With Sharknado 5 making a splash on TV screens across the globe these past few weeks, what better time to visit the world of The Asylum? With a myriad of films under their belt, from their beginnings as king of the mockbuster to their foray into original film making, it’s no secret we’re big fans of these bastions of the direct to DVD market and have reviewed a Lot of their output! With that in mind, here’s my pick of the Top 5 (because it’s Sharknado Five… geddit?!?) movies from The Asylum in – shock, horror – order of preference…

The problem with found footage movies is sometimes, instead of pulling the audience closer into the action, we end up thinking that the person behind the camera is just an idiot who should have dropped it and run for his life when things got dangerous. However their are rare occassions where you can just enjoy being taken along for the ride… As is the case with Digging Up the Marrow.
Playing himself Adam Green films a documentary about a man, William Dekker (Ray Wise) who contacts him promising proof of the existence of monsters in the world. Taking Will Barratt along with him as camera man he interviews Dekker about the claims, agreeing to investigate the claims.

Meghan Trainor’s song "All About That Bass" is so catchy and addicting to listen to. Nerdist presents a Team Unicorn music video parody that mixes in Star Wars references called "All About That Base: No Rebels."
Team Unicorn is not the first to make a Star Wars parody using that hook. Youtube user Liminal Jay created a music video parody three days before Halloween. Team Unicorn did a much better job in my opinion in terms of lyrics, dancing, costumes, and references to both the original music video and Star Wars.
Details about the music video via Nerdist:
Meghan Trainor’s sassy “All About That Bass” has taken a trip to the galaxy far, far away in our latest Nerdist Presents: a new Team Unicorn music video! The Unicorns have dressed in Empire attire, brought in dancing stormtroopers and astromechs, added some Darth Sidious, and made the popular song an Imperial anthem.

Tagline: "Just because you haven't seen them, doesn't mean they aren't there." Adam Green of Hatchet (2006) fame is set to release his upcoming horror feature, Digging Up the Marrow, at London's Frightfest. The film deals with monsters, who live hidden in a nearby universe. This title will show at this film festival August 23rd. As well, the film stars Green himself, along with Ray Wise, Will Barratt and Rileah Vanderbilt. The official Frightfest poster for the film is hosted here. Part fantasy and part drama, the film is shot as a documentary. A mysterious man contacts a documentary crew, with proof of monsters. This duo seeks out a hidden entrance, which leads to a new world. And, something malicious lives just past the threshold. The official poster reveals one of the film's monsters. The creature effects are previewed here as the creature looms behind broken teeth and a grizzled face.

A lot of really amazing Wonder Woman cosplay came out over the last year and 2/3 of this collection is completely new.
The costume is iconic and very hard to pull off well. First of all, parts of the costume are metal. Along with that, it's extremely form fitting, and just like Superman you either meet the physical requirements or you don't. Whether she's a symbol of female empowerment or the exact opposite is debatable. One thing for sure is you don't mess with Diana of Themyscira.
If you've got good cosplay or think I missed something, send it our way.

Playing around with lightsabers has always been fun! Back in the day my friends and I would go out and film our own lightsaber fight sequences that GeekTyrant's Free Reyes would edit together. Then he would painstakingly make our toy lightsabers real, one frame at a time.
Nerdist has filmed a few fun lightsaber duels over the years, and they've released another fun short called "Revenge of the Threesome." In the middle of shooting a Star Wars action figure commercial, the three women who are playing with the toys behind-the-scenes end up getting into a crazy lightsaber battle.

Show creator and star Adam Green talked about his love for the "Holliston" series. "It's my favorite thing I've ever done," Green said. "It's my best work to date, and I think a lot of the people involved in the show would say the same thing. If you like Season 1, I think Season 2 really blows it away. I think with any sitcom the second season is usually considered to be funnier and better than the first, mainly because you know the characters, you know the world, you know the tone. And...

The final film in the trilogy, Hatchet 3 loses the series’ director, Adam Green, replacing him with Bj McDonnell, who has previously carved out a career as cam/steadicam operator on a ton of movies – including one of my all-time favourite flicks, How to Rob a Bank. However all is not lost as Green is still on board as the films guiding light and scriptwriter for this tale which picks up immediately where the second film left off.
In Hatchet 3 our heroine Marybeth (Harris) has finally “killed” Victor Crowley (Hodder) – or so she thinks. When she shows up at the police station covered in blood the sheriff (Galligan) doesn’t believe her story and locks her up while he sends a search and recovery...

