Claire Foy and Richard E. Grant are set to lead a new period drama directed by Peter Glanz.
Titled “Savage House,” the eighteenth century black comedy also stars Bel Powley (“A Small Light”) and Jack Farthing (“The Lost Daughter”).
Kila Lord Cassidy (“The Wonder”), Richard McCabe (“Napoleon”), Vicki Pepperdine (“Poor Things”) and Pip Torrens (“The Iron Lady”) round out the cast. The film recently wrapped in the U.K.
“Set against the backdrop of eighteenth century England, a massive pox outbreak, and Jacobite uprising – this is a timely and darkly satirical story of Sir Chauncey Savage (Grant) and Lady Savage (Foy) and their blind pursuit of a better life,” reads the logline. “It is not without a tinge of irony that their family name is the Savages, for this is a Savage House indeed. Filled with duels, decadence, and bloodshed, this is a madcap play on class and power.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus gets a fantastical visitor while caring for her ailing daughter in the first trailer for the A24 drama Tuesday.
A24 released the trailer Thursday for Daina Oniunas-Pusic’s feature, which does not yet have an announced release date. Tuesday centers on Zora (Louis-Dreyfus) and her terminally ill daughter, Tuesday (Lola Petticrew), who meet Death in the form of a talking and size-shifting bird voiced by Arinzé Kene.
“Madam, you need to say goodbye to your daughter,” Death says calmly in the footage. “Life — every life — ends.”
Later, Zora has trouble coming to terms with saying goodbye. “I don’t know what I am without you, who I am without you,” she tells Tuesday. “I don’t know what the world is without you in it.”
Oniunas-Pusic wrote and directed Tuesday, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in September. Helen Gladders, Ivana MacKinnon and Oliver Roskill serve as producers.

A24 has released a trailer for its upcoming emotional drama, “Tuesday,” which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) and Lola Petticrew.
The film premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on Sept. 1 and is expected to release sometime this summer.
Louis-Dreyfus plays a loving, caring mother to a terminally ill teenage daughter (Petticrew). The two have a powerful bond, and early scenes of the “Tuesday” trailer show how they’ve embraced their circumstances with joy and humor, undaunted by the looming specter of death.
That changes when the daughter is literally confronted by death manifested in the form of a talking bird. As the story unfolds, the mother must learn to make her peace with and accept the brevity of her daughter’s time on Earth in an emotionally devastating drama about the echoes of loss and finding resilience in the unexpected.
Rounding out the cast is British actor and playwright Arinzé Kene.

Tuesday is a fairy tale with some very real-world consequences.
The latest A24 collaboration with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, after her superb comedy You Hurt My Feelings premiered at Sundance early in 2023, has just had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend, and for Louis-Dreyfus admirers it just may be a revelation. The star, who has won a boatload of Emmys for comedy including a historic achievement for Lead Actress in three separate comedy series and who was also excellent in the Kenya Barris comedy You People this spring, shows she is just as talented tackling a highly emotional and unusual dramatic role.
Tuesday also marks a stunning writing and directorial feature debut for Croatian filmmaker Daina O. Pusic, who in wanting to make a movie dealing with loss and death has turned it all into a bit of a fairy tale involving a macaw who it turns out is the face of death.

HBO has released the official teaser trailer for “Run,” its upcoming romantic-comedy thriller, executive-produced by jack-of-all-trades Phoebe Waller-Bridge. You can check out the trailer below.
“Run” stars Primetime Emmy Award winner Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson as Ruby and Billy, college exes who reconnect as the result of a pact they made 17 years prior as students: If either one of them texted the word “Run” and the other replied the same, they would drop everything to meet at Grand Central Station and travel across the United States together.
As the trailer reveals, Billy is the one who initiates the “Run” protocol, but Ruby replies “Run” right back — even though she has a life waiting for her in the suburbs. With barely any possessions in tow, Ruby and Billy decide embrace the “carpe diem” mentality and choose to live in the moment — together, as exes. Because that always works out. With little over a month to go until the big night, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts has unveiled the 2017 BAFTA nominations, and it’s Damien Chazelle’s La La Land that leads the charge.
Following its historic turn at last weekend’s Golden Globes ceremony – Chazelle’s old-timey musical walked away with seven wins, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor/Actress gongs for Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone – La La Land continues its strong run in this year’s awards season with BAFTA nominations in all of the major categories.
For Best Film, it’ll be competing against Arrival, Manchester By the Sea and Moonlight – three formidable and worthy opponents that have collected scores of nominations between them – along with I, Daniel Blake, Ken Loach’s profound and perceptive portrayal of unemployment and its subsequent stigma in northerly England. Wait a second. Can the U.K. submit a film for consideration for the Best Foreign Language Oscar?
Sure. As long as it’s not in English. Take last year: Ireland, not Cuba, submitted Spanish-language film “Viva.” And France controversially chose the Turkish “Mustang” as its official entry over a list of top French auteurs.
If the submitting country paid for the movie and supplied key personnel, it doesn’t matter what language it’s in. The French produced “Mustang” and its director Deniz Gamze Ergüven, born in Turkey, is based in Paris. (Her next movie is English-language.) And the Irish produced “Viva,” even though director Paddy Breathnach shot with local actors in Havana.
And thus the UK’s selection organization, BAFTA, has submitted writer-director Babak Anvari’s well-reviewed Sundance mother-daughter drama “Under the Shadow” (October 7, Vertical Entertainment and Xyz Films), a 1988 Iran-Iraq War thriller shot in Farsi starring Narges Rashidi,...

Earlier this year and just before its well-received run at the Sundance Film Festival, Under the Shadow was acquired by Vertical Entertainment and Xyz Films for a worldwide release on Netflix. Now Xyz Films has teamed up with Wigwam Films in a new creative partnership, and one of their first in-the-works movies is a remake of Babak Anvari’s Iranian horror film.
The news of an Under the Shadow remake comes from Deadline, who reports that an “English-language adaptation” of Anvari’s film is on the docket for Xyz and Wigwam. Should the remake move forward, Anvari himself is set to executive produce the project, and he is also developing his next film with the two companies.
While the original Under the Shadow followed a family in Tehran during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s, the remake is expected to take place during the London Blitz, which would place the film in the early 1940s.
