Writer Adam Rockoff reteams with director David DeCoteau on a new Lifetime thriller that bears a striking resemblance to this month’s earlier title, Million Dollar Lethal Listing.
In Fatal Fixer Upper, Vivian (Jasmine Aivaliotis) and Ryan (Philip McElroy) are a young married couple preparing to purchase their dream home. Just like in Million Dollar Lethal Listing, the deal is too good to be true: the house is wildly underpriced, the owner is looking for a quick sale, and they’re asked to make a hefty cash deposit.
Unlike the former title, though, there’s no mystery about who the villain is in Fatal Fixer Upper. The film opens with a classic Lifetime cold open that immediately establishes that there is a bad man keeping an eye on things. His identity is quickly revealed as Josh Thomas (Duke Van Patten), the home’s original owner and the person spying on...

Lifetime films traffic in a certain kind of narrative, namely infidelity, deception, dark romance, and occasionally murder. Tall, Dark, and Dangerous tackles at least three of these qualities, which is appropriate given the film is set partially around Valentine’s Day, a holiday ripe for sensational, slightly ridiculous narratives.
Following an underwhelming opening sequence in which Mercedes (Griselle Escotto) is menaced by a man on the phone before her house is broken into, the main narrative introduces quintessential Lifetime protagonist Alice Miles (Jamie Bernadette).
Alice is smart, wealthy, and, most importantly for Tall, Dark, and Dangerous, bad at relationships. When the film opens, Alice is promoted to partner at her law firm by her boss Ed (Eric Roberts), something her overly invested Woc work bestie Jane (Alana Walker) wants her to celebrate. Considering the rapidly approaching holiday and Alice’s lack of personal life, Jane boldly forces Alice to “shoot...

Chicago – When a locally filmed romantic Christmas movie was released last week on Hulu, the audience comfort and joy for this genre was proven once again by its Top Ten trending status on the streaming service. The merry elf director behind “Reporting for Christmas” is Chicago-based Jack C. Newell.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
It’s the Christmas season, and Mary (Tamara Feldman) is an idealistic reporter from Chicago, assigned a sponsor puff piece from her producer Hank (D.B. Sweeney). So she travels to a small Iowa town, to profile a toy manufacturer famous for their signature “Mistle-Toad” collectible. While preparing her story, she runs into Blake (Matt Trudeau), a toymaker exec who shares her idealism but is reluctant to appear on camera. It will take more that a Mistle-Toad to get these holiday sparks flying.

An endearing tale of someone who tries hard to make sure a community should not go through anything worse than what they’ve gone through themselves. Such mindsets help people finally have a conversation and make people aware of problems that exist in society. There is no reason why any of the taboo topics cannot be discussed and why people can’t be made to feel safe in an environment. Keeping that in mind, director Alpha Nicky Mulowa and writer Adam Rockoff showcase to us the tale of Ni’cola Mitchell in their film, “Giving Hope: The Ni’cola Mitchell Story.” Ni’cola started as an author and became an inspiration for many young girls around the world, but life’s journey is as complicated as anyone else’s. Let’s look at the obstacles she comes across to become an inspiration in the end.

I’m not going to lie, I’m really starting to enjoy the trashy nature of these horror/thriller themed Lifetime movies. I think it’s the unapologetic nature of their films, they remind me very much of my video renting heyday, when the sexploitation films of filmmakers like Jag Mundhra were popular and Single White Female inspired a gluttony of similar ‘vicious vixens’ revenge-style films. It also seems, at least to me, that Lifetime has taken the reigns from the likes of Syfy, who years ago produced cheap but fun movies that riffed on bigger budget movies and, ultimately, made their films almost a genre of their own. Lifetime is doing the same with their films – taking their traditional over the top dramas but scaling them back a little,...

