The title "Life doesn't scare me" tells a lot about this movie. We follow how four ordinary little girls, then teenage girls (the movie took several years to shoot so the actresses could grow up), learn about life, love and all that sort of things. There is no real storyline, but an elaborate patchwork of scenes where we see them turn into adults, become fully (or not so fully) conscious of what they are and of what they love. Everyone can relate to them in some way or another and, though the movie is set in France at the end of the 70's, I suppose it's quite universal. Many scenes, particularly those involving their relationships with this strange species known as "boys" are delightfully funny and so true (and of the kind you'll never find in "college comedies"...), and may bring back lots of memories. The soundtrack and the many fantasy/musical scenes help a lot too. Not so sweet, not so hard, but good enough, this is real life.
