Review of Anchor Me

Anchor Me (2000 TV Movie)
7/10
Recommendable family drama
16 January 2002
Surprisingly good - Patrick Lau, specialist in TV films like `The Scarlet Pimpernel', once again with tight direction bringing out the best in some very good actors. Interesting plot which unexpectedly comes up with an almost `happy ending'. Intricate and delicate contemporary families matters are explored here in a rather unusual situation.

Well worth a watch if it comes up on your TV.

Good accompanying music, better photography, though it did not show us very much of the countryside around the locations in the west of England - Bristol and Weston-super-Mare (Somerset), - which was a shame. Character-driven piece with some good dialogues well played out by the actors with some moments which are truly excellent.

No clichés, no `soap', no saga: just good, clean family relations drama.

This is a production by Granada TV, UK in two episodes of 90 minutes.
