I missed the passing of out comedian Scott Kennedy last week. Scott was out when it wasn't easy to be out, and traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan more than 50 times to perform for the troops, despite it not being the most welcoming environment. Dave Holmes has a great tribute to the man, and we're left in a world with fewer laughs because of his passing.
Friend of the site Jane Espenson is reportedly writing a spinoff to Once Upon a Time, to take place in Wonderland, structured as a series of complete arcs like American Horror Story. The only problem is that Jane has tweeted that there are several inaccuracies in the reports, but she's not saying which ones.
In things nobody saw coming, Ain't Them Bodies Saints director David Lowery has been hired by Disney to develop an updated Pete's Dragon for Disney. The new movie wouldn't be a musical.

Milla Jovovich may be an actress on paper and the lead of the 'Resident Evil' series, but that's not her true calling in life. She would much rather be a humble paparazzi -- mind you, one that always narrates her videos. Day in and day out, the latest in the video game inspired series, 'Resident Evil: Retribution' is haunted by Jovovich. If she had it her way, she'd live-stream the climax of the film being shot, but director Paul W.S. Anderson has forbade it. She did manage to leak something else today: the first look at the newly cast Johann Urb as the popular former Raccoon City police officer, Leon Scott Kennedy. You can check out the video by clicking this link. It shows Urb in the garb that Kennedy wore in the video game, 'Resident Evil 4,' the game changer that took less of...

Resident Evil is my guilty pleasure franchise, a series of films that regardless of quality never fail to deliver the goods.
It pleases me therefore to convey the news that the saga is set to continue with its star and two-time director firmly in check. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Anderson will direct Resident Evil: Retribution from his own screenplay, in anticipaton of a September 14, 2012, release.
Less certain, however, is the future for Sienna Guillory’s Jill Valentine. While the actress recently announced over twitter that she was set to return following her mid-credits appearance at the end of last year’s Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D, word on the street has it that the character is being recast.
Having appeared in the largely discredited second instalment, it seems a little short-sighted to bring her back for such a brief cameo two films later only to recast Valentine in preparation for...

Last year Resident Evil: Afterlife made almost $300 million worldwide, which is pretty insane for the fourth installment in a movie series based on a video game franchise. That's more than twice what any of the previous Re films made, and it quickly prompted Sony to greenlight a fifth Resident Evil film. Now this week we have confirmation that it will be called Resident Evil: Retribution and director Paul W.S. Anderson will not only write it but also direct it as well. Oh, and his lovely wife Milla Jovovich will reprise her role as Alice... or a clone of Alice... or something. None of this is much of a surprise, but apparently the character Jill Valentine, who was played by Sienna Guillory in the last film and also Resident Evil: Apocalypse, is going to be recast. Tough break for her, but somehow I doubt it will have much bearing on the film.

Paul W.S. Anderson is returning to both write and direct "Resident Evil: Retribution", the fifth installment of the popular video game adaptation reports Bloody Disgusting.
Star Milla Jovovich is also back as Alice for the Tokyo-set entry in the franchise which will also see the return of Jill Valentine, though it looks like that part may be recast rather than having actress Sienna Guillory reprise the role which was a major character in the second and made a brief appearance in the fourth.
Other new characters include Barry Burton, a member of S.T.A.R.S., and Leon Scott Kennedy, a U.S. Government agent. Shooting could kick off as early as October, with a September 14th 2012 release already set.
Anderson penned all the previous 'Resident' movies but directed only the first and fourth one. He's currently putting the final touches on his new "The Three Musketeers 3D" feature which hits theaters in October.

[1] We already knew a fifth Resident Evil film was on the way, so now comes the totally unsurprising news that Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson are set to return to the franchise once again. Jovovich, who's starred in all four previous installments, will be reprising her role as protagonist Alice in Resident Evil: Retribution. Anderson, meanwhile, will be returning to the director's chair. Although Anderson has written and produced all of the films in the series -- he's writing and producing the new one as well -- he's only directed two of the earlier entries: the original Resident Evil, and the 2010's Resident Evil: Afterlife. But while Jovovich and Anderson are boarding the film, it looks like another member of the team is on her way out. Read more details after the jump. According to a new report by Bloody Disgusting [2], producers are currently casting the roles of S.

Milla Jovovich has been saying that she is planning to play Alice in the fifth "Resident Evil" installment, called "Resident Evil: Retribution." And now comes word that Paul Ws Anderson, who directed the first and the fourth films, will return to direct the "Retribution" from his own script. And even though Sienna Guillory recent confirmed that she will be returning to pla Jill Valentine, Bloody-Disgusting claims that she'll be recast. Other roles being cast are Barry Burton, who was a member of S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Service), and Leon Scott Kennedy, a Us Government agent and previously an officer for the Raccoon City Police Department. The new film will begin shooting in October in Toronto and Tokyo. It is set to hit theaters on September 14th, 2012.

News broke yesterday that Resident Evil: Retribution was gearing up for production this October (here), but there’s been no mention of casting or a director announced. However, Bloody-Disgusting is now revealing news that Paul W.S. Anderson will return and direct the screenplay he’s written for the film.
So, we’ve got our director for the film, but what about the lead casting? Well, here’s a “shocker”, Milla Jovovich will be returning as Alice in the film. But here’s a real shocker, Sienna Guillory is apparently being recast. She revealed a while back (here) that she’d return as Jill Valentine, but Bd’s source is claiming she won’t now, and that her character is being recast. No names to replace her have been mentioned at this time.

Bloody Disgusting has received word that actress, Milla Jovovich will indeed reprise her role as Alice in 'Resident Evil: Retribution,' the fifth film in the series. They've also revealed that Paul W.S. Anderson will be in the director's chair. Jovovich returning is kind of a no brainer -- kind of like the enemies her character mutilates -- since she's held the lead in each film thus far. While Anderson has been a part of each film -- whether as a writer, producer, or director -- he only directed two of them: 2002's 'Resident Evil,' and the most recent, 2010's 'Resident Evil: Afterlife.' The second film in the series, 2004's 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' was helmed by Alexander Witt, and the third, 2007's 'Resident Evil: Extinction' was from Russell Mulcahy.Actress, Sienna Guillory tweeted a few months back that she is reprising her...
