In another “no brainer” decision, Capcom has has confirmed plans to continue the trend of remaking past Resident Evil titles. Hot off of the success of remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, Resident Evil 4 remake director Yasuhiro Anpo announced during a PlayStation partners event in Japan that the developer would be pursuing more remakes in the series.
Translated by IGN Japan, Anpo acknowledged Capcom plans when asked if the company plans on continuing with the Resident Evil series remakes. “We’ve released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well. Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more.”
As for which Resident Evil title will be getting the treatment next, Anpo didn’t say. “What game we will remake in...

Fans of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake won’t have to wonder if the game will be getting a VR mode. With Resident Evil Village receiving its free VR upgrade yesterday, Capcom also announced via Twitter that RE4 will be getting a VR upgrade for the PlayStation VR2.
“The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 has begun development! Please look forward to more details in the future!” read the initial (translated) tweet from Resident Evil’s Japanese Twitter. Following that was a second tweet that read, “The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will be released as free downloadable content for PlayStation 5 / PlayStation VR2.”
From the sounds of things, the VR mode won’t be making it in time for the remake’s release on March 24, but one never knows.

If you were worried that Capcom would take the axe to the content for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake (as some had speculated with regards to the “reimagining” of the story), there’s no need to fret. In fact, you can expect “a lot more” when it comes to the island section of the remake.
Per GamingBolt, in the recent issue of Edge magazine, Capcom sat down to chat about the anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake. The team revealed that unlike the more recent remakes in the series that didn’t escape the cutting room floor (namely in the game’s Island section), the team developing Resident Evil 4 confirmed that the remake will retain roughly the same amount of content. In fact, the island section will have more to it than in the original.

Sadly, all good things come to an end. And in the case of the fan remakes of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Remake, that’s unfortunately the case. The devs behind the project, Matt Croft, Briins Croft and DarkNemesisUmbrella, made the surprise announcement just as the Code: Veronica remake was nearing its release.
The announcement was made on the developer’s discord, where they revealed that Capcom had contacted them and asked for the projects to be stopped. The developers stressed that this isn’t an indication that Capcom themselves are working on a Code: Veronica remake (despite Resident Evil 4 remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi offering the slimmest of hopes).
As for why the fan remakes were cancelled, the devs said that it came down to the use of Capcom-owned characters and the Resident Evil trademark determined. Some have pointed out that the developers had set up donation...

After yesterday’s Resident Evil Showcase, there is no doubt that some fans who are wondering just what other Resident Evil titles Capcom is planning to revisit. In particular, some fans want to see Capcom remake Resident Evil – Code: Veronica for modern systems. And while that might not be in the cards, Capcom is at least aware of fan desires.
In an interview with Noisy Pixel, Resident Evil 4 remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi was asked about Capcom’s desire to remake other classic Resident Evil after Resident Evil 4‘s release next year. Specifically, would Hirabayahi turn his efforts to remaking Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
Hirabayahi responded that while there are “no concrete plans” at the present time to develop a remake of the 2000 Dreamcast game, Hirabayahi did say that if the “opportunity comes, maybe.”
Obviously, it’s not the definitive answer that fans of Code: Veronica want to hear.

With the Resident Evil 2 remake proving to be a massive success, let's consider what Capcom could do with the franchise next...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
The Resident Evil 2 remake has already sold millions of copies and earned glowing reviews from basically every outlet going (this one included). The game is an imaginative remake of the 1998 Capcom classic, with areas expanded and bosses like the Tyrant made more terrifying than ever before. But, due to the never-ending onslaught of time itself, all of this success simply leads to one question... what next?
Capcom is an enviable position right now with the Resident Evil franchise. This, its most recent remake, was a smash hit. And Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the last proper new installment in the series, also received positive write-ups and lots of love from fans. Whatever the studio chooses to do next, though,...

