bad Bunny at a Halloween party. They fight to thrive, but along the way question where they truly belong in a world made up of borders, family separation, and the potential...

Mindy Kaling was a writer on “The Office” from the show’s start, in addition to appearing on camera as Dunder Mifflin staffer Kelly Kapoor. But in a recent interview with Elle magazine, Kaling said that she had to fight to be initially be included among the producers listed by the Television Academy for the show.

Beatlemania is sweeping the U.S. once more: Deadline reports that NBC is developing a new series about the Fab Four.

With Rosemary’s Baby, the Bible follow-up A.D, and its live-production of The Sound Of Music, NBC has been making great strides into the arena of event programming. Now, that strategy looks set to continue with the development of an eight episode show about The Beatles.
The limited event series is coming from the team that delivered the highly successful show The Tudors – which ran from 2007-2010, and kicked the careers of stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Henry Cavill and Natalie Dormer into high gear. The Tudors creator Michael Hirst will write the Beatles show, while powerhouse executives Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg will executive produce, hoping to recreate the phenomenal response met by their look at Henry VIII’s reign. NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt unites the team, having originally greenlit The Tudors when he headed up Showtime.

Are The Beatles bigger than the Bible? NBC is looking to find out -- Deadline is reporting that the network is in development on an eight-episode event series based on The Beatles. "The Tudors" creator and executive producer Michael Hirst is currently writing the program, with Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg set to executive produce. Both worked with him on the Showtime drama. NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt gave "The Tudors" the green light when he was overseeing Showtime. NBC has been pushing "event TV" with varying levels of success. The live staging of "The Sound of Music" was a major hit, while the remake of "Rosemary's Baby" was met with poor reviews and far from overwhelming ratings. Greenblatt also gave the go-ahead to Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's follow up to the high-rated History Channel miniseries "The Bible," titled "A.D." The 12-part miniseries is supposed to air in the spring of next year.
