Two years ago, Safe Room Podcast began with a discussion about the Resident Evil series for its 25th anniversary. So for the milestone of 100 episodes, it felt fitting to return to the Resi well once more. Yeah, we’ve returned a few times in 100 episodes, but it’s a deep and lucrative well!
We’ve talked about a lot of Resident Evil games, but what are our personal favorites? There’s some obvious answers of course. But in creating our Top 10s, we found just how diverse two people’s favorites in a series can be.
Safe Room is a weekly horror video game discussion podcast with new episodes every Monday on
iTunes/Apple, Sticher, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Linktree for additional streaming services.
Feel free to follow the show and hosts on Twitter:

Before tuning into this week’s discussion, make sure to checkout last week’s episode in which Rob Coakley of Hometown Ghost Stories joined us to chat all about the Resident Evil 2 remake!
When most genre fans hear “adaptation,” their minds likely jump straight to film adaptations of games.
And I don’t know if you know this or not, but people have feelings about video game movies.
Neil and I discussed that very topic early on in Safe Room’s history. So we were elated when Dread Xp writer Ian Marvin reached out to us expressing interest in chatting about the other side of the adaptation coin:
That being horror films adapted into games.
When you stop and think about it, chances are you’ll be able to recall at least a handful of games originating from film. Sure, games such as The Thing, The Blair Witch Project,...

Before diving into our Resident Evil 2 Safe Room episode, be sure to listen to this month’s edition of the indie horror showcase Horror Bytes!
Without an ounce of hyperbole, playing Resident Evil 2 was a life-changing experience for me.
Despite coming to Capcom’s revered sequel far too late, Resident Evil 2 gave me my first taste of what M-rated games had in store for me. By this point in my adolescents, I had been covertly watching horror films (secretly gifted by my grandparents) in my living room until the wee hours of the morning.
Night of the Living Dead, The Fly, and The Thing were trauma-inducing but formative films that I became fascinated by, much to my parent’s dismay. But as far as games went at this time, my horror gaming experiences were relatively tame. I ravenously consumed classics such as Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Doom,...
