Viewers immediately saw that the GMA star wore a brace due to an injury she suffered during her absence.
The ABC morning program’s co-host enjoyed a vacation with her spouse, Amber Laign, as they returned to one of their favorite spots: Key West, Florida.
During their time away, Roberts shared updates, including a video that had fans worried about her safety.

Jonathan Jackson says he is “at a loss for words” in the wake of fellow General Hospital alum Tyler Christoper dying on Oct. 31 at age 50. And yet the five-time Emmy winner found a few to pay tribute to his TV kin.
“My family and I are deeply saddened to learn of Tyler’s passing,” Jackson wrote Wednesday afternoon on Instagram. (Jackson is married to Gh alum Lisa Vultaggio, who played Hannah Scott on the ABC sudser.) “He was a beautiful soul with so much compassion, love, humor and strength. I cannot speak to anything that Tyler Christopher, who died on Tuesday, did following his initial run as General Hospital‘s Nikolas Cassadine. But I do want to take a moment to reflect on, and celebrate, how he — in his first acting role ever, I believe? — rose to the occasion after being dropped into one of Gh‘s best twists ever.
Christopher, lore tells us, first auditioned for the Gh role of Stone Cates (which instead went to Michael Sutton). Years later, though, he successfully made a run at the role of Nikolas, another brand-new character that was inserted into...

It’s nearly impossible to think of ABC‘s daytime drama General Hospital without thinking of Genie Francis. The Emmy winner joined the soap in 1977 as a teenager and by 1981, when her character married Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), she was a household name. Now, that ingenue is in the past and Laura Spencer is a formidable presence in Port Charles — in addition to being the city’s mayor, she’s also embroiled in the storyline surrounding her grandson, Spencer (Nicholas Chavez), and his desire to gain custody of his infant baby brother, born to his ex-girlfriend Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl). Ahead of General Hospital celebrating 60 years on the air on April 1, our Jim Halterman caught up with Francis to discuss her daytime television journey and why she thinks the drama will endure for years to come. What do you make of General Hospital in 2023, given your history with the show and where things are heading?...

Long-time General Hospital star Genie Francis has opened up about the show’s controversial date rape scene from 1979 and how it’s been a “burden” she is tired of having to justify. Francis, who has played Laura Spencer in the daytime soap since 1977, spoke about the uncomfortable scene during ABC‘s Television Critics Association presentation on Wednesday, January 11, stating, “I don’t defend it anymore.” The horrific scene caused controversy, not just because of its inappropriateness but because of how Francis’ character, Laura, later fell in love with the man who raped her, Luke (Anthony Geary), and eventually married him. “You know, as a young kid, at 17, I was told to play rape, and I played it,” Francis said (via People). “I didn’t even know what it was. But, at 17, you follow the rules, and you do as you are told, and you aim to please. At 60, I don...

It’s tough to think of ABC‘s long-running daytime drama General Hospital without Genie Francis — the actress started playing Laura Collins (formerly Laura Spencer) in 1977 and, of course, burst to superstardom once she was paired with Anthony Geary‘s Luke Spencer. But the Luke and Laura days are behind us and Francis has stayed on the front burner with a juicy story involving a few brothers she didn’t know she had. The Emmy-winning actress took a break from the show this summer, but upon her recent return, we learned Laura has been in hiding with brother Martin (Michael E. Knight). Danger then found them last week in the form of Martin being attacked, and it may be time to head back home. In a chat with TV Insider, Francis talked about her love for Laura’s story with both Martin and villainous sibling Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). Of...

Broadway stars, celebrities and journalists are among those rebuking “Good Morning America” host Lara Spencer for laughing during a Thursday segment describing Prince George’s ballet classes.
“Lara, really?” asked Tony-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell in a video posted to Instagram Friday to address Spencer’s segment, during which she paused for laughter after announcing the prince was enrolled in ballet, then advised Prince William to “see how long that lasts.”
Mitchell continued, “Some of us take ballet. Some of us win Tony Awards ’cause we took ballet. Miss thing, it’s 2019. Get a life!”

The Big Bang Theory‘s success is thanks in no small part to its terrific cast — an ensemble that extends well beyond its seven series regulars.
Over the past 12 seasons and 277 episodes, the CBS sitcom has introduced myriad recurring characters that the audience has grown to love almost as much as Sheldon, Penny et al. Heartland is a film that will tear at you, but not for the reasons it hopes. At the heart of Heartland is a story about all the ache, frustration, and alienation the gay community struggles with and through, which would make for the indie gem of the year. Unfortunately, the film is so focused on belaboring the obvious and tired details of its setting, and it does so, somehow, from such an ingenuous perspective that it never really dives into its own effort.
Velinda Godfrey, who co-wrote (with Todd Waring), produced, and stars in Heartland, is Lauren, who we meet as she is suffering through her dying girlfriend’s last hours. With few options, and naturally distraught, she returns home to figure out what she’s going to do with herself. Unfortunately, her mother, Crystal (Beth Grant), is very religious, which means theirs is obviously a tricky relationship. As is perhaps not completely unusual,...

Bones said goodbye after 12 seasons on Tuesday night, with a series finale that paid tribute to the brilliant mind of Dr. Temperance Brennan, by showing what life would be like without it.
In the aftermath of the bombing at the Jeffersonian, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) thankfully survives -- as do Booth (David Boreanaz), Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) and Angela (Michaela Conlin) -- but she knows immediately that something’s wrong. Unable to remember what she was doing prior to the explosion or recall what the team was working on, Brennan tearfully insists to Booth that “something is wrong with me.”
And she’s right. Once the foursome escapes the rubble of the Medico-Legal Lab, Cam (Tamara Taylor) informs the forensic anthropologist that she has a contusion on her corpus callosum, the nerves that join the two hemispheres of the brain. Essentially, the brilliant scientist has lost her ability to process complex information, a devastating...

When Bones signs off on Tuesday night, after 12 seasons on Fox, it will do so as the network’s longest-running scripted drama, having solved -- according to finale promos -- 275 cases in 246 episodes. And that prolific conviction rate may not even be the most impressive thing that the series accomplished.
Because Bones -- which was based on the life and works of real-life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs -- did more than just stay on the air, leapfrogging more than 20 different time slots in its 12-year run. In a television landscape populated with morose antiheroes and sarcastic protagonists that often poke fun at the earnestness of cops-and-science procedurals like Bones, sometimes directly by name (see: American Dad, Bojack Horseman, Bob’s Burgers and more), the show was a champion of justice and evidence, science and guts, “brains and heart.” It told new stories every week, while at the same time unfolding its central characters little by little, making...

Bones set the stage for its series finale on Tuesday’s explosive penultimate episode, which, true to form for the long-running Fox procedural, combined the joy of a wedding with the terror of a killer on the loose. And everything ended with a bang.
The episode, titled “The Day in the Life,” flashed back and forward around the events of Cam (Tamara Taylor) and Arastoo’s (Pej Vahdat) reception, giving fans a chance to see the happy couple and all their friends and relatives -- Michelle! Felicia! Most of the old “squinterns!” -- celebrating their much-deserved bliss.
However, the honeymoon doesn’t last long, as the next morning Cam and Arastoo are summoned back to the Jeffersonian Institute’s Medico-Legal Lab, where, as Brennan (Emily Deschanel) puts it, “everything” has gone wrong.
