After his two attempts at the international glory with English-language movies “The Sense of an Ending” (2014) and “Our Souls at Night” (2017), Ritesh Batra is back to the territory he is most familiar with, the heart-warming Indian romance he created with his feature debut “The Lunchbox” (2013) which became a huge festival hit. His newest film, “Photograph” (2019) walks pretty much the same ground, content-, execution-, and festival distribution-wise. After its world premiere at Sundance last year and European premiere at Berlinale, it went on an extended, seemingly never-ending festival tour, parallel with the wide cinema release. Better late than never, could be said for its screening at this year’s online edition of Zagreb Film Festival and the review here.

But a source close to the production house denies it and claims that her one year contract with them has ended which resulted in her exit. However, Niharika Khan has a different story to tell. According to the popular fashion designer who has also...

There are two fantastic recent books, both of which were adapted for the screen. One was “The Silver Linings Playbook”, which is now an Oscar nominated film starring Bradley Cooper and our very own Anupam Kher. The other book was Chetan Bhagat’s “The 3 Mistakes of My Life”. First published in 2008 and easily one of Chetan’s best, many of us never contemplated that it would become a feature length film. For those who may not have read the book, you may be equally anticipating director Abhishek Kapoor’s follow up to Rock On!!, which coincidentally was also released in 2008. So our review will focus on the book’s adaptation and director’s performance in parallel.

The best of the best from India’s movie industry, national and regional, gathered in New Delhi for the 59th National Film Awards. While it was regional cinema that dominated this years award function there was one familiar person that took to the stand to receive an award. None other than Bollywood’s 2011 super queen Vidya Balan.
Dressed in a rose pink sari, something which has become a signature look at award ceremonies, along with with a simple hair style, Vidya took to the stage to accept the best actress trophy for her role in The Dirty Picture. While it seems Vidya has been collecting all the awards for The Dirty Picture, others in the production team were awarded for their work. Customer designer Niharika Khan and make-up artist Vikram Gaekwad also picked up awards for their part in transforming Vidya into item queen Silk.

Ahmedabad resident Govind had always dreamt of owning a business. His friends Ish and Omi had other plans and have always had a passion for cricket, and so opened their own cricket store. Govind is a ‘make-a-quick-buck’ kind of man, whereas Ish wants to support Ali – the batsman with an exceptional gift – and his talent. And Omi? He just wants to be friends. But of course in a world where religion, politics and love all battle against each other, nothing is ever that simple. Can each of them strive to be successful? Or will it all come crashing down around their feet?
Above, is a synopsis of the novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, which is the next novel of award-winning author Chetan Bhagat set to be seen on the big screen, after the hugely popular Five Point Someone (3 Idiots) and the not so popular ‘One Night @ the Call Center’ (Hello) being adapted into films.

New Delhi, March 12: A tight budget, a difficult theme and a curvy actress to dress! Stylist Niharika Khan worked with all odds in "The Dirty Picture", but says her struggle to make Silk, played by Vidya Balan, look more silky than vulgar in the hit movie has paid rich dividends in the form of a National Award.
"I must admit that the feeling was overwhelming and it has not sunk in yet," Niharika told Ian in an interview.
"I would have liked to receive the National Award but I didn't think it would happen so soon in my career and definitely not for this film... now I have to do better and that leaves me very little scope for.

Quick popularity and a lot of attention for styling Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture notwithstanding, the quirky Niharika Khan is not sure whether films are her calling It's all Vidya's dedication. Had she not trusted me, I would not have been able to create all these clothes You can style the whole world, but not your husband," mock-complains Niharika Khan. Ayub Khan has chosen to change out of the outfit suggested by his film stylist wife into something more formal for the evening out. Though Niharika doesn't mind it, she won't miss the opportunity to tease her husband. Her styling, however, is currently at the centre of all attention, converted into household chatter by Vidya Balan's Silk Smitha avatar in The Dirty Picture. The stylist has brought back from the 1980s, the over-the-top apsara outfits, Egyptian-style dresses, multi-coloured printed shirts and outdated gipsy skirts. But she refuses to take the sole credit.

“Only three things work in the film industry,” says Balan’s character, ”Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment.” While many Bollywood movies have been exploiting this fact to the core with “entertainment” solely replacing content, Ekta Kapoor’s and Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture proves a point that you can serve both entertainment and good content together. And yes, if the promos have made an impression that this movie is all sex, then you couldn’t be more wrong. For the makers of this movie have definitely ensured that what you take home from this movie is a complete package.

Band Baaja Baaraat is set in the world of the Delhi wedding industry. But why Delhi, not Mumbai? Well, the reason is simple, director Maneesh Sharma is from Delhi. He has an intrinsic connection to the city and somehow knew he had to make a movie there. The Dop, writer, production designer and 4 ADs are all from Delhi too. The costume designer Niharika Khan sourced all the film's costumes in Delhi. That film was shot there was very intriguing to the locals and nearly 6000 local people watched the Janakpuri shoot of the film. So as you can see, the director and the crew all say,"Yeh Dilli Hai Meri Jaan"!
