Contains major spoilers for Marcella season two.
Obviously, obviously Marcella should not have been welcomed back to work after the events of season one. That’s a given.
Investigating your husband’s mistress’ murder while being unable to rule out the possibility that it was you who’d killed her? Not optimum police work. Using insider access to destroy CCTV evidence showing that, in a fugue state, you’d taken said mistress’ corpse from the murder scene and buried it in the woods? Somebody fire this cop.
Add to that finding the real killer (10 points!) but then almost suffocating him to death in another fugue state (-1000 points), and still the Hr Department at Edgware Road Police Station didn’t suggest early retirement for DS Backland. Back she came for season two, very much the ‘hold my beer’ season of crazy pulp crime TV.

What happened in Marcella series 1? With series 2 arriving today, here's a reminder of the main action. Spoilers ahead...
Warning: contains massive spoilers for Marcella series one (obviously).
See related Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 episodes 1 & 2 review: Orientation
The first thing to know about Marcella, the TV detective played by Anna Friel in her eponymous 2016 ITV series, is that it’s pronounced Mar-chella as in cherry, not Mar-cella as in Marcel Marceau. Lock that down and you’re on your way.
The next thing to know about Marcella is that she suffers from dissociative fugue, a psychiatric disorder that causes her to enter an amnesiac, often violent state at moments of intense stress. This means that Marcella can suddenly wake up after several hours utterly baffled as to what’s happened or why, much like the viewer after the series one finale.

Santana, Lauren Cohan and Grace Gibson. See Video: Tupac Biopic: Get First Long.

The life of rapper Tupac Shakur has come to the big screen before in the Oscar-nominated documentary “Tupac: Resurrection,” but like Biggie Smalls in “Notorious” and N.W.A. in last year’s breakout hit “Straight Outta Compton,” the rapper is finally getting the biopic treatment with the upcoming feature “All Eyez On Me.” A new trailer for the drama hit the web yesterday to mark the 20th anniversary of Tupac’s death, and it features a great ensemble charting the rapper/actor’s rags-to-riches rise and fall.

Twenty years ago today, the world lost one of its strongest voices, Tupac Shakur. To commemorate the anniversary of his death, after an initial teaser, a second red band teaser has been unveiled for his biopic All Eyez On Me. Helmed by Benny Boom (an incredible director name, if I may say so), Eyez is a chronicling of the life and music of one of the most seminal rappers ever to touch the mic.
Newcomer Demetrius Shipp stars as Tupac (and looks an uncanny amount like the late rapper), who grows up seeing a life of police brutality and violence in his neighborhood, and decides to fight back through his music — as well as telling his story by “painting a picture with a pen.” Check out the new teaser below, along with the first poster.

“American Sniper” star Cory Hardrict has been cast to play Haitian Jack in the Tupac Shakur biopic, “All Eyez on Me,” TheWrap has learned. Haitian Jack was known for his extortion tactics in the hip-hop community and was considered one of the most feared men on the streets. Shakur accused Jack of orchestrating the 1994 shooting that left the rapper shot, robbed and near death at New York’s Quad Recording Studios in his song, “Against All Odds.” Hardrict joins the previously announced cast of Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Grace Gibson and Demetrius Shipp Jr., who is set to play Tupac Shakur,...

Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter
Scoot McNairy ("Monsters," "Argo") has joined the Jody Hill comedy "The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter" alongside Josh Brolin and Danny McBride. McBride, Hill, Scott Rudin and David Gordon Green are producing.
The story follows a sixth-grade boy who is supposed to be bonding with his father on a hunting trip, but is far from interested. McNairy will film that and the Darren Aronofsky-produced, Arnold Schwarzenegger-led thriller "478" before he shoots the third season of AMC's "Halt And Catch Fire". [Source: Deadline]
Supergirl
Daniel Dimaggio ("A Tiger's Tale," "Divide & Conquer") is set to play an adolescent version of Kal-El (Superman) in the February 8th episode of CBS's "Supergirl" series". Young Kal-El will be introduced via a string of flashbacks to establish the bond between him and Kara.

Grace Gibson has been cast as Faith Evans, Biggie Smalls’ wife, in the Tupac Shakur biopic “All Eyez on Me,” TheWrap has learned. Jamal Woolard will reprise his role from 2009’s “Notorious” as Smalls, a friend-turned-rival of fellow rapper Shakur. It has been widely reported that a photo of Shakur with Evans contributed to the falling out between the two rappers and convinced Smalls that his wife was cheating on him with Shakur. Kasi Lemmons, director of Eve's Bayou and Talk to Me, chose a play by poet Langston Hughes as the basis for her new movie. Black Nativity is first and foremost a musical, featuring original pieces of music as well as new arrangements of familiar hymns and carols. Lemmons even co-wrote some of the songs, with Raphael Saadiq producing the music (he shares the "Music by" credit with composer Laura Karpman).
The music is the best thing about Black Nativity. Without the songs it would likely be a far more disappointing movie, as you can see plot lines coming from a mile away. There are a couple times when a character says something that punches you in the gut with its earnestness, but otherwise the story is as ridiculous as it is predictable.
Langston, a fatherless kid from Baltimore played by young Jacob Latimore, is sent to live with grandparents he's never met.
