Taking the slasher genre to both literal and metaphorical new heights, Ridley Scott’s Alien set the blueprint for sci-fi horror. Released nearly 40 years ago, much of Alien’s claustrophobic, isolated dread can be attributed to Jerry Goldsmith’s brooding, almost maniacal score. As Mondo is gearing up to release the 4Lp expanded score, the label recruited Tyler Stout for the art direction. With a cult following and bewitching back catalogue of work, his trademark new retro style is the perfect breeding ground to bring Alien to life.
“The Alien franchise is custom-made for me,” notes Tyler as he reflects on how he got involved in the project. “I’m 40 years old, collect video games and comic books, I’ve worked at three different video rental stores in my life and didn’t have a girlfriend till I was 25, and I married her. I even have the 1979 Kenner Alien toy,...

Last year marked the 35th anniversary of Alien, the classic sci-fi horror film from Ridley Scott. Artist Jacob Bills created a set of Family Guy Star Wars trilogy poster art. Over the years Family Guy has hilariously parodied the Star Wars films in three specials titled Blue Harvest, Something Something Something Dark Side, and It’s a Trap. The style of this art might look familiar to some of you, and that's because it was inspired by artist Tyler Stout. You can see his Star Wars posters here. Bills had this to say in a statement:
First off, let me thank everyone for all the kind words about the Family Guy posters I’ve been working on for the past few years. And you read that right, years… looking back at the first file it was finished in July 2012. Though it took me so long to finish these, seeing everyone enjoying them really makes all the time and effort I poured into them worthwhile.

While there are rumblings that we could get a teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII before the end of the year, we're not going to hold out breath. In the meantime though, we've got a cool Star Wars related batch of artwork inspired by the "Family Guy" spoofs that Seth MacFarlane has created for the entire original trilogy. The three hour-long specials are rife with great parody and traditional "Family Guy" humor, and artist Jacob Bills has decided to pay tribute to the whole animated parody trilogy with posters for each installment inspired by the Star Wars trilogy posters crafted by Mondo artist Tyler Stout. Look below! With Comic-Con happening last weekend and Guardians of the Galaxy opening this weekend, it was a perfect synergistic convergence for Mondo to whip up some Guardians of the Galaxy posters to sell at Comic-Con. Unfortunately, these are already sold out, but we can still look at them longingly and imagine how great it would be if we could be together. Not like that. Like on a wall. In a room that I am in… Anyway. There are posters for the whole team, each individual Guardian, and everyone’s favorite sentient tree-illegally altered anthropomorphic raccoon bromance, Grocket. This week, Christie’s, the world’s largest fine arts auction house, is hosting an inaugural online-only sale of what are billed as Vintage Film Posters, though it is an eclectic collection of old and new. There are plenty of familiar faces, like Reynold Brown’s Attack of the 50Ft. Woman, Saul Bass’s The Man With the Golden Arm, Giorgio Olivetti’s La Dolce Vita, Bob Peak’s My Fair Lady, and Philip Castle’s Clockwork Orange, but what is interesting in terms of the auction market is the inclusion of a number of recent Mondo posters by Tyler Stout, Todd Slater and Laurent Durieux. The auction also includes La Boca’s already-classic, four-year-old set of silkscreen teasers for Black Swan.