Though it’s only just released, it’s safe to say that Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 has been a huge success. The game’s sitting at 90% on Metacritic and has had fans delighting in its remake of the 1998 Ps One original, using everything that modern technology has to offer.
Its apocalyptic vision of Raccoon City is so great, in fact, that some folks are now demanding that Capcom work a similar magic on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. And in a promising twist, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi recently stated in an interview with Japanese website GameWatch that if they think fan demand’s there, they’ll put it into production.
Released just one year on from Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 takes place in the same location and at around the same time as the second game. It stars Jill Valentine, one of the original Resident Evil characters and famously features the iconic Nemesis.

Want a Resident Evil 3 remake? Capcom says you just have to let them know.
If you're one of the many holding out hope for a Resident Evil 3 remake, you might have more power to make it happen than you think. In an interview with Japanese publication Game Watch (translated by Dual Shockers), Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi tells fans that they need to make sure Capcom knows they want a Resident Evil 3 remake (or a remake of any other game in the series).
That might sound like some fairly generic advice meant to appease an eager fanbase, but that might not be the case. In fact, Hirabayashi notes that the biggest reason that Capcom stuck with the Resident Evil 2 remake through the years is that fans never really stopped talking about it. He indicated that their persistence truly was the driving force behind the game finally seeing the light of day.

I didn’t know I wanted a “Resident Evil 2” remake. After spending almost an hour with it at this year’s E3, it’s one of my games of the show.
The thing that “Resident Evil 2 Remake’s” trailer doesn’t properly convey is the oppressive stress of the entire experience, at least with the demo that Capcom had on hand. When I first entered the police department, I was suspicious, but the lights were on, and there was ammo on the reception desk. But in an item-gated environment, where tools or keys are required to explore most areas of the current space, the only path open to me was accessed by … squeezing under a jammed metal emergency shutter into a darkened hallway.
If you’re already saying no thank you, then “Resident Evil 2 Remake” really won’t be for you.

Its existence wasn’t a surprise, but one of the dark horse candidates for E3’s best of show lists was unexpected – a tour-de-force, top-to-bottom remake of “Resident Evil 2,” one of the most beloved games of all time. Publisher/developer Capcom has gone back to the well with “Resident Evil” a number of times with various re-releases and remakes for games in the series, but something about this one seems special, particularly coming off the heels of 2017’s “Resident Evil 7,” seen as a return to form after “Resident Evil’s” image took a precipitous tumble toward the end of the last console generation. Variety had the chance to sit down with producers Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Tsuyoshi Kanda about “Resident Evil 2’s” resurrection, its over-the-top gore, and why “Resident Evil” is a series that justifies so many remakes and remasters. This interview was conducted with the assistance of a translator and...

Resident Evil 2 Remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has said in an exclusive interview with VideoGamer that progress on the game is coming along nicely and that one of his primary aims of the remake is to “recapture the spirit” of the original game.
Hirabayashi states his confidence in being able to achieve such a feat, presumably knowing how much scrutiny it will come under from fans who adored the original, using the remake of the first Resident Evil as an example of how well the end result of such an endeavour can turn out.

The 2013 edition of the annual Halloween special will include horror mazes based on "The Cabin in the Woods," "Evil Dead," "The Walking Dead" and "An American Werewolf in London," as well as a newly announced "Resident Evil" video game series house.
"It's such a great delight to work with Universal on a haunted house based on the 'Resident Evil' games," "Resident Evil 6" producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi says in a statement. Capcom and Valve announced this past week that they have entered into a joint crossover project called Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2. As you might expect from the name, the project will see characters from Left 4 Dead 2 make their way into the PC version of Resident Evil 6, while RE6 enemies will join the zombie hordes in the PC version of L4D2.
For RE6 owners, the Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 crossover downloadable content means that they will be able to control one of four survivors from L4D2 (Coach, Nick, Ellis, and Rochelle), while playing in the PC exclusive The Mercenaries No Mercy mode. Each character has their own unique weapon load-out in the game, making the new playable characters more than just re-skined models. Additionally, the Witch and Mini Tank zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise have been thrown into the mode as enemy types.

