In the last few months, chef and philanthropist José Andrés’ nonprofit rapid-response group World Central Kitchen has continued its mission of delivering fresh meals to people in crisis zones all over the world, including in Acapulco, Mexico, following Hurricane Otis making landfall there on Oct. 25.

I see this simple truth time and time again. Guy Fieri has recently become a thing on social media. If you haven’t perused through TikTok to see him vibing at a rock concert, you might have seen one of his mock movie posters on Instagram. In August, Fieri inserted an image of himself over Brad Pitt on a prank poster for “Burger Train”; and in September, he photoshopped himself into a poster for “Don’t Worry Diner”, with the tagline “Welcome to Flavortown” and a caption that’s a wink and a nod to star Harry Styles’ now-infamous quotable from the Venice press conference.
Despite his love for movies, Fieri is no entertainment expert. When asked to play a game of pop culture trivia at breakfast at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, Fieri is unaware of Elton John’s new single with Britney Spears, though he thinks it’s cool, and responds, “When do we get to talk about food?...

This Lucifer review contains spoilers.
Lucifer Season 5 Episode 15
“He’s not trying to win an election; he’s trying to win a war.”
Lucifer does heartwarming and heart wrenching as well as any television series when the story requires it, but nothing adequately prepares us for the devastating news of Detective Daniel Espinoza’s death at the hands of mercenaries hired by Lucifer’s brother Michael. However, it’s the powerful, multi-layered narrative in the season’s penultimate episode that vaults “Is This Really How It’s Going To End?!” into rarified critical air leaving an impossibly high benchmark for others to aspire to. And, oh year, it appears the Book of Revelation may come true.
By its basic premise, the show’s writers turn the biblical story of the archangel Samael, aka Lucifer, on its head and weave an updated version that asks viewers to judge God’s most...

Bryan Voltaggio came into “Top Chef: All-Stars L.A.” as one of the most experienced competitors. He has competed on the show twice before, and finished in second place both times. Now it looks like he’s a dark horse to finally win, but based on the combined predictions of fans who have placed their bets here in our predictions center every week, it looks like he might be doomed to second place yet again.
As of this writing Melissa King is the front-runner to win. She previously competed in season 12 in Boston, where she finished fourth. But she currently gets leading odds of 5/2 this season because she has finally risen back to the top of the weekly challenges after experiencing a lengthy rough patch. After winning three of the first seven elimination challenges she was thrown off her game during “Restaurant Wars,” which was her first of three consecutive weeks at the bottom.

The original “Star Trek” had “The Trouble with Tribbles.” “Top Chef” Season 17 could have called its June 4 episode “The Trouble with Truffles.” Most of the five remaining All-Star competitors struggled somewhat during an elimination challenge that required a dish where the pricey woodland delicacy should have been the star. That the required element was white truffles rather than black was part of the problem since adding other heavy flavor elements in this case overwhelmed their taste.
Here’s the list of sins committed during the challenge, from the least to the worst:
— Melissa King: This San Francisco chef has wisely used her knowledge of traditional Asian dishes and cleverly repurposes them to incorporate what a challenge requires. She had a clear game plan, that she would bridge Asian and Italian while honoring the truffle. She made a Chinese rice porridge called congee and added a quail egg and a few other elements.

Does Brian Malarkey amuse you with his antics and ingredient overload in his dishes? Did you fall for Gregory Gourdet‘s epic efforts during Restaurant Wars? Did Melissa King‘s dishes make you want to lick your TV screen? Are you hoping that Bryan Voltaggio can join his brother Michael Voltaggio among the ranks of ‘Top Chef” winners? Or are you pulling for underdog Stephanie Cmar after her triumphant victory during the Kaiseki challenge last week?
Alas, only one person can reign as Top Chef in this highly competitive All-Star Season 17 and win a prize package that includes $250,000. However, you might still want to vote for one of them to win the title of “Top Chef” Fan Favorite this season. The chef who earns the most votes and earns the title will walk away with a $10,000 prize.

After winning the first elimination challenge of the season, Gregory Gourdet rose to the top of our “Top Chef” odds according to the combined predictions of fans who place their bets every week here in our predictions center. But after the second episode, “The Jonathan Gold Standard,” the balance of power has shifted. See where our racetrack odds stand now.
Gourdet did just fine in “Gold Standard,” making halibut, turmeric and tomato broth that passed muster with the judges well enough for him to advance him safely to the next round, but Bryan Voltaggio made the judges’ top three with his short ribs with charred eggplant puree, fermented radish and butternut squash vinaigrette. After that impressive showing he has shot to the top of our predictions with odds of 10/3.

