Hannah Waddingham, who broke out as the tough-as-nails but complicated football club owner on Ted Lasso, has joined the high-flying cast of Ryan Gosling’s adventure feature, The Fall Guy.
The actress joins Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu and Winston Duke on the call sheet for the Universal movie, which is inspired by the 1980s television series. Bullet Train director David Leitch is helming the action extravaganza, which is now shooting in Australia.
In a switch from the original 1980s show that starred Lee Majors, the story doesn’t focus on a stuntman with a side hustle as a bounty hunter. Instead, the script by Drew Pearce focuses on a battered and past-his-prime stuntman (Gosling) who finds himself back on a movie with the star (Taylor-Johnson) for whom he doubled long ago and who replaced him. The wrinkle, however, is that the star has gone missing.

The wrinkle, however, is that the star has gone missing.
Hsu will play the assistant to the movie star, who is being played by Taylor-Johnson.
Stephanie Hsu, who had a breakout performance as Michelle Yeoh’s daughter in Everything Everywhere All at Once, has joined Ryan Gosling in The Fall Guy, Universal’s big-screen take on the 1980s adventure television series.
Emily Blunt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are already on the call sheet for the action piece, which is being helmed by Bullet Train director David Leitch.
In a switch from the original 1980s show that starred Lee Majors, the story doesn’t focus on a stuntman with a side hustle as a bounty hunter. Instead, the script by Drew Pearce focuses on a battered and past-his-prime stuntman (Gosling) who finds himself back on a movie with the star for whom he doubled long ago and who replaced him. The wrinkle, however, is that the star has gone missing.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to star opposite Ryan Gosling in “The Fall Guy” film adaptation for Universal, according to an individual with knowledge of the project. Emily Blunt is also attached to star.
“Hobbs & Shaw” filmmaker David Leitch is directing the project, which Universal acquired as a package in an auction. The feature film is inspired by the classic 1980s series of the same name created by Glen A. Larson.
Leitch, a stuntman-turned-director who got his start as an un-credited director on the original “John Wick,” most recently directed the action film “Bullet Train” at Sony starring Brad Pitt, which also starred Taylor-Johnson.

David Leitch, who directed Bullet Train, is helming the action piece, which will also star Emily Blunt.
Fall Guy was created by Glen A. Larson, the prolific TV producer whose output ranged from Battlestar Galactica to Magnum P.I., and starred Lee Majors as a Hollywood stuntman who, to make ends meet, has a side hustle as a bounty hunter. The show ran on ABC from 1981 to 1986.
The feature project is jettisoning the side hustle and keeping the name and stunts, with Gosling playing a battered and past-his-prime stuntman who finds himself back on a movie with the star he worked with long ago and who replaced him. The problem, however, is that the star is now missing.

David Harbour of Stranger Things and Black Widow plays Santa Claus in Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola’s R-rated holiday thriller Violent Night, which is set to reach theatres on December 2nd. Our own Chris Bumbray got to see a “demented” trailer for the movie at CinemaCon back in April, and while that trailer still hasn’t made its way online, a bit of promotion has finally arrived.
