★☆☆☆☆ Numerous derelict cinemas litter the opening of Paul Schrader's now-infamous The Canyons (2013), screening out of competition at this year's Venice Film Festival; and more may follow this portent omen of things to come. Make no mistake - Schrader's latest isn't Basic Instinct 2 bad or even quote-a-long bad, as in the case of cult sensation The Room. Instead, it's just utterly incompetent in every possible way imaginable. Nolan Gerard Funk stars as Ryan, a young actor looking to make it big in Hollywood, who has just landed a role in a low-budget horror movie through his girlfriend, Gina (Amanda Brooks).
The film is being financed by Christian (porn-star James Deen), his girlfriend's rich boss. The Canyons begins with an excruciatingly awkward dinner, with Christian in a boastful mood and his girlfriend Tara (Lindsay Lohan) texting beside him. It turns out that Tara and Christian were once swingers. At this stage,...

‘American Idol’ auditions are over and Feb. 6 marked the first night of Hollywood Week. It was just the guys this week, as the women will audition next week. See who’s going on and who had their dreams shattered.
The men took the stage in front of judges Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson, and the stress of the group auditions took their toll on the remaining contestants.
The contestants sang a capella first, hoping to get a yes from the judges.
We had to say an early goodbye to Dustin Watts and Dr. Calvin Peters, among many others. Those who did make it through went onto the hardest part of the competition — group night.
A Surprise Twist In The Competition
As cliques start to form, the producers announce there will be a twist. Nigel Lythgoe tells the contestants that the producers will be forming the groups!

On Monday night's episode of 'MasterChef' (Tue., 9Pm Et on Fox), the judges shocked everyone by sending no one home. Adrien and Christian were the last two chefs standing before the judge, which means both of them had to work extra hard Tuesday night to ensure they wouldn't get noticed again for all the wrong reasons.
!!Spoiler Alert!!
The box challenge presented the contestants with surf and turf and elevated Adrien toward the top, alongside Suxy and Jennifer. To help Christian with his attitude toward Jennifer, Gordon Ramsay had him evaluate her food. After giving it lukewarm reviews, Ramsay yelled at him a bit and then declared Jennifer the winner.

Wendy Williams and partner Tony Dovolani were voted off Dancing with the Stars in week 3, and this was hardly a shocker. Scoring a sorry 15, the spread between her and Sugar Ray and Romeo, both tied at 20, was too wide to overcome. While Wendy certainly had a Wendy Williams Show fanbase, apparently she was not a Dwts fan or judge favorite.
The other two couples who found themselves in jeopardy were Kendra Wilkinson & Louis Van Amstel and Chris Jericho & Cheryl Burke. And then the heart thumping moment came down to Wendy and Chris. See the video below. Host Tom Bergeron was quick to point out that Wendy and Chris were not necessarily the bottom two, even though one of them was definitely going home. I really don't know how that's possible. If Wendy wasn't in the bottom, why would she be eliminated? I have to assume the comment was more for Chris and Cheryl's benefit.

Thank you, ‘American Idol’ star Chris Medina, who unfortunately didn’t make it into the Top 24. It took your brave story to shake J-Lo into a sobbing breakdown.
And it was about time that Jennifer Lopez, who has lived in a charmed superstar world for years now, was touched by an “ordinary”, non-Hollywood human being.
Chris Medina is the courageous 26-year-old barista from Milwaukee who has been singing his heart out for his beautiful paraplegic fiancee, Juliana Ramos. Juliana and Chris were engaged when she was gravely injured in a car accident and almost died. Though Chris was warned that she probably wouldn’t make it, he remained by her side, praying for a miracle.
Would J-Lo herself have ever been able to say a sentence of pure love and selfishness — “what kind of guy would I be if I walked out, when she needed me most”?
Listen, I know J-Lo loves her children,...

Slightly different from our usual posts but I love the Apprentice so much I thought I’d put up a post with a sort of review of the finale of the 2010 series.
So, the evening we were all waiting for got off to a flying start (well, sort of, five minutes later after the Sports Personality of the Year finished late) with Stella English and Chris Bates who I recently found out comes from just down the road from me in Epsom.
The task Lord Sugar came up with was for the two teams to create a spirt based drink for the over 25s and to retail at £20 with just three days to do it. The strange thing that we immediately noticed was that Stuart Baggs aka “The Brand” (did you know he’s only 21?!) (Just found out he wasn’t invited back) who left the show in rather spectacular...

Sandeesh Samra was fired by Lord Alan Sugar on last night’s (17.11.10) ‘The Apprentice’.
The 26-year-old recruitment consultant faced the wrath of the business magnate in the boardroom for the third time after failing to produce adequate results as project manager for Synergy, causing the group to lose out to their rivals Apollo.
Despite her team’s failure, Sandeesh admitted she “stitched herself up” by taking investment bankers Liz Locke and Chris Bates into the boardroom with her, when she should have chosen “irritating” property developer Jamie Lester.
She exclusively told Bang Showbiz: “I think I kind of stitched myself up really with who I chose to take into the boardroom. At the time, Liz and Chris were the only two people I thought I could have feasibly taken in.
“Looking back on it, I think Lord Sugar was hinting that I should have taken Jamie in with me because he was an irritant.

Chris Pine is in discussions to join the cast of 'Welcome to People'. The 'Star Trek' actor is reported to be in early talks to join the cast of the drama, the directorial debut of Alex Kurtzman. If Chris were to accept the role, it would be the second time he has worked with Kurtzman, who co-wrote the screenplay for 2009's 'Star Trek'. The movie tells the tale of a man who delivers $150,000 to an alcoholic sister he didn't know he had following the death of his father. While visiting, the young man also gets involved with his ''angry'' 12-year-old ..
