Fifth Season will represent the title at the upcoming Berlin European Film Market.

In the series, the year is 1963, and legendary detective Spade (Owen) is enjoying retirement in the South of France. Spade’s life in Bozouls is peaceful and quiet, but the rumoured return of his old adversary will change everything. Six beloved nuns have been brutally murdered, and as the town grieves, secrets emerge and new leads are established. Spade learns the murders are connected to a mysterious child, who is believed to possess great powers.

All works of IP exploitation are, on some level, legitimized fanfiction. Once divorced from the original author, the line that separates a franchise’s sequel, prequel or reboot from the average post on Wattpad is a great deal of money and the blessing of an estate and/or corporation. But even with this baseline, the AMC limited series “Monsieur Spade” is an especially unabashed act of wish fulfillment through and for a beloved protagonist. The namesake of “Monsieur Spade” is none other than Sam Spade (Clive Owen), the private investigator who headlined the Dashiell Hammett novel turned John Huston film noir “The Maltese Falcon,” plus a handful of Hammett short stories published in the 1930s. For their spin on Spade, series creators Tom Fontana (“Oz”) and Scott Frank (“The Queen’s Gambit”) send the sleuth to the south of France, where he spends a few weeks of his not-so-peaceful retirement looking...

The James Bond-esque opening sequence of Monsieur Spade sees a glimmering 1950s whip winding down a spectacular country road in the south of France. Inside the car is Sam Spade (Clive Owen) and a doe-eyed young girl, Teresa (Ella Feraud), whom the legendary detective, first introduced in Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon, is trying to reunite with her father. When plans go awry and the pair end up stranded, they’re rescued by a glamorous French woman named Gabrielle (Chiara Mastroianni). She, we learn, will become Spade’s wife.
Flash forward eight years and Spade is a broken-hearted widower overseeing Gabrielle’s estate near the town of Bozouls, and he’s placed the teenaged Teresa (now played by Cara Bossom) in a local convent. But what led Spade to a remote town in France with the young girl in the first place? And what occurred in the subsequent eight...

The Gallery has been created to engage both film fans and gamers with its blend of high production values, stellar cast and a nuanced script depicting the film’s two time periods – 1981 and 2021 – both of which are of considerable political, social and cultural significance in UK history.

Yasmin Finney, who plays fan-favorite Elle Argent on Netflix’s “Heartstopper,” will play a character named Rose on “Doctor Who,” BBC announced Monday. She will first appear in 2023, which will be the 60th anniversary of the cult sci-fi series.
Is she playing a version of Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler, who was a companion to the Ninth and Tenth Doctors (Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant), or an entirely different character who also happens to be named Rose? Showrunner Russell T. Davies says we’ll have to wait to find that out.
“How can there be another Rose?” Davies said in a statement. “You’ll find out in 2023, but it’s an absolute joy to welcome Yasmin to the ‘Doctor Who’ set. We all fell in love with her in ‘Heartstopper,’ one of those shows which changes the world — and now Yasmin can change the Whoniverse!”

Warning: contains plot details for The Rising episodes 1-8 .
At first glance, The Rising is just another show about another dead girl. It would be understandable for viewers to dismiss it as one more drama in which a woman suffers life-ending violence at the hand of a man. As the story of a murdered teenager wandering the Earth and trying figure out who took her life, The Rising brings to mind the controversial Netflix adaptation Thirteen Reasons Why, but is tonally closer to acclaimed crime mystery Mare of Easttown. Based on Belgian drama Hotel Beau Sejour and written by The Pact‘s Pete McTighe, it’s set in a closely knit community that keeps everything pleasant enough on the surface, but contains lies, secrets and much worse. However, there’s something different about this series. Its murder victim Neve (Clara Rugaard) is not only present, but also used as more...

Eddie Redmayne told The Sunday Times that he would not star in “The Danish Girl” if the period drama was made today. The movie, directed by Tom Hooper and co-starring Alicia Vikander, starred Redmayne as painter Lili Elbe, a transgender woman who was one of the early recipients of sex reassignment surgery. Redmayne’s performance earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Despite the awards attention, Redmayne’s casting drew criticism as the film did not cast a trans actor as Elbe.
“No, I wouldn’t take it on now,” Redmayne said. “I made that film with the best intentions, but I think it was a mistake…The bigger discussion about the frustrations around casting is because many people don’t have a chair at the table. There must be a leveling, otherwise we are going to carry on having these debates.”