It's that time of year where horror sites and fans present their Best Horror Films of 2013 lists. For some reason I've typically steered clear of top lists in the past. I think it's mostly because of the constant whining and bellyaching that occurs once lists are released. Plus there will inevitably be good films that didn't make the list. However, mostly it's the constant cries of "That wasn't a horror movie that was a thriller stupid!" or "That movie released last year dummy!" or "There are too many mainstream releases here losers!" or my personal favorite "That film totally sucked so you guys suck!", that really get to me.
This year I decided to go ahead and make a MoreHorror Top 20 Horror Films of 2013 list because a lot of people seem interested in our take. Yes there are some mainstream Hollywood films on the list,...

Batman and Superman have seen various iterations on the big screen, but for some reason, Warner Bros. hasn't been able to bring the DC Comics heroine Wonder Woman to the feature film world. While the once thriving superhero found success on the small screen decades ago, the most recent attempt was a failure, and producers can't seem to figure out how to bring the character to life again. Well, one more attempt to drum up interest and at least give fans something to enjoy comes from Sam Balcomb, who spent most of this year putting together fanmade trailer that isn't amazing, but it may strike the right tone. Here's Sam Balcomb's Wonder Woman trailer, via ScreenCrush: Sadly, Balcomb went with finding a pretty face (Rileah Vanderbilt) to get into the suit rather than an actress who knows how to pull off action or any semblance of acting, and it shows in the trailer.

We survived the 2011 Wonder Woman pilot — written by David E. Kelley, starring Adrianne Palicki in the title role — that never aired, and since then DC fans of the Amazonian princess have been wondering what's next for their heroine in the realm of film and television. The folks at Rainfall Films have filled in the blanks with their interpretation via a 300-style Wonder Woman short. It's graceful, atmospheric and very Zack Snyder-esque, with plenty of moody, slo-mo/fast-mo action. Kudos to Hatchet actress Rileah Vanderbilt for a fairly strong portrayal. We definitely like her look more than Palicki's painted-on jeans. "Whether you like, or dislike, our live action interpretation of Diana of Themyscira, Wonder Woman, born of clay, I think...

One name is conspicuously missing from this fall’s roster of superhero-centric TV shows and films: Wonder Woman. Despite having featured other DC Comic heros in cinematic form, Warner Brothers has not yet made a film that showcased this superheroine in all her butt-kicking, name-taking splendor. The studio has often stated that it would be too “difficult” to make a movie about Wonder Woman, io9 reports. However, Sam Balcomb of Rainfall Films has recently created a Wonder Woman short that proves that a full-length feature could be within the realm of the do-able. The short stars Rileah Vanderbilt, an actress with...

This incredibly cool short film from Rainfall Films has got us chomping at the bit for a full-fledged "Wonder Woman" movie.
Actress Rileah Vanderbilt ("Hatchet," "Frozen,") plays the badass Amazon who fights crime on the streets and monsters in the skies alongside her equally tough sisters from Themyscira.
In an interview with Jenna Busch at Fan Voice, Vanderbilt said, "The reason I'm such a huge Wonder Woman fan, is that I feel like Diana is such a perfect balance of strength, beauty, and venerability...that's what really makes this character work and is sadly why I feel like it's been so hard to accurately represent her so far in mainstream media."
Vanderbilt also blogged about her experience on the short film. She wrote about how disappointing most modern attempts to bring Wonder Woman to the small screen have been, the physical training she went through for the role, doing her own stunts,...

Firstly, thanks for watching. Whether you like, or dislike, our live action interpretation of Diana of Themyscira, Wonder Woman, born of clay, I think (quite a few of) you will agree she is a character just as vital and crucial to our understanding of humanity as any other superhero... if not more so. We spent the majority of 2013 working on this -- the look, the feel, the aspects we most wanted to portray. It's a scant two and half minutes, but in the end, it's one hundred and fifty seconds of pure fantasy, where I get to consider the two sides of my favorite warrior: a crusader in man's world, and a paragon of virtue told through Greek mythology. It's a fun world to hang out in. I hope you enjoy it. - Sam The trailer stars Rileah Vanderbilt, Clare Grant, Alicia Marie, America Young, Kimi Hughesa and Christy Hauptman.

