I recall having seen several films in this genre, the last I believe was "Billy Elliot". There is really no plot, the movie portrays the young boy's quite sad environment. Maybe I missed something, but why is he not in school at all? I personally prefer some coherent plot going on, no matter how scarce. A good story is one of many keys to getting a good rating - here and elsewhere.
