Meg Stalter is taking the lead in her latest feature “Cora Bora.”
The comedy, which premiered at the 2023 SXSW Festival, stars the “Hacks” breakout actress as the titular musician who goes home to win back her girlfriend only to realize it’s much more than her love life that needs salvaging.
Hannah Pearl Utt directs the comedy from a script by Rhianon Jones. The cast includes Jojo T. Gibbs, Manny Jacinto, Ayden Mayeri, Thomas Mann, Chrissie Fit, Andre Hyland, Margaret Cho, Chelsea Peretti, and Darrell Hammond. The film features original music and a score composed by indie artist Miya Folick.
“I’m thrilled for audiences to get to see Meg in a leading role and to fall for her character the way I have,” director Utt said in a press statement.
The IndieWire review called Stalter a “whirlwind and a universe unto herself” who boasts “her unique brand of uncomfortably confident loser” onscreen.

ABC has no current plans to bring its Match Game revival hosted by Alec Baldwin back for another season.
The game show, which last aired in summer 2021, was not renewed last May when ABC made the bulk of its pickups for the 2021-22 season. Match Game also was not renewed in late fall when the network typically makes its pickups for the following summer. It was around the same time that Baldwin was involved in the deadline shooting accident on the Rust set, which remains under investigation, with multiple lawsuits filed.
Hosted and executive produced by Baldwin, the new Match Game premiered in June 2016. The show is produced by Fremantle; it is unclear whether the company would pursue a new season elsewhere following its cancellation by ABC, firts reported by Variety. After announcing its relaunch earlier this month, 1091, which was formally known as The Orchard Film Group, has made its first acquisition, snagging North American distribution rights to the Hannah Pearl Utt-directed Sundance film, Before You Know It. Utt, who made her directorial debut with this feature, also stars opposite Jen Tullock, Judith Light, Mandy Patinkin, Mike Colter, and Alec Baldwin. 1091 is aiming to release the film in theaters sometime during the second half of 2019.
Written by Utt and Tullock, the pic thrusts co-dependent, thirty-something sisters Rachel and Jackie Gurner into a literal soap opera after a long-kept family secret is revealed, taking them on a journey that proves that you really can come of age, at any age.
Mallory Schwartz, Josh Hetzler, and James Brown produced the project. Executive producers are Giri Tharan, Donna and Kevin Gruneich, Eric and Susan Fredston-Hermann, Mary Jane Skalski, Robin Bronk, Tim Daly, and Brian DeVine.

The 2019 Sundance Film Festival has unveiled their impressive lineup of independent films.
I love going to Sundance. It’s one of my favorite movie events to attend. One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is because they are all fresh and original films that tell original stories! For the most part there aren’t a lot of remakes, reboots, and sequels, which are mostly the kinds of films that fill theaters these days.
On top of that, you never know what you’re going to get when you walk into a screening. It could be complete and utter crap, or it could be one of the best films you’ve ever seen. It’s thrilling!

Alec Baldwin has landed primetime real estate on ABC for an interview show to air Sunday nights at 10 p.m. in the fall.
“The Alec Baldwin Show” had a test drive (as “Sundays with Alec Baldwin”) on March 4, when it aired as part of ABC’s post-Academy Awards telecast package. ABC’s scheduling decision marks a rare example of a talk show in primetime on a Big Four network. But the Sunday 10 p.m. time slot has been such a challenge for ABC in recent years that there’s not much to lose by giving Baldwin a shot.
The last unscripted talk-based program to air on broadcast TV was NBC’s experiment with “The Jay Leno Show” as a Monday-Friday talk-variety vehicle in the fall of 2009. That show ended after five months, setting off the battle between Leno and Conan O’Brien for the helm of the “Tonight Show.”

Above Average is no stranger to really amazing comedy pieces. The online video branch of Saturday Night Live’s production company Broadway Video is continuing the laugh-fest by releasing Alec Baldwin’s new relationship web series Alec Baldwin’s Love Ride. In Love Ride, Baldwin stars as an “internationally-recognized relationship expert.” The 30 Rock actor invites couples into the back of his taxi cab in New York City. Aided by behind-the-scenes love advisor and Saturday Night Live sketch writer Paula Pell, Baldwin discusses “sex, take-out food, binge-viewing Broad City,” and other elements that hold people’s relationships together. The first couple to be quizzed is Corey and Francesca. “In my life, I've always wanted to help people avoid some of the mistakes I've made,” says Baldwin to Corey and Francesca, a rather honest admission for an otherwise amusing and light-hearted web series. Love Ride is the brainchild of Baldwin, who co-produces...
