“When I first met Raju sir and introduced myself, he said, ‘I know you, Komal. I have seen your audition and we really liked it.’ It was a very pleasant surprise as someone like him who would have seen so many auditions for so many characters remembered my particular audition,” she said.
Komal, who was recently seen in Shilpa Shetty-starrer ‘Sukhee’, started her acting journey with theatre in Delhi with Dinesh Khanna, a professor at National School of Drama.

Badhaai Ho
Starring Gajaraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Ayushmaan Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Surekha Sikri
Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma
Stop right now and do yourself a favour. Go see Badhaai Ho. You will come out smling but also deeply moved by the artless charm of that great big universe known as the Indian Muddle Class, and I do mean ‘muddle’ where so many contradictory cultural, religious and political forces co-exist uneasily and yet without friction.
Some such controlled chaos defines the world that the Kaushik family inhabits with such fluent ownership. We’ve seen an abundance of commendable comedies on the Delhi’s confounded middleclass such as Dibakar Bannerjee’s Khosla Ka Ghosla and Habib Faisal’s Do Dooni Chaar. But none so delectably oblivious of its responsibilities of pinning down the characters to their cultural canvas.
We meet the family….rather we run into them as though their existence does not depend on our attention.

Qaidi Band
Starring Aadar Jain, Anya Singh
Written & Directed by Habib Faisal
Just days before I saw the very real and gripping Qaidi Band, a vegetable seller in my locality whom I saw regularly on the street, disappeared. When I asked his wife about him she said he had been taken to jail after getting in a street brawl where he tried to save a friend from a knife attack. Now, sobbed the wife, they can’t afford a lawyer who can bail him out.
Blessedly in Qaidi Band there is a hotshot lawyer played by Ram Kapoor, who agrees to help innocent undertrials free of cost. Such miracles don’t happen in real life. But when they do in this film we sigh in relief.
In Habib Faisal’s fast-flowing anthem to imprisoned angst Sanju (played with bridled vigour by debutant Aadar Jain) tells Bindu (Anya Singh, a prized...

We have a brand new song from Yrf’s Qaidi Band. ‘Junooni’, a rock ballad, captures the passion within of these young, vulnerable under trails as they come together to form a band and a bond despite their circumstances. Like the, resonant lyrics and passionate vocals reflect, and as does the word Junooni, Junooni is a passion for music, for freedom and a latent, understated passion for each other that is just evolving. The video shows the innocent chemistry evolving between these two debutants- namely Aadar Jain and Anya Singh. As well as the friendship and bandship that forms between the 7 prisoners. Junooni takes the narrative of Qaidi Band forward ringing with optimism and a setting for perhaps a prem kahani to bloom behind bars.
For hearts that love, eyes that dream and people who are #Junooni
The melodious track with a rockin tinge has been sung by Arijit Singh...

Aadar Jain and Anya Singh certainly made impact in the intense trailer of Yash Raj Films’ Qaidi Band. As under trials seeking freedom with their music and the unusual band within the four walls of a prison, their story is about seeking and struggling to find freedom. The new song, Hulchul, from the film, captures the pain that their struggle for freedom ensues beautifully.
Sung by Arijit Singh and Yashita Sharma to Amit Trivedi’s music and lyrics by Kausar Munir, both Aadar Jain and Anya Singh bring alive the trauma of their characters brilliantly. Hulchul, a song that prison inmates in the film find moving, will also move audiences with its intense tone and powerful lyrics.
A hope. A dream. A movement. Feel it rise within you with the song #Hulchul from ‘Qaidi Band’.
Directed by Habib Faisal, Yrf’s Qaidi Band releases on August 25th across India.

Welcome home, Shah Rukh. What a triumphant return to form for an actor whose career has been lately beleaguered by sub-standard scripts and mediocre directors. This time Shah Rukh is in the mood to kill….And we don’t mean that just as a metaphor. As this far-from-frothy take on the very complex star-fan relationships develops into a ominous cat-and-mouse chase, Shah Rukh grips both the characters—yes, for those who came in late he plays both the star and the fan—in a firm grasp that makes us …simply gasp.
Shah Rukh is in full command of both the characters. He gives both Aryan and Gaurav ample room to grow, grow apart and then clash in ways that shows what skilful scripting can do to a superstar’s yearning to excel.

