Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“It did feel like the Avengers assembling,” said executive producer Sam Rees-Jones of casting the first all-celebrity edition of “The Traitors” on Peacock. “We knew in Season 2 we wanted to assemble an all celebrity cast knowing that that would create a buzz as well, and would help build on the success of Season 1,” said executive producer Mike Cotton.
The pair, based in the United Kingdom, told IndieWire over Zoom that another key change for the second season of the reality competition series where “faithful” contestants try to weed out who among them are traitors before the latter steal all the money they earned from completing missions was changing the way in which the episodes were rolled out.

The legacy of Marvel is embedded in the arc of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as Iron Man and Captain America respectively and no one cares less about their impact than Christian Bale. The actor who once portrayed an iconic DC character himself – came out the other end branded as a legend who never knew where to start when it came to Marvel.
Chris Evans as Captain America in Civil War [Credit: Marvel Studios]However, with time, even that line blurred a little when Bale was cast to play Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder – a role that was rightfully inducted while the rest of the movie got butchered critically. As an official entrant into the Marvel universe, it is time to throw Bale under the microscope and study the indifference with which he handled an era of Cbm icons that had such a hold over the entire world for 11 straight years.

Like a benevolent mama wishing only good things for her pretty babies, I watch Bridgerton wanting happy endings for all. Let Simon fill Daphne to the brim with heirs! May Anthony and Kate travel the world having hot pagoda sex on every continent with a suitable climate! Give Penelope and Colin a lucrative publishing contract each and a carriage of their own in which to manually stimulate one another on night-time rides around Mayfair! Joy and fulfilment for all.
The fate of their book counterpart doesn’t come into it. If there’s a better future out there away from the pages of Julia Quinn’s novels, then have at it, my loves.
For instance, if TV Benedict Bridgerton decides that no, he won’t abduct, blackmail and coerce his future wife after saving her from a horrendous sexual assault, I say go on,...

This Doctor Who article contains spoilers.
Back in 2012, Doctor Who fans freaked out. We’d been told in advance that Clara (Jenna Coleman) would eventually replace Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) as the next companion of the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in series 7 of the show. But fans weren’t prepared for just how soon Coleman would make her Doctor Who debut. Although she wouldn’t officially join Matt Smith in the Tardis until a few episodes later, Coleman first appeared in the series 7 premiere “Asylum of the Daleks” as a seemingly different character named Oswin, who, although she met a tragic end, encouraged the Doctor to remember her.
And now, 12 years later, it looks like Who history is repeating itself. In the absolutely wonderful Steven Moffat-penned episode, “Boom,” the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) encounters a host of new allies, including a marine named Mundy. For fans of Star Wars: Andor,...

In The Acolyte, Jedi are being killed — but who’s doing the killing? That appears to be one of the central mysteries of the show… and believe it or not, the answer might already be right in front of us. Here’s why we think we might’ve unmasked The Acolyte’s Sith Lord. A Key Sith Phrase In The Acolyte’s second trailer, there’s either an obvious clue about the Sith Lord’s identity or a massive misdirect. When we see Manny Jacinto’s character, Qimir, he tells Mae (Amandla Stenberg) that “peace is a lie.” That particular choice of words pricked up the ears of many a Star Wars fan, who recognized it as the first line of the Code of the Sith. The Spider-Verse gives, and the Spider-Verse takes away. According to Deadline, the live-action TV series "Silk: Spider Society" is dead on arrival after years of development. Earlier this week, MGM+ and Prime Video (which were set to be the streaming home for the series) announced that Nicolas Cage will be starring in his own live-action Spider-Verse spinoff, "Noir," but didn't give any updates on "Silk" a series that was set to shine a spotlight on Korean-American spider-powered hero Cindy Moon. Rights for the character are reportedly set to revert back to Sony Pictures Television, which will continue looking for a home for the show.
Deadline says the series is no more, and their sources vary when it comes to the reason "Silk" isn't moving forward. However, the show has publicly gone through some turnover since even before it was first officially greenlit in 2022. Back in 2018, "Silk" was rumored to be...

Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries is set to launch two new comedy podcasts, both humorously anchored in nature. Tiny Dinos premiered on May 7, with episodes dropping weekly on Tuesdays; and Walkin’ About on May 15, 2024, with episodes dropping weekly on Wednesdays. Both series will be available on major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.
McKay says: “Connor, James and Allan are all very talented comedians, and Lord knows we all can use some laughter these days. But they’re also asking questions that boldly challenge the international corporate power structure like ‘What happens if I start taking regular walks?’ And ‘What would happen if we brought dinosaurs back but they were super tiny?’”

