More than anything, this film demonstrated how limited people are when they are poor.
For example, even though these terrible things happened to Hank and Leticia, they had to keep doing what they were doing before, though Hank had a few more choices. Instead of getting rid of the chair his son died in, Hank washed it up and sat in it. Leticia had to keep using the purse that her son had bled onto, because she didn't have another. She had to go back to the same house and job because she didn't have any where else to go.
I felt as though these two people trusted each other even when they didn't trust themselves.
