On Monday, Liev Schreiber posted a photo from the set of his upcoming Ray Donovan film, teasing his reunion with four longtime co-stars.
“I will miss this particular gaggle of actors very very much,” the actor wrote on his official Instagram account. “@raydonovan #comingsoon.”
In the photo, Schreiber is seen huddling up with Kerris Dorsey, Dash Mihok, Pooch Hall and Eddie Marsan. On Ray Donovan, Dorsey played Ray’s daughter, Bridget; Mihok played his younger brother, Bunchy. Hall played Ray’s younger half-brother Daryll, while Marsan played his older brother, Terry.
The acclaimed crime drama created by Ann Biderman aired for seven seasons on Showtime between 2013 and 2019. It centered on Schreiber’s professional “fixer” of the same name, watching as he arranged bribes, payoffs, threats, crime-scene clean-up, and other illegal activities on behalf of his (usually) celebrity clients.
While the series was officially canceled in February of 2020, the follow-up film was announced a year later.

Ray Donovan season 7 will stay in a New York frame of mind.
Ray Donovan is not the kind of guy you fire. More than a few of his friends have woken up to a dead body next to them, and even more than that count themselves lucky to wake up at all. Showtime knows this as Ray Donovan season 7 got the go-ahead, will according to Deadline.
The series, which stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Liev Schreiber as Ray Donovan, saw its setting change from Los Angeles to New York state in season 6. Season 7 will remain in New York.
Donovan moved to New York after his life was saved by a Staten Island cop named Mac, played by Domenick Lombardozzi. The former Boston mobster stayed for the pizza, and got friendly with media mogul Sam Winslow (Susan Sarandon), who wants Anita Novak (Lola Glaudini) to be the next mayor.

When we meet Joyce Mitchell, she’s at a low moment, being questioned about her role in a prison breakout. She’s combative, bristling and insistent on being called by her nickname, Tilly, and evidently dissembling under the gaze of the state’s inspector general (Bonnie Hunt). When we shift back in time to see how her troubles began, there’s no discontinuity or rupture; the character we’ve met under duress lives her life in a state of simmering rage. It’s a credit to Patricia Arquette’s performance, and to “Escape at Dannemora,” that Tilly feels as credible as the real person she is; Arquette makes “Dannemora” worth sticking with even as the show’s running time grows punishing.
The Dannemora breakout — the 2015 escape of two inmates from a maximum-security facility in New York in which the actual Tilly Mitchell was convicted for her role — is elementally fascinating.

Showtime is launching a companion podcast for its upcoming limited series from Ben Stiller, “Escape at Dannemora,” that will delve into the real-life events that inspired the drama.
The limited series, which is directed and executive produced by Stiller, is based on the 2015 prison break from Clinton Correctional Facility. Two escapees — both convicted murderers — broke out of the Upstate New York facility, aided by a married female prison employee who reportedly carried on affairs with both men while supervising them in the tailor shop. It spawned the largest manhunt in the history of New York State.
The podcast, which is produced by Wondery’s Real Crime Profile, will dive deeper into the real-life events and feature interviews with cast-members, real people involved in the case and the creators.

Cannes — Showtime’s limited series “Escape at Dannemora” marks a departure for Ben Stiller as a director, by design as he tackled eight hours of the stranger-than-fiction story of the 2015 prison break in upstate New York that led to a three-week manhunt.
During a Q&A after Monday’s world premiere screening of “Dannemora” at Mipcom, Stiller said he sought to evoke the gritty tension of some of his favorite 1970s crime dramas a la “Dog Day Afternoon,” “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” and “Straight Time.” The drama starring Benicio Del Toro, Patricia Arquette and Paul Dano, revolves around two inmates who hacked their way of a prison in Dannemora, N.Y., with help from a female prison official who had a sexual relationship with both men.
“I was taken by the combination of elements in it,” Stiller said of the series that bows Nov. 18. “It wasn’t just a genre piece.

Showtime’s Ray Donovan returns for its sixth season on Sunday, October 28 at 9 pm Et/Pt, and judging by the trailer released today during the network’s TCA presentation, the Liev Schreiber fixer drama has lost none of its punch – or its Susan Sarandon, who is back as a series regular.
“I wanted it all to stop,” narrates Schreiber’s Ray at the start of the trailer, after moving from L.A. to New York City and just before he takes what looks to be an end-it-all plunge into the East River. Within milliseconds, though, he’s rescued by one of New York’s finest, who Ray then tries to knock silly, try being the operative word.

But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military – a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

Here's the first trailer for War Dogs, formerly known as Arms and the Dudes. The film is based on the shocking-but-true story chronicled in a 2011 Rolling Stone article of two twenty-something Miami Beach stoners who worked the system and earned a $300 million weapons contract from the U.S. government to supply guns to our allies in Afghanistan during the war, and it stars Jonah Hill and Miles Teller as the two bro-tastic war profiteers.
The Hangover and Old School director Todd Phillips directed this one, but even if his name wasn't plastered all over this trailer, you probably would have been able to guess he was the one responsible for it. Teller is hated by just about every internet commenter I've ever seen, and he's playing another smarmy douchebag here. As much as I think this will be a little too genuinely bro-heavy for my tastes, I also read that...

A version of this story first appeared in the April 10 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. Two years ago, Ray Donovan executive producer Bryan Zuriff made headlines when he was arrested in a high-stakes sports-betting sting. With his two years of probation just up (Zuriff also was sentenced to six months of home confinement, 300 hours of community service and a $20,000 fine), he has three projects in play. Arms and the Dudes, a Warners movie with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller, is shooting with Todd Phillips, a good friend of Zuriff's, behind the camera.

Todd Phillips’ post-Hangover career is taking a swift turn into meatier territory with his upcoming movie, Arms And The Dudes, which has now added yet another new name to its starry line-up. Per Deadline, Ana De Armas has signed on to star alongside the recently-announced Miles Teller as his girlfriend.
For those unfamiliar with the movie, it’s based on a Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson that revolves around the mishaps of a couple of stoners who wind up dealing weapons. Originally, Jesse Eisenberg and Shia LeBeouf were down to play the pair, until scheduling conflicts arose leaving the parts available for Oscar-nominee Jonah Hill and Teller. Also on board to produce are Scott Budnick, Mark Gordon, and Bryan Zuriff from a script by Jason Smilovic.
The movie marks another step up the industry ladder for Armas. The actress’ latest effort, Eli Roth’s Knock Knock, saw her star alongside Keanu Reeves.

Miles Teller may have been lambasted throughout the course of Whiplash for being slightly off tempo, as J.K. Simmons’ unrelenting tutor circled his budding drummer like a shark circling a baby seal, but in Hollywood circles, the actor couldn’t be more in tune.
With a leading role in Fox’s forthcoming Fantastic Four reboot, not to mention his physically demanding part in Bleed For This, 2015 is already shaping up to be a phenomenal year for the 27-year old. And today, Deadline has learned that Teller has added another feather to his crowded cap in the form of Warner Bros.’ Arms and the Dudes.
Drawing upon Guy Lawson’s Rolling Stone article, the thriller will see Teller star opposite two-time Oscar nominee Jonah Hill as two bumbling arms dealer who happen across a high-profile contract deal worth $300 million, one which sees the pair help supply weapons to Us allies within Afghanistan.