Each character has their own unique weapon load-out in the game, making the new playable characters more than just re-skined models. Additionally, the Witch and Mini Tank zombies from the Left 4 Dead franchise have been thrown into the mode as enemy types.

Nothing is currently in development, but a Capcom producer has gone on record as saying that a Resident Evil 2 remake could happen, if the company sees enough demand for the idea.
Speaking to GameSpot, Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed the potentially good news saying:
“Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now. But if the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration.”
For many survival horror fans, Capcom’s 1998 release of Resident Evil 2 represents a high point in the series. I can personally recall seeing fan requests for a remake of the game as far back as 2002, when the (completely awesome!) Resident Evil remake launched on the GameCube.

Speaking to Destructiod at San Diego Comic-Con, Resident Evil 6 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi revealed that the development team is listening to player feedback from the RE6 demo that was included with Dragon’s Dogma, and using it to improve the final game.
Hirabayashi stated, “We’ve heard a lot of feedback based on the demo we released. The team is still working hard to fine tune it. We understand the parts of the demo that came with Dragon’s Dogma that were not received favorably, to put it mildly. We wanted to make sure we could try to improve on these things — the camera angles, the tearing and other issues.”
One of the most noticeable improvements that the current Resident Evil 6 build sports over the demo is that the main character has been repositioned towards the edge of the screen, and no longer partially blocks the view of the action. Additionally,...

Resident Evil 6 has been described as a franchise game-changer with Capcom’s press release stating that the title is “a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series.” One huge difference is the game’s supposed length, which Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who’s a producer for the series, says is supposed to be 70-80 percent longer than its predecessor, Resident Evil 5....

Resident Evil 6 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi sat down with the Playstation Blog to give a demo of what is being called the Crossover system, an evolution of the original idea in Resident Evil 2 where decisions you made as Leon affected the outcome of your playthrough as Claire, and vice versa.
One major point Hirabayashi made was the amount of time you will spend with the game. When asked about the game’s three scenarios, he said “If you play all three storylines all the way through, you’ll see everything you can see from every side in terms of story, and you’ll obviously have the chance, depending on the settings of the lobby, to have people joining you in these crossover intersections. It’s quite a lot of volume: we estimate that each one of these storylines is probably around 70% to 80% of the volume of the whole game in Resident Evil 5.

There are many games that I am interested in getting my hands on at this year’s E3, but none more so than Resident Evil 6.
Capcom gave me an exclusive 45 minute demo of the game that featured 3 levels, allowing me to try out the game’s three main characters and how each slice of the campaign will differentiate itself from one another. In addition to this demo I had a chance to talk with two fine folks who are working tirelessly on Resident Evil 6, Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi (both producers), but more on that later.

The demo was broken down into three intervals lasting approximately 15 minutes each in length. The lovely and super accommodating Capcom PR staff gave me a quick rundown of what to expect with each scenario. Leon’s would be more heavily rooted in classic Re staples (so horror), Chris’s would...

Who's the mystery character aiding Chris and Leon in Re: 6? Whoever he is, you'll get to play him.
Andriasang relayed some interesting tidbits about Resident Evil 6 following last week's Resident Evil Premiere Party. Interspersed between new tie-in product announcements including manga and a line of Re-branded shades, Executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and director Eiichiro Sasaki revealed a few more details about the November sequel.
Of particular interest is the currently unnamed third playable character in Resident Evil 6 who is apparently the crew-cut blonde guy in the trailer. It's unknown how he's tied to Leon and Chris, the Re team did elaborate a bit on the story, reiterating some of the details of the press release—i.e. Leon has to put down the recently zombified president while Chris is battling the spreading zombie menace in China—as well as naming Secret Service agent accompanying Leon (Helena Harper). Also,...