It's one thing to cook dinner with limited time, special ingredients and a major prize package on the line – and Chef Michael Voltaggio, who beat out his own big brother, Bryan, to win season six of Bravo's Top Chef, knows exactly how to deliver that kind of meal under pressure.
It's a whole other world to take those culinary skills to more than a dozen conflict zones around the world and throw a dinner party for people who otherwise would be facing off over deep, sometimes century-old schisms.
That's why for Travel Channel's new docu-series, Breaking Borders, Voltaggio is paired with award-winning journalist Mariana van Zeller. Together they head directly to the heart of major global hot zones, from Egypt to Cuba to Northern Ireland, seeing first-hand – and for Voltaggio, for the first time – how locals eat, argue and try to make peace. It's an unlikely but effective approach, bolstered by Voltaggio's...

In the final part of its three-part finale, "Top Chef Boston" came down to the two most winning chefs: Gregory and Mei. Prior to the finale, Mei won or was in the top eight out of 12 challenges. Gregory won or was among the best seven out of 12 times. The shift from Boston to Mexico seemed to trip Mei up, and she nearly went home twice. But when it counted, Mei delivered, and became only the third female winner in 12 seasons of the Bravo show. Mei works for previous "Top Chef" winner Michael Voltaggio, and called him to tell him she won, and when she called him "chef," he corrected her and said, "you're the chef now; you're Top Chef." This season was relatively drama-free but not boring, because there was such consistently strong cooking during the creative challenges. At the very end, Tom Colicchio said he was thrilled with the finalists' "raw talent.

"Top Chef Boston" is the 12th season of Bravo's only remaining talent competition, unless "The Real Housewives" count as competitions for attention and screen time. Its first episode made a number of small changes that appeared designed to keep its contestants guessing. The premiere was also less about Boston and more about "Top Chef," as the show repeatedly pointed out its own successes. That started with the addition of new judge Richard Blais and continued with guest appearances from past contestants and one winner, and also included several contestants with ties to the show. For example, the winner of the first elimination challenge, Mei Lin, works with season-six winner Michael Voltaggio; the first person to go home, George, was Mike Isabella's business partner. Sudden death quickfire. The episode began with the potential for one chef to go home immediately. Teams of four shucked and filleted things in a mis en place relay,...

Oreo has released a web series that takes the sandwich cookie on gustatory adventures. In a series of Snack Hacks, renowned chefs teach viewers how to use Oreos for unusual culinary mash-ups. Snack Hacks features a few neat recipes that go far beyond the classic Oreo/milk combo. Eight short, silent videos give viewers the basic instructions for treats like Oreo freeze pops, Oreo popcorn, and Oreo tacos. Three more recent installments let profession chefs in on the fun: Nguyen Tran serves up an Oreo pudding, Michael Voltaggio concocts an Oreo-based shandy, and in my personally favorite, Roy Choi uses Golden Oreos as the breading for chicken cutlets. Snack Hacks does well to connect the Oreo to its fans on social media. The entire series is inspired by a single viral image, in which a resourceful eater showed how to use a fork to prevent your fingers from becoming littered with Oreo dust.

Watch out, Cap’n Crunch Buffalo chicken tenders — there’s a new stoner snack in town.
That’s right: The chicken strips pictured above are dredged in flour, dipped in an egg wash, then shaken in a plastic bag with a mixture of parsley, salt, pepper, panko breadcrumbs… and, oh yeah, 15 cookies’ worth of Oreo wafers. (The vanilla kind. You know, because using the chocolate kind would be gross.)
Here’s the secret about this admittedly weird-sounding concoction, though — it’s actually sort of delicious. I discovered as much a few days ago, when Oreo formally debuted a bunch of...

This week in Hollywood, the stars came out at the Los Angeles Mission for the La Mission's annual Thanksgiving for the homeless on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Above, "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris just proves once again how awesome he is as he works hard in the kitchen -- way to roll up your sleeves and jump right in, Nph.
Below, Kevin Nealon and chef Michael Voltaggio serve food, along with "Justified's" Kaitlyn Dever and Roma Downey below that. It's terrific to see celebrities giving back during the holidays.
But, much like that "Himym" episode where Ted and Robin can't serve food at the homeless shelter because it's too full on Thanksgiving, don't just volunteer during Thanksgiving. Hunger is a problem year-round, so think about volunteering at other times of the year too.
Happy Thanksgiving!
