not too good
9 February 2002
When I heard that Tim Burton was making a new version of the sci-fi legend Planet of the apes,I was really excited.I'm a huge Tim Burton fan, and the combination seemed too good to be true.Unfortunately, the movie was one of the biggest disappointments of the year and Burton's worst movie since Mars Attacks! Don't get me wrong! The new version of Planet of the Apes is not a bad movie and in it's own genre actually quite satisfying. The ape-masks are great(even though they make almost impossible to tell which actor is which) and the sets are pretty impressive. The biggest problem with the movie is that it doesn't have the unique visual look and oddness of Tim Burton. The second problem is Mark Wahlberg. He has the same one impression on his face throughout the movie and is one of the most unintresting hero of all times. All in all,not a bad film, but when compared to massive hype,a huge disappointment
