There are few things we enjoy more here at Dread Central than helping out indie filmmakers, and today we're happy to point our readers in the direction of all three parts of Staci Layne Wilson's short "The Key to Annabel Lee [A Woman in Triptych]". Staci decided to post them online, and of course we have them right here!
Narrating and starring in the film — made up of three segments in all, best described as a cinematic form of installation art — is Nivek Ogre, famous as the lead singer of the industrial rock band Skinny Puppy. Diane Goldner appears as a wolflike seducer in two sections, but the star of the show, as in the Edgar Allan Poe poem, is Annabel Lee herself (played by Cherilyn Wilson, Corrie Shenigo, and Staci Layne Wilson). She is the triptych of the tale, representing the mythological Three Fates through the poetry of motion.

A girl staggers through the hall with a wound to the back of her head and drops dead. The other pupils can only stand around, stare and take photos on their phones. Got my killer straight off, after she was interviewed, it was too easy: jealously, the girl scorned, made fun of, the boy never noticing her. It's been done before. Flack: (Eddie Cahill) "The digital grapevine is in full effect." They even snap photos of Jo (Sela Ward) and Mac (Gary Sinise) arriving. The Vic was Olivia (Cassandra Jean) valedictorian of her senior class. Flack wants the student body cleared from the crime scene. Would've thought they'd have done that as soon as they arrived. Those students were just making a spectacle of the Vic. Imagine going to school with that shallow lot, though most teens usually are, but not everyone. Jo comments on how most of the rich...

Despite having only several titles released this week in our beloved genre, some of them are deemed very worthy of our hard-earned dollars.
While there were strong initial feelings about a Us remake of a damn near perfect foreign film, the end result is hauntingly accessible to fans of both the book as well as its film adaptation, Let the Right One In. How will you feel about it? Decide for yourself this week. Once you're done with your decision making, raise your Hatchets high and get ready to have a bloody good time because the movie they didn't want you to see is finally here! From there after slugging it out in the swamps of Louisiana, get ready to face off against extraterrestrials in Gareth Edwards' Monsters!
So, go forth and bring home these gems. You know how we feel about them.

We've been talking about Staci Layne Wilson's upcoming short "The Key to Annabel Lee [A Woman in Triptych]" for a while now, and this week marks both the end of principal photography and the opening of the film's official website - on Edgar Allan Poe's birthday no less!
"Interestingly enough," says Wilson, "wrap date was locked in on Poe's birthday [January 19th]. We had some rather remarkable coincidences every date we shot — we commenced on December 8, 2010, which marked the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's assassination (whose song 'Imagine' fits our theme as well) and finished the bulk of our filming on December 15, the day one of my favorite directors and a great inspiration, Jean Rollin, passed away." The director adds, "I also think it's interesting to note that 'Annabel Lee' is the last complete poem composed by Poe, and it's the very first thing I directed."

Staci Layne Wilson's upcoming short film "The Key to Annabel Lee" has, in Staci's words, evolved into a form of "installation art", and to give us a better idea of what to expect, she's provided Dread Central with two new exclusive stills and a quick clip.
The film stars Cherilyn Wilson (Parasomnia), Corrie Shenigo (After You), Diane Ayala Goldner (Feast I, II, III), and Nivek Ogre (Repo! The Genetic Opera) as "The Narrator". It involves an evil seductive wolf character (played by Goldner) and three incarnations of the tragic character of Edgar Allan Poe's Annabel Lee, played by three different actresses (Wilson, Shenigo, and Staci herself). Shot in Southern California on the shores of southern Los Angeles beaches, "The Key to Annabel Lee" uses gorgeous sweeping shots of ocean vistas as a backdrop for much of the action.