Silk: Spider Society, the Sony Pictures series that had Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) on board as executive producers, is no longer moving forward on Prime Video.
The announcement comes just days after Amazon confirmed that the Sony-produced Spider-Man Noir show starring Nicolas Cage is officially in development. No official reason for Silk being scrapped was provided, but Deadline has heard that the decision "likely lies in the show’s tortured development history."
Apparently, the project went through at least three versions, one of which "involved a request for Angela Kang and her writing team to reconfigure the show so it is not hanging so heavily on the central character of Silk."
Former The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang was brought on to oversee Silk: Spider Society, which was marketed as "the first in an expected slate of Marvel TV series based on the Sony...

The “Silk: Spider Society” live-action series has been scrapped at Amazon.
The show was originally greenlit in November 2022 in a deal with Sony Pictures Television to develop a suite of shows based on Marvel characters that Sony controls. It was meant to debut on the MGM+ linear channel domestically before a global launch on Prime Video.
“The Walking Dead” alum Angela Kang was onboard as executive producer and showrunner, with Kang also signing a multi-year overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios in the process. Kang will continue under that deal. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal were also executive producers on the series. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Sony will try to shop the series to other buyers.

The writing was basically on the wall for this one.
Amazon’s Marvel drama Silk: Spider Society — from producers Sony Pictures Television — is no longer moving forward at the streamer. Sources say Sony TV, which owns rights to a fraction of the Marvel universe that features more than 900 characters, plans to shop the drama series from former Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang. Kang, who departed her pact with AMC for what sources say is an eight-figure deal with Amazon, remains housed at the streamer and will continue to develop projects for the company.
Reps for Amazon and Sony declined to comment.
The decision to scrap Silk comes a mere two days after Amazon, during its first in-person pitch to Madison Avenue ad buyers, announced a Sony-produced Marvel series Noir, starring Nicolas Cage.
Noir, like Silk, is poised to launch first on Amazon’s linear network, MGM+, before debuting on the streamer.

It's an uncertain time for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Marvel Studios looking to get back to quality over quantity, we're expecting sweeping changes to be made to the Multiverse Saga slate, with D23 or Comic-Con the most likely destinations for an update.
However, we're not the only ones wondering what's next. Talking to The Playlist, Benedict Cumberbatch was asked what he knows of Doctor Strange 3.
"Who knows," he responded when they wondered whether it would be released before the next Avengers movies. As for the former Sorcerer Supreme's role in those, Cumberbatch added, "We will see. We will find out. I’m not sure where he’s been and what he’s been up to and who with, but yeah, I know as little as you."

In games made by Hidetaka Miyazaki, one can always find the threads of narration and storytelling woven together in a complicated manner, leaving all the players on their own accord to theorize and fill the gaps left by the studio. One such theory that has arisen recently goes over how one of the endings from Demon’s Souls, the director’s first Dark Fantasy game laid the foundation for one of his most famous pieces of work yet.
Cover for Demon’s Souls
Released in 2009, Demon’s Souls became known for punishing players with an intense difficulty level, which attracted many for a change. However, how the game offers multiple endings has caused fans to speculate how one of them leads to the setting of the Dark Souls trilogy.

This season of Bridgerton shows the characters wrestling with old misconceptions, inconvenient new emotions, and even a hot air balloon.
Bridgerton Season 3 Episode 3 seems to pick up right where Episode 2 left off, with Colin Bridgerton standing once again in Penelope Featherington's nighttime garden.
This time, though, it is he who speaks first, confessing that he has been consumed by their first kiss and cannot rest without another.
Unfortunately, it's just a dream; Colin wakes from a sweat-drenched sleep in an empty bed.
There is still excitement to be had in the waking world, though. Preparations are underway for a hot air balloon exhibition that most of the ton will attend.
Before all of that commences, Penelope is surprised by a morning visit from Eloise, who wishes to apologize for her part in the rumor about Colin and Pen getting out.

And orchestras are tuning up their violins to incongruously pump out Miley Cyrus tunes to get the Ton leaping. In short: it’s new Bridgerton time.
But one mustn’t step into the new season without doing ones homework. In Regency society, remember, knowledge is power. Find out if you’re a dullard or a diamond by taking our 20-question Bridgerton quiz. Queen Charlotte awaits your results!

The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

Tori Roloff is under fire for “keeping” her husband, Zach Roloff, away from his family.
Little People, Big World viewers know that the Roloff family has faced some major drama in recent years.
When Matt Roloff listed the family’s farmhouse for sale and then as a vacation property, it caused tensions among his twin sons, Jeremy and Zach.
Lpbw fans always assumed that Matt would leave the property to one of his and Amy’s four kids, but it didn’t happen that way.
The negotiations became so intense that Zach stopped speaking to his dad and Matt’s fiancee, Caryn Chandler, and even moved his family to Washington, over an hour away from Roloff Farms.
Since then, Tori and Zach have faced some major heat for keeping their distance from Matt and Caryn, and it isn’t dying down.

