One of Alan Rickman's Finest Works
8 July 2004
I adore this movie. Alan Rickman is superb as the "Revolutionary Witness." He gives basically a one-man show and is quite moving. He conveys the unrest of the French Revolution and his character's view of it. Mr. Rickman's passion as an actor comes through loudly and clearly. He is very convincing as Jacques Roux, and outdoes himself in this performance. The Man can do no wrong. He is the supreme actor and this performance lets all of us know his great talent. Everyone must see this. This would be excellent to use in a History class as well. I had a much better understanding of this person's lot on life since Alan Rickman's character is based on a real person. Alan Rickman does not disappoint anyone with this wonderful portrayal of Jacques Roux. I love the fact that his dog, George, is also included in the homily. Rickman looks great as a Preacher. He can preach to me anytime.
