Review of Fushigi Yûgi - The Mysterious Play

The story of a girl who gets pulled into the story of an ancient Chinese book, Fushigi Yuugi includes romance, action, adventure, and some nasty bad guys. 52 episodes long, but they go by pretty quickly. Miaka and Yui are two best friends who go to the library to study for their high school entrance exams. They find the ancient book and are pulled into it and back into what looks like ancient China. Eventually, both girls become revered figures in two different countries in that book, but they become enemies. Each girl has seven protectors, or seishi, to help her. These seishi are VERY interesting characters. You'll love 'em or hate 'em! And there are those you'll love to hate. Slightly predictable but overall, a very satisfying series to watch!