A new short film based on the poem "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allan Poe.
Principal photography has wrapped on The Key to Annabel Lee, the directorial debut of film journalist Staci Layne Wilson (who also wrote the script), who has been a key member of the genre journalist faction for years at outlets like Cinefantastique, Syfy.com, and Horror.com.
Like several other new major journalists-turned-filmmakers (Jovanka Vucovick, Stacie Ponder, and Andrew Kasch) Wilson has decided to pick up the reigns and make the kind of film she'd like to see; one with amazing colors, costumes, makeup, emotion, and fantastical tragedy with a touch of the sensual.

You’ve gotta give it up to director William Malone – the helmer of 1999's gory House on Haunted Hill remake and the universally reviled 2002's FeardotCom has conjured up something of an original idea for his new film Parasomnia. Parasomnia is the story of Laura Baxter (Cherilyn Wilson), who suffers from a rare form of parasomnia that leaves her asleep for the majority of her life. She is physically capable and generally healthy but tragically rendered comatose for days and months at a time.
Kept in a hospital bed and fed intravenously on a regular basis, Laura seems doomed to this existence until Danny Sloan (Dylan Purcell) stumbles across her room while visiting a friend in rehab. Danny is taken with Laura almost immediately and strives to find out more about her. Coincidentally, in the room next to Laura, serial killer and master hypnotist Byron Volpe (Patrick Kilpatrick - best name ever?...

Featuring Nikki Reed, Michael J. Pagan, Noah Segan, Matt Cohen, Cody Kasch, Betsy Russell, Cherilyn Wilson, Brad Dourif, Keith David, Michael Bailey Smith
There is only one appropriate response to a chain letter. Delete. Then unleash your best arsenal of curses that you picked up in the Merchant Marines against the sender.
The same applies to Chain Letter, Deon Taylor’s upcoming horror film. I use the term “film” loosely. The editing and plotting have the choppy grace of a YouTube mashup. But Chain Letter runs 90 minutes long, compounding your suffering.
Rather than watch Chain Letter, you can have the same experience for far less money and agony. Go to the seediest Starbucks in Hollywood. Find the flailing hobo with suspicious stains on his trousers. He’s on the corner, ranting. Buy him a coffee and ask his screenplay idea.

Are you awake? Horror fans will see some familiar plot points here and might just get a little drowsy. However, there are some bits that do seem like happy dreams in the film.s finale. Danny Sloan (Dylan Purcell) is a student whose girlfriend has just moved out. He is visiting his friend Billy (Dov Tiefenbach) who is in a court ordered drug rehab program. Billy suggests that Danny check out the .psycho ward. before leaving the hospital. What he finds is a sleeping beauty in the form of Laura (Cherilyn Wilson). She.s under the care of Dr. Corso (Timothy Bottoms) as she is in a constant dream state and only awakens occasionally. It.s love at first sight...

E1 Entertainment will be releasing Parasomnia on DVD and Blu-Ray July 13th (Dread). Central character Laura Baxter suffers from titular syndrome (sounds dirty), which leaves her in a partial sleep coma for most of the day. A serial killer uses her condition to his advantage by invading her dreams and turning them into nightmares. This site is not totally familiar with the film, but those with an interest in dreams, dream analysis, fantasy, or simply horror can pick themselves up a copy of the film inside.

"Laura Baxter is a young woman, literally a "sleeping beauty," who suffers from a medical condition called parasomnia. A childhood accident victim, she is actually sleeping her life away, awakening briefly on rare occasions. Art student Danny Sloan falls in love with her, unaware that her hospital neighbor, a terrifying mass murderer and mesmerist named Byron Volpe has other,...

With its obvious parody to the drama behind the Twilight saga (no, I don't mean the books or movies themselves but to the reality of the fifth book in the Twilight series getting leaked to the internet before its completion...and the drama that ensued), season 1 of I <3 Vampires was pretty much guaranteed a healthy audience and helped garner the online network Take180 more than 40 million video views to date. This week saw the launch of Season 2 of the popular web series. But it isn't the subject matter of the show that was its only appeal. In fact, fans of the show have been begging for a season 2 almost as soon as the season 1 finale went online. In the hiatus, they were treated to behind-the-scenes videos hosted by Adam Chambers, who...