‘Never give up’ is a mantra we often apply to most facets of life, and rightly so. (The exception should always be watching the Witchcraft films; and one should pull that parachute early.) Jeremy Kasten’s The Attic Expeditions (2001) is a film that chased that dubious Hollywood rainbow and actually found the gold: a completed movie. Not a coherent one—by design—but completed. And it’s kind of a pip. Now Severin Films has put out this aughts curiosity with some fun extras and a solid transfer to boot. Let’s get crazy, shall we?

Shock Till You Drop recently visited Springfield, Illinois where 20th Century Fox held a special Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter press event.
Part of our itinerary: A trip to Lincoln's tomb in the Oak Ridge Cemetery and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum where we feasted our eyes on one of Lincoln's original, signature top hats and one of the gloves he wore when he was assassinated. The trip also called for a preview of the Alvh trailer (debuting today and looks like a hyper-stylized blast) at the museum along with interviews with director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted), star Benjamin Walker and writer Seth Grahame-Smith, who also penned the novel upon which the film is based.
Inside, you'll find the first batch of sound bites from the trio as they discuss the June 22nd release also starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie and Adam Rockoff.

The fact that someone out there is actually making a motion picture centered around President Lincoln battling slave-owning vampires is astounding, and I’m forever thankful to the suit who gave this outrageous project the proverbial greenlight. Below you’ll find two new Abe-centric photos from the Tim Burton-produced, Timur Bekmambetov-directed “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. The flick stars newcomer Benjamin Walker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, and Adam Rockoff. As stupid as the whole thing sounds, I can’t wait to see this thing play out on the big screen. Seth Grahame-Smith, you are the man. Until your gimmick gets old, anyway. Abe takes out the vampiric trash on June 22nd, 2012. The Starz original Going To Pieces: The Rise And Fall Of The Slasher Film is more successful in offering devotees a gorenucopia of clips and talking heads (still attached to bodies) recounting the subgenre’s history than it likely will be in convincing non-fans that this grisly strain of cinema is a worthy one.
The hour-and-a-half show is based on Adam Rockoff’s book of the same title, which stands as the single best study of stalker cinema ever published.

Fango got ahold of a few behind-the-scenes FX pics for The Pick Up, Fever Dreams’ half-hour follow-up to its debut feature Flesh For The Beast. You can give ’em a look below the cut.
Written, produced and directed by John Carchietta and Carl Morano, The Pick Up (which Morano first discussed with us here) serves as a bridge between the original Flesh and its feature sequel, which is currently in development with Wicked Lake’s Adam Rockoff scripting. The short features all-new girls, though actor Sergio Jones is back, and Brian Spears (second photo) and Pete Gerner (third photo) returned to create the impressive FX. Look for more on Flesh For The Beast 2 right here as it comes closer to fruition; The Pick Up has a website (just a homepage with poster art right now) here.

At the New York City Comic-Con this past weekend, Fango ran into Fever Drems producer Carl Morano, who gave us some details about a couple of upcoming projects. One is a new possession picture called The Devil’S Hostage, and the other is a follow-up to the company’s debut title Flesh For The Beast.
“The Devil’S Hostage is about two exorcists and two different case studies, two claims of possession that they encounter and deal with,” Morano tells us. “We plan to shoot it in the New York area, probably around the middle of this year. John Carchietta and myself are finishing the script, and we’ll announce the crew and the cast soon.” You can see a poster and a teaser for Hostage at its official website here; use the password “anton” to enter.

Fever Dreams Llc. is proud to announce the New York City exclusive theatrical engagement of Wicked Lake on Friday, June 27th at the Pioneer Theater, 155 East Third Street at Avenue A. Wicked Lake is a sensual supernatural shocker directed by Zach Passero, based on an original screenplay by Adam Rockoff. The films score and forthcoming soundtrack album is by Ministrys Al Jourgenson. Wicked Lake tells of four co-ed girls who head out to a lakeside mountain cabin for a relaxing weekend. Unbeknownst to them, there are two groups of predatory monstrosities who have their eyes on them ... that is until the stroke of midnight when all hell literally breaks loose.