Being a fan of comedic slasher films, the Hatchet series is something I am very fond of. Regardless of which one "is the better one". Frankly, it is irrelevant to me due simply to the fact that it's never taking itself too seriously in any of them.
With the title Hatchet, 1, 2, or 3 you simply know what you're in for when you press play. Hatchet 3 however, is the most serious one of them all. Its a gore pizza with a dash of cheese.
Following Marybeth back into the swamp, starting directly after the second film, it has the same formula as its predecessor. The trilogy actually seems more like one big film, as each one of them follows exactly where the last left off. With a new Director, Cameraman Bj McDonnell from the first two grabs the helming reigns for the third and final installment. It's...

The final(?) film in the trilogy, Hatchet III loses the series’ director, Adam Green, replacing him with Bj McDonnell, who has previously carved out a career as cam/steadicam operator on a ton of movies – including one of my all-time favourite flicks, How to Rob a Bank. However all is not lost as Green is still on board as the films guiding light and scriptwriter for this tale which picks up immediately where the second film left off.
In Hatchet III our heroine Marybeth (Harris) has finally “killed” Victor Crowley (Hodder) – or so she thinks. When she shows up at the police station covered in blood the sheriff (Galligan) doesn’t believe her story and locks her up while he sends a search...

Adam Green's landmark franchise, Hatchet, has been controversial among horror fans since its debut in 2006. While some panned it as a rip-off of Friday the 13th and accused Green of being an overzealous fanboy hack, other fans bonded together to form a fiercely loyal fan club called The Hatchet Army who devour everything related to the series. These fans helped launch Hatchet into the stratosphere and ensured not only one sequel, but two.
Now, we have Hatchet III, the denouement of the trilogy conceived by an 8-year-old Green, wrapping up the arc of this particular storyline and coming across as little more than a gore-soaked love letter to the fans. Green stepped down as the director for the final episode of the franchise,...

Today we rolled out a new installment of Jennifer Shiman's hilarious 30-Second Bunnies Theatre animated series, this one made exclusively for FEARnet.com. But that's just the beginning of what we've got lined up for you in 2013. Not only is Shiman producing several more episodes just for us, we've also got a massive lineup of over thirty new entries for our shorts collection, hailing from filmmakers all over the globe.
Shiman first began animating the Bunnies shorts in 2004 with a dead-on Exorcist parody, which became a runaway online hit and a horror fan favorite. “The Exorcist is one of my favorite horror movies,” she explains, “and I always had an interest in cartoons and animation. The idea of bunnies came about because I wanted to find a character that would lend itself to a short film synopsis.” The rest is viral video history, and now she's bringing her creations...

Dread Central favorite Danielle Harris took to her website today to publish some cool Hatchet 3 behind-the-scenes pictures of her bloodied and covered with grue. Yep, that's all we wanted for Christmas. Check out the shots right now along with yesterday's video!
Hatchet 3 stars Danielle Harris, Kane Hodder, Derek Mears, Cody Blue Snider, Zach Galligan, Rileah Vanderbilt, Caroline Williams, Diane Goldner, Jason Trost, and Sean Whalen.
Hatchet 3 opens on the ultraviolent final shot of Hatchet 2 and continues the tale of the now iconic slasher villain Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). As a search and recovery team heads into the haunted swamp to pick up the pieces and carnage left behind from the first two films, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) hunts down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left the ghost of Victor Crowley haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.
The sequel is a co-production of Mpi/Dark Sky Films...

Filming of Hatchet 3 is wrapping soon down in the Big Easy, and recently a few of the folks behind this blood-soaked juggernaut--namely Jedi master Adam Green, director Bj McDonnell, and producer Sarah Elbert--showed up on TV to dish the swampy dirt!
Louisiana's FOX8 visited the set on Friday and got the first behind-the-scenes footage from the film, which features a quick shot of a very bloody Danielle Harris in the police station.
