Review of Marker

Marker (1995)
Short lived and sorely missed
14 July 2002
A short lived series on what would come to be known as UPN, Marker was a clever and fun detective show that was never really given a fair chance.

From the kinds of roles he's been stuck doing, one would think Richard Grieco wasn't a very good actor, but he is very underrated. Best known as hunk cop "Booker" (bad boy foil to Johnny Depp) from 21 Jump Street and later from his own short lived TV series "Booker", Grieco turns in solid performances again and again. He is best suited to television, where his good looks can charm the ladies.

Marker centered around Grieco as "Richard DeMorra", a kind of semi-loser type who had a major falling out with his extremely rich father years back. When his father dies, Richard is left a series of markers, which his father gave out to people he liked that they could then cash in at any time for a favor.

The writing was good, and the not-quite-a-detective storyline was very original. The markers were great storyline props.

Disappointing it ended so soon.
