Review of Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins (1964)
The best Disney movie ever. Period.
24 July 2002
This is the greatest Disney movie in the history of the world. (I am watching it on DVD as I type, and it still never gets old.) The special effects are wonderful, especially for the pre-Roger Rabbit time period. Dick van Dyke's accent isn't good, but nevertheless he is still hilarious in dual roles as Bert and Mr. Dawes. Of course, no live action Disney movie of the time would be complete without a cameo of Ed Wynn, in this case as Uncle Albert.

Interesting how Julie Andrews got this role because she was turned down for My Fair Lady, not considered "Movie material" by Jack Warner. And then she beat Audrey Hepburn as Best Actress. Who's "Movie material" now, Jack?