In the nearly six years since Tom Hooper’s “The Danish Girl” opened in theaters, the film has become just one example of Hollywood’s history of straight-washing queer roles. Cis actor Eddie Redmayne stars in the film as painter Lili Elbe, a transgender woman who was one of the early recipients of sex reassignment surgery. Redmayne’s performance earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. Despite the awards attention, Redmayne’s casting drew criticism as the film did not cast a trans actor in the eponymous trans role.
“When we were making the film, it was such a learning experience,” Redmayne’s co-star Alicia Vikander told Insider in an interview this month while promoting her role in David Lowery’s recently released “The Green Knight.” “I think Eddie did a wonderful job in the role,” she said.

Exclusive: George Blagden and Anna Popplewell will lead the cast of The Gallery, a UK interactive hostage-thriller project that will also be delivered separately as a linear film.
The feature contains two narratives, one following a female protagonist which takes place in London in 1981, and one following a male protagonist which takes place in London 2021. They both depict an art gallery curator being held hostage by a portrait painter who threatens to detonate a bomb unless their demands are met.
The project comes from director and writer Paul Raschid, who last year helmed the interactive romantic comedy Five Dates, which starred Doctor Who actress Mandip Gill and Vikings actress Georgia Hirst. That film was released on platforms including Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam.
The Gallery will be completed by October 2021. Shooting took place in February and March this year.

2021 Golden Globe Final Predictions:
Best TV Movie/Limited Series
Updated: Feb. 24, 2021
Awards Commentary:
This year’s limited series category is an ambitious field, made up of personal tales like “Small Axe” and “Unorthodox,” an addictive mystery in “The Undoing” and a boundary-pushing, honest relationship tale with “Normal People.” But the compelling performance by Anya Taylor-Joy in “The Queen’s Gambit,” which manages to make chess exciting and one young woman’s personal journey combating her demons even more compelling, is the true frontrunner here.
And The Predicted Winner Is: "The Queen's Gambit" (Netflix)–
Executive Producers: William Horberg, Allan Scott, Scott Frank
Synopsis: Beth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) is an orphan who becomes a chess prodigy, but alcoholism may prevent her from becoming the world champion.

Although we still have quite a long wait for new episodes of the main Doctor Who series, there’s been plenty of new content to enjoy during the lockdown, including an ambitious multi-platform event. The Big Finish audio line is now set to achieve a landmark though by casting its first openly transgender companion for the Doctor, to be played by Rebecca Root as part of an adventure involving Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor.
There’ve been some trans characters in Doctor Who before, of course, including within the novel adaptation of “Rose” as well as Eleanor Blake in another Big Finish audio installment. In addition, trans writers have contributed to Doctor Who comics and novels, and Adèle Anderson has contributed voice talents, while Bethany Black became the first openly trans actress on the show back in season 9. Following “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling’s anti-trans tweets earlier this week – and her further defense of her comments in a 3,600 word essay – alums of the incredibly successful film franchise as well as other celebrities have publicly spoken out against the British writer.
Most recently, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the series, tweeted a short statement regarding her views on transgender rights. “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are,” Watson wrote.

It might be the start of a new year, but we're already feeling the holiday cheer thanks to Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding. In September, the two signed on to star in a Christmas-themed romance, Last Christmas. The film, set in London, will be directed by Paul Feig, whose previous work includes Bridesmaids, The Heat, Ghostbusters, and most recently, Golding's A Simple Favor. Other producers who will have a hand in the film are Jessie Henderson, David Livingstone, and Emma Thompson, the latter of whom also wrote the screenplay with the help of Bryony Kimmings. Actresses Rebecca Root, Thompson, and Michelle Yeoh will also star!
The film is expected to hit theaters on Nov. 15, and takes its name from Wham!'s hit single of the same name. "I'd met with George Michael. He was concerned about the homeless, which is a large part of this story," Thompson told The Daily Mail in January.