At a panel discussion at Ficci Frames 2015, Arjun Kapoor stressed on paying film writers more.
"Writers should get paid more for sure. If a film does 100 crore and if you pay a writer 1%, it is still nothing. We don't do that and that's the sad part," said Arjun.
He further added, "We should inculcate more writing. The problem inherently lies in our writing. There aren't enough writers. Most writers aspire to become directors because they feel nobody has the vision to fulfil their scripts. There are many such examples. Habib Faisal, Tigmanshu Dhulia are all writer-directors now."
Well, we hope the industry is listening. It's high time we got more good scripts which would perhaps result in more films doing well.

Bollywood churns out on average 120 plus films a year, with 2014 reaching 142. So to think all of them will go down in history as being successful is rather naive. But what about the ones we thought would work wonders but came up short? The ones that left us thinking, “Why was this allowed past the editing board”? Even ones that somehow managed to cha-ching the money registers sky high. 2014 had its fair share of films that fit all these categories. BollySpice brings you the biggest disappointments of 2014.

He has an eye for detail, keeps it real and brings to the screen the India we seldom see in our cinema. That is Habib Faisal for you. His latest outing promised to be a tale driven by the creative cuisines of our fine nation. However what starts of as a promising film about love, life and food soon turns into a two hour too-long tedious journey that you cannot wait to finish.
Unexplainably Us obsessed Gulrez Qadir aka Gullu (Parineeti Chopra) thinks that the so-called land of her dreams is what she needs to become a successful shoe designer. But for her father (Anupam Kher) the only dream he has is to find a nice boy for his daughter so he can marry her off to and finally be rid of his fatherly duties. So he lines up boy after boy to meet his Mba graduate daughter which she of course effortlessly drives away.

Gastronomic love stories are a rarity in Bollywood and Daawat-e-Ishq is one of those rare films on the subject, with the film’s lead actress, Parineeti Chopra, describing it as a full on celebration of food and love. Praising the plot, she says, “Though food plays an important part in Daawat-e-Ishq, it is at the end of the day a love story. Daawat-e-Ishq is a celebration of love and food, love for food, love over food.”
Explaining why we don’t tend to see many Indian films on the subject of food she adds, “It all happens in good time. We can’t have films about food just for the heck of it. There has to be a proper story to tell because it stretches to a two-and-a-half-hour of playing time. Though food plays an important part in Daawat-e-Ishq, it is at the end of the day a love story.

If you are finding Aditya Roy Kapur to be a tad bulkier when compared to his Aashiqui 2 days, there is a reason behind that. From playing an alcoholic in the Mohit Suri film, a part which required him to turn weaker with every passing episode, it was a much happier environment that he found himself in during the making of Habib Faisal's Daawat-e-Ishq. Reason being that he is playing the role of a chef, something which by default brought him much closer to food than ever before.
Confirms a close associate of the actor, "Yes, he has put on 8 kgs during the making of the film and that too in a very quick time. In fact he never even got an opportunity to get rid of any weight whatsoever since there are many scenes in the film that require him to eat. At times, he was even eating...

Parineeti Chopra is an ardent fan of Saif Ali Khan and when she was offered a film opposite her favourite actor, she readily jumped at the opportunity. However, Parineeti may be disappointed to hear that her film with Saif Ali Khan has been currently put on hold. The film in question was also the directorial debut of Saif's business partner (Illuminati Films) Dinesh Vijan, however, now the production house has decided to wait before the film goes on floors. The reason is that Saif Ali Khan is currently busy with other Bollywood commitments. In fact, during the auspicious occasion of Eid, Saif ended up working for his upcoming film in London instead of spending it with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan. With the actor juggling between many films, Saif Ali Khan revealed that his film is currently on hold. Saif Ali Khan is currently shooting for Kabir Khan's Phantom...