Little People, Big World star Amy Roloff celebrated Mother’s Day this year, but not all of the kids were there. With Zach and Tori living in Washington, it’s not so easy to always be around for special events. In the past, Jeremy and Zach’s birthday fell on Mother’s Day, but this year it didn’t. However, someone else also celebrated a birthday.
Amy Roloff & Matt Roloff Shared About Mother’s Day
Four years ago, Mother’s Day was also Jeremy and Zach Roloff’s birthday. Birthday greetings were exchanged, and the Lpbw grandma took the time to wish mothers and grandmothers a wonderful day to celebrate themselves. It wasn’t clear what everyone did on that day, but possibly, they all got together at some stage.

Things are certainly looking more positive for Penelope Featherington on the marriage mart in Bridgerton season 3. However, one thing fans can't put their finger on is, was Lord Debling in the Bridgerton books?
Penelope spent three seasons on the marriage mart, coming out with no prospects, but this third season sets a different tone with Lord Debling and Colin Bridgerton in the picture.
Find out more about Debling's role and existence here.
Lord Debling — Is He Canon in the Bridgerton Novels or Not?
There's no question that Bridgerton season 3 would see Penelope Featherington end up with her longtime, one-sided love with Colin Bridgerton.
However, let's not forget that Colin is never one to make haste when it comes to realizing his feelings. So he would definitely require some sort of metaphorical push towards Pen.

House of the Dragon season 1 introduced us to House Velaryon, an old Valyrian House whose members are master seafarers. The seat of House Velaryon is on Driftmark, with the head of the House holding the title “Lord of the Tides.”
In season 1, the Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), held this title. Though the title was to pass to his son Ser Laenor, we witnessed the Velaryon lord fleeing the land of Westeros. This left Corlys without an heir.
However, we will see events from George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood come to life in House of the Dragon Season 2. The show will introduce two new characters from the town of Hull on Driftmark.
The first, Addam of Hull, will fight for the Blacks as a dragonrider. His brother Alyn Velaryon, also called Alyn Oakenfist and Alyn of Hull, however, has a different destiny. The latest House of...

It’s been more than a year since ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.’ was released. It marked the end of the team as we knew it, and it was also the last movie that Gunn would direct for the MCU before he transitioned full-time into helming the newly established Dcu.
Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord got the ending he deserved, he lost the girl but gained something much better, the opportunity to figure out what he lost when he was abducted by Yondu. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was always intended to be the final Gotg movie (at least for the foreseeable future), and it served as a fitting send-off for the team - but it did also lay the groundwork for potential follow-ups/spin-offs at the same time.
One post-credits scene introduced a new incarnation of the Guardians led by Rocket Raccoon, and the other teased the possibility of a solo Star-Lord adventure, with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather.
Director James Gunn has previously addressed that final "The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return" title card, and it sounds like there are (or were) indeed tentative plans in place for a spin-off focusing on Quill's effort to adapt to life back on Terra.
"Oh, but not quite over. We always want to give somebody a little something special. And Chris and I, forever, have talked...

House of the Dragon’s grand battle between the Blacks and the Greens is a month away from finally arriving on the screens and the whole tension may grow dramatically due to an unexpected shift among the teams’ members.
Though Season 1 showed quite a solid image of both sides’ allies, things can take a more serious turn should Game of Thrones’ prequel decide to follow its original source.
So far House of the Dragon didn’t stick too much to George R.R. Martin’s book series and there can be a reason for it. The show’s upcoming sequel will let the fight for the ultimate power finally unfold with both sides getting protection and support from allies.
As the most rightful heir to the throne, Rhaenyra Targaryen is backed by the House of Velaryon with lord Corlys Velaryon in its head, but the latter’s beliefs can be very flexible once his priorities change.

Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes religious music. Madonna’s “Holiday” probably wouldn’t make the cut for most people. Despite this, two musicians have claimed that the song was an act of God. You don’t get much more religious than that.
1 of the writers of Madonna’s ‘Holiday’ said every songwriter receives a song from God
“Holiday” was co-written by Curtis Hudson and Lisa Stevens. During a 2012 interview with Blogcritics, Hudson had an interesting explanation of the song’s origins. “There are certain songs that God gives you as a writer,” he said. “‘Holiday’ was a gift. From our hard work out of the hundreds of songs we worked on, he looked down and said, ‘I’m gonna bless you with this song.’ I think that happens to all writers at some point.”
Stevens had a similar view of the track. “We always felt like it...
